If you are a nurse and you are looking for a job, think LONG and HARD before working for this employer. I was super excited to get a job after finishing nursing school. I went to Preferred Pediatrics where I was offered $14/hr. (YES $14/hr for a NURSE-working NIGHTS) Out of desperation I took the offer only to get walked all over. (I was constantly covering other peoples shifts, getting my hours changed, ect. and no appreciation for going out of my way to help). First, I was told up front that there would be no OT (the company doesnt want to pay you for it so to get around it, (when you work nights) they schedule you for a really long shift on the last day/night of the pay period- so after 12 midnite it goes on your next check. (so you work a 48hr week only to get shorted the OT since 8 of the hours roll to the next check. Also, the clients houses I went to had less than nice things to say about 'jane' calling her 'an idiot', and the longer I worked there, the more I could see why they said that. (a common complaint I heard from my clients, was about the unability to keep them staffed with a nurse) Also, I hope if you do work here, you never get sick, cause IF you do, and when you try to call in, they will guilt trip you to death about how they have NO coverage and you HAVE to GO IN (even with 102 fever which the doctor told me was STREP). That was IT, I gave them a peice of my mind and told them HOW DARE they try to get me to go to work, (to go work with IMMUNO-COMPRIMISED CHILDREN- with trachs) Their benefits are just okay--- they tell you that you have to work over 36 hours a week to qualify for benefits, but then dont want to schedule you for the hours they require. It is really hard to work a consistent full time schedule with these people. If your client ever goes to the hospital- guess what, you are out of work (and a check) cause they have no where else to send you to let you make up lost time. I dont know about most people, but I need to know that every pay period I will get a paycheck, and if you work for them, there is no guarentee. They have a HUGE turnover, probably because of the way they treat their employees. I quit this job after I got another job offer working m-f days making $25/hr. You just cant raise a family on $440/wk bring home. oh and Milage compensation?!?!? There is NONE! I honestly believe that the other review from ""DMEdriver"" must be jane herself, or the scheduler hoping that nurses will read it and make the horrible decision to work there. Oh and Joyce, she will say whatever she thinks you want to hear just as long as you cover for her other nurses (""sure, if you cover this shift, you can have off _____""-- problem is SHE LIES. Thats about all I have to say about these people. I reccommend them to NO ONE. EVER.
