I moved to a Houston from Pittsburgh, PA. I have never heard of an apartment complex having a contract with a cable company. My apartment complex does. We have the option of the 3 cable packages (lifeline, planet or galaxy) and Internet is 3mb, with no possibility of getting anything faster.\r Previously I had Verizon Fios, and we had HBO. We were paying $16.99 a month for it, and it included HBO GO at no additional charge. Phonoscope charges $16.99 a month for HBO but you can't get HBO GO,\r The digital quality of the channels is bad, very pixelated. Often times I don't get channels for a day or two, they will resend signals, it still won't work. Then a few days later I'll get the channel back, but another channel won't work. They will send someone out, but if they deem it's working, they will charge you. \r The Internet is a joke. You pay for 3, but get less than 3 on off peak times, and less than 1 or none at all on peak times. Peak times are when everyone is home and using the bandwidth.\r Customer service.....wow. On their internet page it says ""award-winning"" customer service. I want to know what award they have won and when. I have talked to numerous people, over a dozen calls and have had 1 good experience. When you call they act like you are annoying them by calling. My first horrible experience was when I called to sign up! She was extremely rude. I immediately started calling around to ATT, Comcast, Verizon and no one comes into my complex. \r If you are moving to a complex that is contracted with Phonoscope, don't move there if you have any other choice. I didn't realize until after we signed the lease that phonoscope was the only choice we have. \r I, like other reviewers, can't wait to move out of the complex I'm in to get away from phonoscope. \r Phonoscope is NOT recommended! more

WORST CABLE COMPANY EVER! MOVIES PROMISED, BUT NOT DELIVERED! THEY LIE CONTINUALLY TO YOU WHEN YOU CALL IN TO PLACATE YOU! FORCED INTO HAVING WITH APT COMPLEX!!! DO NOT LIVE IN A PLACE WITH PHONOSCOPE CABLE OR YOU WILL FOREVER REGRET IT!!!!! more

Don't Use Phonoscope! 3/22/2012

Got Phonoscope ""HD"" service yesterday. Hooked it up, and a bunch of the HD channels don't work. Customer Service actually said ""well, there's a disclaimer that says our channel lineup may change, so you can't expect any particular channel to be there on any particular days. It could be the weather."" For the record, today is clear, cool, a beautiful day in Houston. So what they claim to sell is not what they sell, they know it, and they sell it anyway. No wonder so many people in our complex have dishes! more

Phonoscope is the worst Internet & data service provider that we have ever had. If the service works, it?s OK but the Internet can be quite slow. But if you ever have a major outage, like a cable cut, Good Luck!! more

Annoying! 1/13/2010

Firstly, I'm rating 1 star because a star is required in order to publish this review. I have Phonoscope because I must have it. No other choices are available to us here. The cost of having a cable box and dvr is ridiculous (I was quoted $20 monthly box rental on top of an increased monthly plan cost! Errr hello $13 Tivo that I can program from my Blackberry!) so we have opted for basic 80-ish channels and tivo. My main concern with their cable is during each show I watch, the aforementioned (by ktb77004) commercial with the ""ominous music"" for the Houston Business Channel comes on OR a commercial about a woman not wanting to use a dirty catheter (who would?). While these types of commercials may be useful to some, I would appreciate not having the HGTV reveal completely interrupted only to bring me back to the final interview or even worse--the credits of my regularly scheduled programming. The cable internet is adequate. There were a few months where it was a given that every day at 4:30pm I would have no internet service and that would last for a couple hours. When contacting Phonoscope, they are always available but not always knowledgeable, and of course even if I was unable to use the internet during a portion of my waking and at home time at no fault of my own, I was still required to pay the entire bill. Ahhh how I miss Time Warner in that respect! We are now looking to purchase a home and a top excitement of ours is freedom of choice to run in the opposite direction of Phonoscope. I would pay good money to rid us of the commercials consistently overlapping our programs!! Pros: I can write this review. Cons: A to Z more

I am guessing that if you are signing up with phonoscope then it is because you have to with your apartment complex. If not, DO NOT DO IT! Pros: No long waits on the phone for service. Cons: Everything else. more

Great Customer Service 9/29/2007

I wanted to pass along a good experience with these guys. I woke up one Saturday morning and my internet was down, so I called Phonoscope (and your call is ALWAYS answered by an actual person) and they were able to walk me through several things to check the internet status. Eventually, we ended the call with them agreeing to send out a tech (the same day, and in about an hour). However, in about 5 minutes they called me back with another option, and got the internet up and running in no time, without the need to send anyone out. I've had other cable companies in the past, and have NEVER had this kind of prompt, above-and-beyond customer service. They have good rates and good packages, the DVR, HD, and internet are great for the price, and I'd recommend them to anyone tired of having to spend 45 minutes on the phone just to speak to a representative. Pros: Packages, price, service Cons: None so far more
