Good food doesn't make up for terrible service 5/22/2011

My friend recommended this restaurant for the good food. I invited 3 friends out for a special celebration. The service was bad from the minute we walked in. No one approached our table for a long time. Finally 30 minutes later we got the bread and water we asked for. The head waiter was rude from the first word. The food was good when we finally got to order. We were given dessert menus and the waiter never came back to take our order. after waiting another 30 minutes I had to get up and go ask for the check. This is the worst service I have ever experienced. I am appalled that they didn't try to be nice about their obviously indifferent attitude. I will never go back and would not recommend this restaurant. We so many good restaurants in the area there is no reason to put up with such rude, indifferent, arrogant attitude. Go to Tiramisu in Sherman Oaks for great food and wonderful service. I am taking my friends there next week to make up for this terrible evening. more

Can't Lose Italian 12/17/2009

We were introduced to Prosecco by our brother-in-law a few years ago after he passed by it on a visit to town and stopped for a glass of wine to kill time. After having the special (steak wrapped in BACON), I was pretty much hooked. The second time we went, I was sold on the penne arrabiata. I hadn't had a really good penne since my favorite restaurant in Seattle closed, but Prosecco's is amazing. You do, in fact, crave it fortnightly. In addition to the food (the bread pudding is excellent), we have always had delightful service, the atmosphere is great and you really can't beat the cost for what you get. Pros: Best penne arrabiata in town Cons: Parking can potentially be tricky. more

One of Our Favorite Restaurants 12/10/2009

This is one of our favorite restaurants. We ate there the night after we moved to L.A. and have been back at least twice a month since then. The food is always fabulous. I love the daily ravioli specials. They are always creative and delicious. The service is friendly yet professional and Bryan and Speedy treat us like family. Even with so many worthy restaurants in the area - Prosecco stands out! Pros: Ravioli, Salmon, Service more

FANTASTIC 12/10/2009

I was able to stop in on a week night and was greeted with such friendliness that it just started my experience out so GREAT. I had the grilled salmon and it was to die for, the food came out at such a timely manner and the server that night was so wonderful, very attentive. There were so many choices on the menu that I must go back and try plus I have not received that kind of service in a long time:) so I will be returning! Pros: service outstanding, food amazing more

A FAVORITE 12/10/2009

We have been coming to Prosecco and bringing our family, friends & business associates for 9 years now. We come because the food is consistently good and the atmosphere is always friendly. You can?t help feeling like family (in a good way). Even our pickiest friends who have a tendency to send food back to the kitchen come here and are always pleased. They have an excellent selection of wines and a wide variety of dinner choices. It is the people that make the atmosphere a place to come back to. The good food and service are just added benefits. Pros: FOOD,SERVICE,ATMOSPHERE more

Terrifying experience 12/9/2009

I've been to Prosecco many times and enjoyed the food. Tonight was incredibly different. The entrees were served late and when the waiter broke an entire bottle of red wine on the floor next to me, shards of glass flew into my purse and the wine drenched my coat, destroying it. Instead of apologizing, he simply cleaned the floor and walked away. When he came to our table to deliver the check and my fiancee complained, he began to yell then leaned over me and threatened to beat the hell out of him. He was pulled away, then came back and pushed into me again, screaming and threatening violence. I was terrified. Other diners in the restaurant vowed not to return, the man (who claimed to be the owner) was held outside while we walked to our car. Horrifying and terrifying experience. Will never return. Pros: Decent food Cons: Violent waiter more

Tasteless And Overrated 7/18/2008

This is why Zagat (a 25 food rating) is not to be trusted 100%. We ordered the Cappelini al dente, what we got was an almost mushy overcooked pasta with a tasteless (almost no salt) Pomodoro sauce. The Linguine with Manila clams were a little better, but still almost tasteless. On the other side, the spinach with garlic was salty. One bite of pasta then one of the spinach and the contrast was short of disastrous. Very good Lamb chops. Average Bresaola and Salads. Tiramisu that really was like a caramel pound cake...not bad, but not really Tiramisu. Service: The manager-waiter (Spikey Hair) and the busboy...only two of them for 8~9 tables, and they were doing the work as smoothly, friendly, professionally as 5~6 average ones together...just amazing! (He didn't charge us for the Capellini-Thank you!). Pros: Service Cons: Food more

A gem in Toluca Lake 6/13/2008

Food was delicious all around, with friendly and knowlegeable staff (such a rarity these days). The seafood was very fresh, and creatively prepared. The cheesecake dessert was light and delicous, with tons of fresh blueberries. We'll definitely be back! Pros: Fantastic food, friendly and knowlegable staff Cons: The mashed potatoes were a little ""margerine-y"" but all othe food was great more

Great food, service & atmosphere for a reasonable price! 3/23/2008

If you like pasta dishes, this is the place for you. The staff is extremely friendly and willing to accomodate any alterations you'd prefer to make to a menu item (i.e., different sauce). When my wife and I left late Saturday night neither one of us could think of a single 'negative' about the experience. Even the parking is easy (street) by virtue of its location in sleepy little Toluca Lake. Try this place and you will not be disappointed! Pros: food, service, atmosphere, parking Cons: none I can think of more

Great food and atmosphere 12/8/2007

What an amazing place for dinner. We were visiting family in the area and they wanted to treat us to one of their favorite restaurants. We all love Italian food and we were very happy with the selections and the restaurant. Our hosts introduced us to Eric at our table and later when he came back to check on us he even remembered our names. They were short handed that night but we had no lack of service...and our meals were wonderful. On our next visit we will surely insist on dinner at this lovely restaurant again. Pros: Great Food and atmosphere more

Amazing food 11/8/2007

I celebrated my 25th birthday here last night and I have nothing but great memories. The food was excellent and the staff was awesome. I had a party of 20 people and not once did our waiter look annoyed. When I walked in and was met by Eric I felt so at ease and in great hands. He made sure we were all comfortable during our experiance. Even though they don't have a children's menu my son loved the pasta and wants me to take him again. This is a restaurant I will be suggesting to my friends and I will be coming to on a regular basis. Pros: Food, service, location more

best kept secret! 9/10/2007

I work for a company that owns and operates some of the best restaurants in La and Vegas so it takes quite a lot to chance a special occasion at an unknown restaurant. I did just that a year ago at Prosecco and it is now my go to place for a celebration. The reviews here are so random that I had to write. I have been there 4 times this year and every time I am so impressed with every detail. Eric always treats us like were VIP's. The tables are not squished together like some restaurants, especially in the back which is our favorite place. The waiters are always so nice to us and helpful. They never belittle us or rush us. It truely is a wonderful experience going to a restaurant where you know the food will be delicious, the service is A plus, and you leave feeling positive about the experience. Thank you for always treating us so good and more importantly for the wonderful tarragon pasta. You and your staff made our anniversary really wonderful. See you soon. Pros: Food, Waiters, Eric, Location, Ambiance, Little Back Room Cons: No website (that we could find) more

Good Food, Pretty Restaurant, Average-Poor Service 8/9/2007

My husband and I went to Prosecco for dinner the other night. It was busy but not crowded and we were greeted politely by the Maitre 'd, who I suppose is Eric based on previous reviews. We were presented with the specials and the menu is well-rounded with some really good-sounding dishes. Our waiter, an actor-looking wannabe with spiked jet-black hair, came by after about 15 minutes to take our order. He seemed disinterested and rather unfriendly (I guess I'm used to waiters/waitresses who smile, introduce themselves, and have some personality to them). Our appetizers and entrees came and at no point did someone come over to ask us if we were enjoying our meals (which we did, by the way). Our drinks were empty, and it was up to me to get out of my seat to let someone know we needed more to drink. We waited awhile longer for our plates to be cleared, even more to be told about dessert, and then awhile more for the check. In summary, the ambiance is pretty, the food tasty, but the service is lacking. I am a very patient person, especially if a restaurant is packed or short-staffed, neither of which Prosecco was. Based on the lack of service, I wouldn't go back. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Simply Wonderful 5/24/2007

As someone who eats @ Prosecco at least 50 times a year (no exaggeration) - I recommend Prosecco to anyone and everyone. I take most of my business lunches there; the food is excellent and you can have a conversation without having to shout. In the past few years I've taken over 150 different people to lunch there (again, no exaggeration) and NOT ONE hasn't enjoyed it... Most go back on there own. I make sure I introduce my guests by name to Eric and his staff, so they will enjoy the experience with or without me there in the future. Pros: Excellent Food, wonderful ambience Cons: Make a reservation in advance more

Not the Classy Place it Pretends to Be 3/12/2007

Eric, re-reading your comments to me below proves what I was saying very aptly. To quote: ""WOW, that screen name, just says it all... I'm assessing you were having a bad day. Hence needing a target to take your aggressions out on, and I just happen to be the man, in your line of fire."" Pros: edible Cons: snobbish more

Sounds great 3/10/2007

Coming to a party there. Have heard and read great things, any chance you have a menu online? Thank you for your help. more

Great atmosphere with pretty good food! 1/12/2007

My boss has been going here for years and so when a group of co-workers and I wanted to go out to dinner, we decided to try this place out. We had reservations and were seated promptly. The atmosphere is great and I think this restaurant would be good for a date, casual dining with friends, or even a business meeting. Unfortunately, after we were seated and handed our menus, we were pretty much ignored. In fact, eventually someone from the table had to get up and ask for our server to attend to us. Now when we did have our server's attention, he was very pleasant and helpful with explaining the menu and making recommendations. It took awhile for our food to come out, and when it did, it was pretty good though I thought a little high in price for what we got. When it came time for the check, once again our waiter was nowhere to be found, so we had to flag down a bus boy to get our server for us. I'm willing to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt that they might have been short handed on the Thursday night that we went. I think the food was pretty good but I wouldn't recommend it as a first choice restaurant. I would've loved to have adored this restaurant and make it a regular for me, and I was disappointed that I didn't like it more. Pros: Great atmosphere and in a great location Cons: Service was slow...though when we did have a server he was very nice more

Amazing Tuscan Food & Service In The Valley 1/11/2007

Brought my boyfriend here to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Eric & his Waitresses, along with the amazing Busboy, just rolled out the red carpet for us. Such a welcome feeling, in exceptance of alternative lifestyle. No one in the place, even batted an eye (not that I would care). The food, wine & bread pudding, just sent us over the edge. Anyone would be just plain out of there mind, if they thought otherwise. Rumor has it, they have been there for about 12 years now. REMARKABLE !!!! Pros: FOOD - WINE - SERVICE - VALUE more
