I was invited to a birthday party for a friend of mine's two-year-old. This party happened to be on a day when kids were out of school. When I got to Pump It Up, with my 1 1/2 year-old baby, I was told that they were full to capacity, and that I was not allowed in, but could be added to a waiting list. When I told the woman at the counter that I was there for a birthday party, she said, ""Sorry, Hun, I don't know what to tell you"". I asked her if I could at least go back to let the mom know that we were there, and she said, ""you can go back, but you have to come right back out and wait up front for somebody to leave."" So....I went back to tell my friend that we were there, but were stuck in the front lobby. The woman came back there, and since there was an empty bench, I asked her if I could just sit on the bench with my baby (who obviously would not be jumping, and me, being pregnant, would obviously not be jumping, either.) She told me no, and said I had to wait up front. I asked her if she could give me an idea of how long I might have to wait, and she said no. I told her that I was just trying to figure out if I should go home, or if it was worth me staying with my child. She just rudely said that she didn't know, and I would just have to wait and see. So....I gave my friend our present for her child, and my baby and I stood in the front lobby. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the woman, who I had been standing in front of pretty much the entire time, said ""Oh, did you decide to wait?"" I said ""Yes,"" and she said ""Well you didn't give me your name.""???? I said ""oh, you didn't ask for it."" So I gave her my name, and she finally put me on the bottom of the waiting list, after a few people who had shown up after me had already been added to the list. Needless to say, an 18 month old cannot patiently wait in a lobby for too long before getting fussy, so after about 45 minutes of waiting, we finally left.
This was the first and last time that I will ever go to Pump-it-Up. I could not believe that somebody who shows up for a bday party that they were invited to, was not allowed in, especially since neither me or my baby would be participating in anything, all we would have been doing was sitting with the moms whose older kids were able to participate. (Which, by the way, there was a completely empty bench right next to where the party guests were playing). Fun stuff...a 25 minute drive to and from with about 45 minutes of wasted time standing in a lobby with my 1 1/2 year old. The woman was far from courteous, too. She was rude to both me, and the husband of my friend, who came out to check on what the deal was. (This is the father of the bday boy). I would give them a negative star if I could.
