After growing up in an Italian neighborhood of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Pica's pizza tastes like cardboard. Try Reviello's or Salerno's in Old Forge Pennsylvania. That's pizza. ...

BEST PIZZA IN PHILLY 10/13/2011

This is by far the best pizza I have ever had in Philadelphia. It is great hot!! It is great cold!! It is the best!! Every person I have ever had try it, loves it!!\r The rest of the menu is very good too. However, some of the deserts are a little pricy considering they don't make them on site. But heck who cares? Just don't order dessert. You should be too full from all the great Italian food to be worried about such a thing. \r \r I cannot understand for the life of me how Philadelphia Magazine failed to mention Picas when they were listing the top pizza joints in the region a few months back. This is an outrage!!\r more

Worst meal ever 10/18/2009

I used to go there all the time as a kid, and loved it, Im 30 now, and recently my freinds and I started going again. We had one or two acceptable meals, the scallops were good enough to come back for, but our last meal was insane, The waitress took forever to even acknowledge us, let alone bring drinks, we never got bread, we waited 25 minutes for the wrong pizza to come out, and she argued with us about what we ordered. My scallops were still good, and luckily the next correct pizza only took maybe 7 minutes to come out, the place was not busy at all. The table nearest to us had regulars and the waitresses were sitting with them the whole time joking and laughing while we didnt get drink refills, asked for desert orders and had to wait for a check. \r \r We left no tip, understandably, and I work for tips, so I tip very well. The waitress chased us down in the parking lot and tried to flag down the car. We will never be going back. Pros: creepy picture in lobby, decent scallops Cons: fossilized, rude waitstaff, dated interior more

Awesome Pizza 1/3/2009

Pica's pizza is probably my favorite. My favorites are the original, extra cheese, or pepperoni. Be prepared that it's not your typical pizza. It's square, with sauce on top (except extra cheese, which tops it with cheese). The pepperoni is large and thin, the kind you get at the deli counter. My stomach is growling just thinking about it. The other food is good, but the pizza is tops!!! Pros: Pizza Cons: The servers sometimes give a diner-like feel. Also, there is one that is really cranky. Most are friendly though. more

great restaurant 12/18/2008

We been going to Picas for years, I think of it as my home away from home type of place the food is always wonderrful and so are the people that work there. Love it Pros: food more

Very tasty food 11/6/2008

We have eaten at Pica's often and the food and staff is always wonderful. I can not say one thing bad about this place. Pros: way up more

comfort food 2/15/2008

Sleek, sophisticated; for a restaurant to truly seduce, it has to have all three ingredients. This and more, with a mouthwatering menu and a prime locale. \r \r The seductive decor is warm and inviting (perfect for cozy couples and power execs alike) and great for that ""just because"" evening, celebrations or anything in between. \r \r Signature dishes reflect the simple seasonings of Italy - Capesante, a warm dish of Seared Maine Diver Scallops, Braised Wild Mushrooms and Brown Butter-Truffle Vinaigrette and more. Pros: romantic Cons: parking more

Best Pizza Anywhere 12/3/2007

Discovered Pica's in the late 50's and have been traveling far lately just to get a small mushroom pizza which is the best i've ever had. After moving to Southern Maryland i'd visit my sister and drive an hour out of the way to get a Pica's Pizza. Now i'm in Newark, Delaware and the trip up I-95 to the Blue Route is worth it because when i get to West Chester Pike I know what's down the road. 5 stars all the way. Pros: GREAT Pizza! Cons: Small parking spots in a small parking lot more

Certainly the best in the western suburbs and the south jersey shore! 10/25/2007

Me and my family drive forty-five minutes for this pizza. It is what I would consider unconventional in that it is square, and heavy on the sauce, but it is fantastic! Have not tried everything in the city, but there is none better in the western burbs or the Jersey shore! We eat a lot of pizza, and this is one you can't beat. Pros: Tops in pizza. The food in general is quite good, and reasonably priced. Cons: None that comes to mind. more

Are you kidding me 4/28/2007

Was not impressed at all. Seems too generic. Dont get me wrong it was ok, but their are many more pizza laces out there that deserve top billing. Pros: good for locals Cons: average pizza, not worth the trip more

Best Pizza anywhere! 2/20/2007

Without a doubt the best Pizza anywhere! I dont even like pizza, but there is something about Pica's Pizza that is a step above any other pizza! Pros: Pizza Cons: Parking is difficult! more

Great place! 12/8/2006

I love their pizza, I love their pasta, I love their employees. It's the kind of place to go with a date or with the whole family. I've never been disappointed with the food or the service. I've been in their private room for a baby shower and for birthday parties. Always special. Pros: good food, good prices Cons: parking more

The Best Piece of Home 10/20/2006

I'm also a Philly native who now lives in Okinawa, Japan (Husband is USMC). I'm soon to return home and all I can think about besides family is biting into a hot piece of Pica's pizza. I love Pica's so much I actually had my mother freeze a pizza and fly it here when she came over to visit. It was good but not the same. I can't wait to get home to share a good pizza with family. Pros: Nice down to earth staff Cons: The parking more

BEST PIZZA EVER 9/25/2006

Pica's has the best pizza ever! I highly recommend the pepperoni and well done crust. If you have not been here for the pizza you must try it. Once you trie Pica's you'll never want any other pizza ever. Pros: PIZZA Cons: parking more

Very unsavory pizza although the pasta was very good, Awful service from management 8/25/2006

I visited Pica's after reading the article that showed it was voted the best pizza in the Philadelphia area. \r \r The pizza was bland, it had no flavor. It was partially burnt and had an aftertaste that reminded me of the one you would get from frozen pizza. The dough was flat and rubbery.\r \r Unfortunately, I expressed my opinion when the waitress me about my experience. Without my asking for it, she brought the manager to our table. This gentleman was very polite. Even though I did not ask for anything, this gentleman offered to subtract the prize of the pizza from the tab. I accepted and thought it very considerate and becoming of an established restaurant.\r \r Sorry to say this wasn't the end of it. A few seconds after the manager left, a person that claimed to be the owner's daughter and who was working the reservations and customer greetings, came to our table and questioned me on my appreciation of the pizza. \r \r She started to argue about the importance of my opinion compared to the thousands that made this the top choice for pizza in Philadelphia. SHE EVEN WENT AS FAR AS SUGGESTING THAT IF I DIDN'T LIKE IT WHY WOULD I EAT IT? This person didn't even give me an opportunity to answer... she rushed out after making me feel as uncomfortable as I have been in my entire life at any food serving location. I felt even worst than I used to feel at my Catholic School's cafeteria!!! I understand taking pride in what you do but confronting and trying to argue with a paying customer is beyond my understanding.\r \r Since I did not have a chance to answer the lady, I'm using this venue to answer her rude remark:\r I love Pizza and I will drive for a while to find a good one and after driving for a while, even if it's not the best, I will try to enjoy it and yes, hunger will make me eat it...... at least most of the time.\r \r If you visit Pica's please keep your opinions to yourself if you want to avoid being harassed even as you are paying. Pros: Good Pasta and Food Cons: Rude ownership that will come to a patron and argue about his opinion... Stay away from the pizza more

Family Friendly 8/21/2006

I am also a Philly native, I was actually born in Upper Darby but lived in Glen Mills, and now I am in Phoenix AZ. Every summer I go back to Philly and as soon as I am off the plane I head over to Pica's! I always get the large pizza, because I like the sauce on top, with green peppers and onions. It is by far what I think of when I want pizza. I can not wait until next time! Pros: The waiters will not just take you order but talk to you as well, they treat you like family. Cons: Some of the time the wait can your food can be long, but only during busy hours. more

ewwww 7/31/2006

i wasnt really impressed with the pizza it was fair at best. There are way better ones out there for sure more

Awesome pizza every time! 6/15/2006

Like other reviewers, I am away from home & miss my Pica's tremendously! The square pie, the cheese that is not too greasy or overpowing, the sauce...the pizza is just great! My personal faves are sausage, extra sauce, well done & green pepper, extra sauce, well done. I only wish I weren't 3000 miles away right now! Pros: Great pizza every time Cons: VERY busy on Friday nights between 4 - 8 more

Much more than a Pizza place 5/1/2006

Don't be fooled by reviews that may categorize Pica's as a Pizza place... it is a quality restaurant with exceptional food (fresh pasta, terrific sauce, good wine). The waitresses are warm and friendly, and the ambience is just right. (And judging from the number of diners who DO order the pizza - it must be pretty good, too!) Pros: Fresh pasta, Good wine Cons: Small parking lot more

Missing my Pica's Pizza! 9/19/2005

I am a Philly native and now live in Des Moines, IA. I just drove home for a week and my mom asked if I wanted anything special and I told her, ""Pica's of course!"" My first meal back in Philly was of course pizza. Boy do I miss it! Pros: cheese in the middle! more

I'd fly into the area for it! 6/6/2005

This place has been a neighborhood landmark. When you say, ""I live near Pica's"" immediately you get the respose, ""oh, yeah. I know where that is. I love their pizza!"" My family lives all across the country. When we talk on the phone, I tease them and tell them that I'm eating Pica's pizza. They all say that it is the one thing that they miss the most about home. When family fly to visit, we don't cook a big family meal. We order PICA's PIZZA! Pros: GREAT Food, Great Location, Friendly Service Cons: They don't deliver more
