My Atlanta Favorite 7/11/2007

Truly a gem in the city. Wonderful atmosphere - cozy. The attention detail is apparent in every dish. more

The BEST food and wonderful service 6/13/2007

I went with a group of thirteen teenagers. We had a wonderful time! The service was great and were more than willing to repeat the menu to us multiple times. The staff also didn't mind having a little fun with us either. But it did not compare to the food. The food was the best! I tried some of everyone's dish and each one was great. It's a small but not crowded place. The atmosphere is perfect. Perfectly fine for groups with reservations. more

neighborhood feel, great food, great service, ask for Gee 5/18/2007

This place is incredible. It is refreshingly intimate (can be romantic or quality time with friends and family.) Our server, Gee, was a master of food & drink. He was an expert on the menu and also our creative bartender- whipping up one of Atlanta's best martinis. About the kitchen--whatever is happening back there is magic as there is not a bad thing on the menu. The menu is generous in selection and the food is out of this world. We had the spinach & artichoke strudel along with the shrimp southwestern as starters--both were unique and wonderful, robust with flavor. As an entree I would confidently recommend the Peasant filet (topped with lump crabmeat & tarragon cream)--however there are several things that I have not yet had the privilege to try but my taste buds are begging for. We also met the manager who was so nice & attentive. He made sure that we were having a great experience. Cannot rave more about this cozy nook--everyone within 10 miles should be a weekly regular and make it ""Their Place""! Pros: Service, Food & intimate atmosphere Cons: Not a one! more

Pleasant Indeed!! Very Romantic!! 1/23/2007

My husband and I could not believe we hadn't been here sooner. This place is so intimate and romantic...and the food....de-lish!!!!!!!!!! Our server, Gene, was extremely knowledgable and attentive. I can't say enough about the food and wine. Hubby had the lamb chops which an apple bbq sauce on them--I thought I saw him licking his fingers---LOL---anyhoo, I had the pecan crusted swordfish---to die for--is all I can say. Oh, I forgot about the apps---usu, I'm not for eggrolls but, please try these--they were so good made with sweet potato, chicken, and shrimp. And the of course, the french onion soup was the best ever. Impeccable restaurant--I had to write a review about the experience! Pros: Insider tip: parking is validated if you use the lot behind the restaurant Cons: Everything was FABU!! more

Just... incredible. 10/17/2006

Never have I had such incredible service (thanks Trixie!!) and delectable food. I am so impressed with this restaurant. The dishes are so unique. Pros: service, originality, homey feel Cons: when you step out of the restaurant and turn the corner to go back to your car, it's a pretty shady area. more

Peasant Come Home! 9/24/2006

I went here opening night in 1974. The three owners, Steve Nygren, Richard Daily and Bob Amick, were working as waiters on the floor. The Peasant turned Atlanta on it's ear, and a mini-empire was born. Today, it's but a long gone memory. Amick has created his own empire, Nygren gone south, and Dailey hopefully to heaven. The restaurant still seems somewhat romantic at night, but in the daylight, she shows her age. The French Onion Soup, Roasted Duck, and Steak Au Pouive are all still on the menu. Added are a few new twists. Atlanta has become much more up-town and diverse city. Sadly a soup kitchen is near by, and be prepared. Hopefully things are looking up for the area, and The Peasant will come home! Pros: Up and Coming SoNo Location! Cons: Homeless Kitchen Nearby! more

25 years later it is still great! 7/28/2006

I actually worked here a couple of years in the late 70's. Over the years I have gone back as a customer many times. June 2006 was the first time in 8 years. The food was overall very good. Creative menu, well presented. but kitchen timing was off. My wife's entree arrived freshly prepared, mine had obviously been idling under the heat lamps awhile. It wasn't enough of an issue to send the entree back. Pros: very good food Cons: inconsistent service more

Good service, tasty food 5/25/2006

Was described as a ""romantic place"" to go. Place is one, big noisy room with tables almost on top of one another. Music was playing but not audible. Once we got over the atmosphere, I must admit the service was perfect though not overbearing. The food was good though not outstanding, esp. for the price. I had the Shrimp Villages and enjoyed it -- plenty of small shrimp served with asparagus and risotto. However, the shrimp and risotto were swimming in butter and as a result, risotto was ""caked"" together. My husband had the pecan encrusted swordfish and was quite pleased with the taste. We shared a Key Lime pie for dessert and that was delicious. Overall I would recommend it -- our bill came to $68. with one appetizer, three glasses of wine, entrees and one dessert. Valet parking was convenient. Pros: excellent service, valet parking, adventurous flavors Cons: VERY noisy, tables too close more

Fantastic find! 4/9/2006

Thank you city search - I have found another gem - this place is amazing - service is ""over the top"" great and the food was at the same level. This will definitly be a new regular place to go! Absolutely a super find downtown and it has its own parking! Highly recommend a visit. Pros: service, food, ambiance Cons: stem ware more

VERY PLESANT, COZY AND OHH SO ROMANTIC 2/15/2006

My first time going to pleasant pleasant was on Valentine's Day and I had a wonderful experience. Me and my boyfriend of almost seven years had the pleasure of dining here and let me tell you we wasn't disappointed. We had a starter which was the shrimp southwestern; it was great, very spicy but small portion. We both had a house salad with nice hot bread (that by the way they kept it coming). The waiter was the best. I had the bbq apple lamb (which was a first for me for lamb and i loved it.) He had some chicken breast stuffed with cheese it was good as well. It got even better when when had two bottles of White Zifendel to top things off. This is definently one to try!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: VALET, STAFF, FOOD Cons: SEATING, NOISY, SMALL more

Good Dining Experience 2/8/2006

My husband and I went to this restaurant after an evening at the Fox. There had been a office party of some sort that had completely shut down the restaurant until about 9 that evening so when the party left and we were finally seated, the restaurant was literally deserted save for my husband and I's lone table. Our server was excellent and answered any and every question that we had about the food. The service was prompt and the appetizer was incredible although a very small portion. The entree was equally as good and of much bigger proportions. The restaurant is great for romance, particularly when it is less busy. I recommend this for date due to the ambiance! A must! Pros: Ambiance, Food, Service Cons: Possibly crowded more

The Worst Dining Experience in Life 9/10/2005

The service was the worst that I have ever received. The waitress was wonderful, but the owner was terrible in her response to the crowded conditions in her restaurant. An event at the Fox theater made the conditions of the restaurant a little crowded, but because of previous experiences at this same restaurant our party was willing to wait. When vacant tables became available due to the crowd leaving there was no one in the dining area sitting people who had been waiting literally for hours. When asked to see the manager she came out of the kitchen saying ""you wanted me"". To say the least I will not spend my money or recommend any one spend their time going to this restaurant. more

Disappointing 8/25/2005

Had a late lunch. Service was prompt and attentive. Calamari was very good. Fish-- blackened grouper-- was nicely seasoned, although serving size was quite small. Rice and green beans were quite bland-- some of the rice was dry and hard. Dessert-- peach shortcaketasted odd due to ""seasoned"" pecans. We left most on the plate after trying to get used to the very unpalatable taste. We were told it is a favorite. Go figure. My wife had blackened chicken and spinach in hollandaise sauce -- too sour. Had this been a $30 meal, I would say ok- I tried it no big deal. Considering it was over $50, however, I must say I was sorely disappointed. Perhaps I should have gone with the items suggested by others on this site, but I cannot say with any certainty that I will be giving the Peasant a second chance. Pros: Service, Interesting dishes Cons: poor value, seasoned dessert more

Intern with a taste for good food. 7/19/2004

Pleasant peasant was divine! The food was wonderful and the ambiance was nice and chill. It was perfect for lunch. Although me and my fellow interns are struggling for money, this place was worth the jaunt and the expenditure. Try the crab cakes, the lime ginger salad, the plum pork chops and then top in all off with some coffee and chocolate mousse cake. If you make less than us, then grab a happy meal and then get the mousse cake. Pros: parking available., good service more

A must for lunch 7/19/2004

The food quality is superb as is the service. Great deals for lunch. The plum pork was delicious and the salads all look amazing, especially the lime ginger salad. Leave room for dessert--you won't want to miss the chocolate intemperance! Pros: Inexpensive lunch, Great service, Delicious food more

The Pleasant Peasant is an amazing 10! 4/12/2003

The Pleasant Pesant is nothing short of a fantastic experience. The food is exquistite, presented so finely, and it's the perfect romantic atmosphere. My husband proposed to me there and they gave us a free bottle of wine! It was just great! I recommend it for couples especially! Pros: Fair prices, Incredible food, Kind service more

nosiy romance 1/31/2003

This is a good resturant, but not for romance. It is in an old building and has one big room. It is hard to be romantic when you have you have a table within arms reach from all angles. The food is okay. But there is way too many tables. It is very noisy!! more

that loving feeling... 1/16/2003

My husband and I went here for our first wedding anniversary, the ambience, the food, the service, oo-la-lah, definitely brought back the love we first had. I would have rated this #1. more

Nothing Has Changed 11/20/2002

That is Anything. It really needs a face lift. The front of the restaurant doesn't seem very clean by the window waiting area. The menu needs some updating. Food is a little over priced for what you get. Not much bang for the buck. Pros: location, character Cons: price, parking, cleanliness more
