Parking may be a little bit of a pain, but it's worth the pleasure. Food & service were excellent and quite affordable. Sangria was great, too. Not a place to have a cozy conversation-- it's on the noisy side-- but pleasant nonetheless. The food, price, and service make this an all-around great place to go. This place was excellent. The people and the atmosphere were more 'trendy' than the usual places on Hillsbourgh Street. Our service was great and so was the food. The Sirloin marinated in juices was SO good - my boyfriend and I ordered a second one after we had finished our meal! The Fettuccine Alfredo w/ mushrooms was also good. more

The ambiance was great - as was the service. The food was also excellent and so were the prices. How can you beat that?!? Try the nachos as an appetizer (though you'll want to skip dinner if you do). Hillsborough Street needed this restaurant!!! more

Great Place to go for a Friday Night Crowd. Wonder menu, with a nice selection of food and prices. My wife, another couple and I went here for the first time last weekend, it will definately be added to our list of approved restaurants. I would recommend skipping dessert and heading the down the street for some Ben & Jerry's. The desserts were average to below average. I guess my expectations were higher due to the great meal. I have been there once and I plan to go back soon. I had the wild mushroom fettucine with truffled alfredo sauce which was absolutely amazing. I was also tempted by the shrimp and grits as well as the massive portabello burger they offer.I might try them next! The service I received was outstanding. I didn't sit at the bar so I don't know about the bartenders, but the server for our table was great. He was friendly but professional, and I like that he didn't feel the need to stoop down, tell us his name was Joe and proceed to give us his life story! He took our order in a friendly manner and stopped by two or three times to make sure we were OK. To me, that's enough! The ambience was nice as well; it was warm but contemporary, a difficult mix! I absolutely love the food here at Porter's! The pasta and salads are very good and appetizing. I think the atmosphere is wonderful and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
