I took my scrap gold to 5 other *reputable* gold buying places. Pleasant Hill Jewelry was the highest. To the 2.9% customer, I wonder what they ended up selling their jewelry for? Pleasant Hill jewelry was probably the best place to go. Where's the follow up??? more

Very Fair 10/11/2010

I took my jewelry scrap to 3 other licensed ( as opposed to non-licensed! Important detail there...) gold buyers in the area. Pleasant Hill Jewelry offered the highest price by far. I would recommend them to anybody selling gold. more

PHC&J and Antioch Coin And Jewelry conduct good business. The lady's comment before about the 2.9% of what she was offered based on the "Mall Appraisal" of her items is completely false. PHC&J pays fair market value for the precious metal that is within the item. Retailers appraise "their" jewelry and mark it up at least 800% of what it is really worth. Example, a Solid Gold Rolex Presidential has 94 grams of 18kt gold, which in to days spot price of gold is about $2100. worth of gold in it... Now how much does a Rolex Presidential sell for? $21000. at a 1000% mark up... 2 ladies rings would be estimated at 4-5 grams... which will make it 60 dollars worth of gold.. They offered 50? I would take it!!! more

They offer 2.9% of items Value?! 7/24/2007

I will have to agree with the NEGATIVE feedback. Earlier today I take two rings to several jewelers in the Sunvalley Mall to have them appraised. One ring is a 10kt white gold with a tanzanite stone and some very small diamonds. This ring had an average appraisal of ~$500.00. The second ring I had appraised was 14kt yellow gold with I believe 12 small emerald stones. This ring had an average appraisal of ~$1200.00. I then go to Pleasant Hill Coin & Jewelry where I’m kindly greeted by a gentleman. “How can we help you today” he asks. I told him I would like to sell two rings. He takes the rings and with only a quick glance he places them on a scale. He then grabs a calculator and with a few calculations, “$50.00” was his offer. Side note: I know shops like this need to make a profit, but come on. 2.9% of the appraised value? “Oh, well these are worth a bit more than that.” I stated. He then said with a smug tone, “Well not to me.” I was astonished, took back to jewelry and left. I honestly thought that this was a reputable shop until this incident. I would STRONGLY recommend NOT using Pleasant Hill Coin & Jewelry if this is how they conduct business. more
