Phobia haunted House- Exile 10/16/2011

me and a bunch of my friends went in exile which is 3 attractions in one. Fowler woods, darkeworld, and mania. it was ok and sometimes scary in the moment, but the actors got pretty mad because we wernt that scared. i did not have nightmares that night like everyone says you do, it was honestly a waste of $25. it was fun but ill never go to exile again. more

I first read the reviews posted here and Phobia was awesome 10/19/2010

I first read the reviews posted on citysearch, there is a lot of talk about mud. Mud was NONEXISTENT on out trip to phobia on 10/16/10. The place was packed but only took a few minuted to pull onto the property. The actors running around the parking lot had me laughing so hard my stomach began to hurt! A guy with yellow glo sticks was screeching like a bird, a male in a female nurse outfit was dancing. We went to 4 of the 8 attractions. Mind control, Darke institute, 3d Clown Phobia and Dawn of the Machine. Dawn of the machine was our favorite. Actors shouted machine things and came from every angle. The others were great. Mind control was creepy and my second favorite. I wish i would have been able to see all 8 attractions but unfortunately i could not afford to. I did get a $5 dollar off coupon from a Papa johns pizza box. I went to Screamworld, texas terror and castle of doom last year and i wish i could get my money back and go through phobia again. The place is huge, suspense is in the air, so is the smell of the male female nurse. more

Nightmare- but not in a good way 10/18/2010

At the intersection before ever getting to the Haunted House, cars were completely trapped. The car line to get into the Haunted House stopped all traffic, girls getting out of cars and standing in front of other people's cars so their car could pass everyone. No traffic cops AT ALL. If Phobia wasn't so cheap, they would have provided traffic cops. After waiting 40 minutes, sitting in my car 1 minute away from the Haunted House, it ending up being completely unscary and lame. Don't waste your time or money. more

Phobia was Gooood 11/13/2009

Phobia is fun. We saw 3 houses. The woods, 3D clowns (with special glasses) and the mental hospital one. They opened last week for a special night after Halloween. Very cool. It was not crowded at all. All those strange monsters walking around the property was cool. Me likes! Pros: Really Big - Pretty Scareey Cons: 290 is far away from my house more

Went to Phobia Last week 11/11/2009

Phobia on 290 was our last stop this Halloween. We saw The Trails (sucked) last week. Screamworld (ok but not that great) a few weeks ago and Nightmare (don't bother). Phobia was our favorite. It was very muddy from all the rain Friday. The parking lot was bad, but so was our yard., so they should try to fix that if possible. I liked the Dark Instute and Claustraphobia. My friend liked the woods and the Clown one more. The actors were very good and I liked all the mechanical props. I know the 31st is the rookie night, but it was the only night we could all go. They should open more nights. Worth the trip. We all agreed - Thumbs up. We wore old shoes that were muddy from everywhere else! I'll go back next year for sure. Pros: Very Large - Many Choices - Pretty Good Cons: Crowded - Not Cheap more

Not What I expected!! 11/1/2009

Im very disappointed about this so highly talked about Phobia haunted house. For all the money that is made off of this function, you would think they would have their parking lot fixed. My family and I went yesterday 10/31 and when we stepped out of the car we stepped in complete mud.. mud .. mud.. mud was everywhere. Then we had to walk accoss the muddy lot to the ticket booth to purchase tickets where young high school kids were hanging out and seemed as if there were little people there over the age ... then we had to walk back across to get to the house we wanted to go to and again through all the mud. Our shoes we so so messed up it was sad and unbelievable. Now as for the houses .. they were cool.. funny..just a little teeny weeny scary!! lol But why did they have young kids in costumes and standing in the walkways of the house to scare you.. how when i can see you ahead of me... I SEE YOU FOOL!! that is not going to scare me if i see you standing in the hallways and screaming and banging and chanting right there in front of me.. they would try to scare you when they are right there and they know we see them... this was just pure not what i expected!!! come better than this if you are going to charge all that money!!!! Dont waste your money... im lookin at these reviews and you guys must work there or known these people.. there is no way that this place is all that and then some.. no way!!! find something else to do. or they need to revamp that place.. my son did like it but he was like that was not scary i could see the people standing and scaing the people in front of me..... go figure. peace CAli Love babe Pros: alright haunted house Cons: parking lot completely muddy, too costly more

Phobia: Mind Control 10/29/2009

The location was more difficult to find than I thought; the sign is not very prominent. The entrance really set the mood-- creepy winding road surrounded by trees and props. It had rained, so the parking lot was somewhat muddy, but fortunately, they have indoor houses. I tried the Mind Control house (insane asylum). It was basically just a dark room with narrow, winding halls and actors in masks jumping out at you. I excepted more props/decor or something bloodier. I didn't find it scary (I don't get spooked easily, though), but the other people in the house were screaming through the whole thing. I am still curious about the other houses, so I will probably go back anyway. It took us about 10 mins to go through the house and we were walking pretty slow. Parking is free. Pros: indoor houses, atm, fast lines Cons: muddy parking lot, not very scary more

Phobia - 45 Mall of the Mainland location 10/9/2009

Went through all 3 houses 10/9/09. Only 1 was scary & that was Darke World. All 3 houses rely on the same scare tactic....someone jumps out at you around EVERY corner....so by halfway through, you KNOW someone is going to jump out around EVERY corner. That pretty much takes away the suspense. Since there were no lines, we went through each house in about 5 minutes. Totally not worth the money. We left here & went to Dungeon of Doom at the Kemah Boardwalk. THAT haunted house was WAY cheaper & a LOT scarier. Pros: No lines, plenty of mall parking (not in a muddy field) Cons: Overpriced & not scary more

Best Haunt in Houston 12/26/2008

This place was amazing, the atmosphere was crazy freaky, each house was about 15mins of non stop in your face actors/props and scares. The best in my opinion was Mind Control: The Asylum, 3D Clown Phobia, and Dawn of the Machine. Though they all made everyone in my group scream multple times, actors from the wodos even followed us out to the parking lot! I went to ScreamWorld and The Haunted Trails, and this one completely makes those too look like a garage scare. Pros: Crazy Scary, Good actors, fast moving lines, enterainment while you wait. Cons: Muddy, pricey more

30 Clown House 11/1/2008

I tried the Clown House at about 15 min after closing on Halloween night. I shot right through the line in 5 min and through the house in about the same 5 min. The actors were pretty good, they could have had better gear as it seemed like a bunch of 14 year olds in whitey tighties running around with a little white paint on their faces. This house didn't startle me, but hey it's clowns. For my partner with her biggest phobia being clowns........well I had to call a clown time out at one point. Pros: 5 houses to choose from Cons: quick tour more

Wow - Great Haunted Houses!! 10/27/2008

I took my girlfriend and brother to Phobia last Sunday. Did not expect it to be so good, with all the advertising and hype... But I must say it was really great. We bought a 3 house ticket and saw the woods, the clowns and the claustrophobia. we liked clowns the best, but it's all good. I would go back for more, just can't afford it before this hallowen. My girl hates clowns, too. Good to know. Love you always, Lisa. Pros: Many haunted houses in one big place Cons: crowded, but cool - could be cheaper, but gas is so high, what's cheap??? more

Phobia is Badass! 10/25/2008

Me and my friends checked out Phobia last nite. I was rather impressed. It was really crowded, but we liked it a lot. I wanted to go on Sunday or mid week, to skip the crowds. Friday night Surprise, man. They did a pretty good job, Phobia is the real deal!! I would just see 3 or 4 houses, not all of them. Then come back another night for the rest, Mind Control was my favorite. My brother liked the Robot house. Anyways, we have gone everywhere around here for 5 years now. I like Phobia the best. Out, baby. Pros: lots of big haunted houses Cons: It's priceee more

Phobia was Fun! 10/23/2008

We went to Phobia on 290 last nite. It was a blast.! Lots of cool stuff. Really crowded, but the lines moved pretty fast. Muddy from all that rain, but only in the parking lot. we saw 4 houses. And we want to go back for the other two next week. I give Phobia thumbs up, for sure. Pros: Huge w/ lots of good haunted houses Cons: Parking lot was wet more

Monumental Waste of Time 10/22/2008

This was the third haunted house I'd been to in a week, and by far the worst. First off, the entire place was nothing but mud. Our shoes were covered in it, so the carpet in my car was covered in it, and we almost got stuck several times. Indeed, there were two cars that WERE stuck in the mud, with no one helping them. If the park is built on mud, shouldn't it be their responsibility to get you out of it? The attractions weren't the least bit scary. You just walk through halls with actors standing in them, so you see them long before you get to them, and all they do is pound on the wall and growl at you. How is that scary? Maybe you'll jump the first time, MAYBE, but then it's the same thing every time. And to top it off, the girls taking your tickets looked like 16 yr old street walkers. I've never seen so much underage skin at one location in my life. Please don't waste your time or money going here. Scream World or the Haunted Trails are both WAY better. Both locations made me jump, which Phobia didn't do once. And my shoes STILL have mud on them from Phobia. Pros: Um...it's by the freeway, so you can make a quick exit when you realize how much it sucked Cons: Mud, not scary, mud, mud, and not scary. Did I mention it sucked? more

Freaky and scary 10/31/2007

This place is really cool. It's not close to where I live, but it's still worth the drive. There's a line to get in sometimes, but it's still totally worth it. Nobody touches you or bothers you, but there's lots of freaky stuff to see. more

Not Bad!!! 10/28/2007

Ok in a nut shell, there are 5 houses, I'd save the money and buy tickets for 2 of the houses, which was claustraphobia and the 3d clown house, those are pretty good and the actors are insane and seem to crawl out of everywhere. Theres amply parking and the lines move pretty quickly. Heres the killjoy, when entering each building, if possible, try to hang a ways back from the people in front of you, otherwise you'll see all the suprises wayyyyyyyyyyyy before your turn and it really ruins things. We tried to hang back, but they were really trying to move people through, so all the people jumping out ---we saw in advance which really ruined Simon woods. But really didn't care too much for the the asylum or dark insitute (im sure im screwing the names up, lol), just can't think what would of made those 2 better. Pros: Ample Parking and Access Cons: They move too many people at a time through, ruining the suprise for people in the back. more

best scare in town, 5 actual separate houses, prices, 9/22/2007

This place rocks! We skip all those other places to spend our cash at Phobia! 5 actual separate houses, not the other "top" haunted houses like to pull. We saw a girl who peed her pants she got so scared! Worth the long wait to get in the parking lot, lines for houses move quick. With all the houses, get your picture with Freddy or Jason, the radio stations and the freaks they have entertaining the people in line, it feels like a whole theme park! Show up when they open, or go on Sundays to avoid the crowds, and they have coupons on their website! Pros: best scare in town, 5 separate houses, prices, toprated every year by Chronicle Cons: lines to get in parking lot more

PHOBIA IS GREAT! VERY COOL 10/4/2006

We went last Saturday and Phobia is huge. There are like 4 or 5 haunted houses there. We saw 3, claustrophobia was the best. I think it's a new one. This is a pretty good place. Pros: Great Haunted Houses Cons: expensive more

PHOBIA ROCKS 10/13/2003

Went last year. it was good. This year it's even better. These guys are off the charts. There were long lines, but... Worth it Dude. Pros: Scary, Cool stuff Cons: Crowded more

Fright Delight 10/22/2002

Phobia was a knock out, literally. My friends and I got jumbled, tumbled, and rolled through the dark corridors. It was a blast! All four of us were a one man walking, screaming, laughing machine. Well worth the wait and expenses! Pros: parking, inexpensive, excitement Cons: water-logged more
