Pho Da Lat

I have to admit, ever since they have a new owner and under new management, everything has improved SUPERBLY. Their food quality, portions, prices, and special deals are all modified to benefit the customers. Their new management which took over just last month, has attracted many lost customers and new loyal customers. Stamp cards, 1$ off coupons are effective, and their bowls of pho are already cheap enough for such a high quality bowl of soup. GREAT Vietnamese dishes, reasonable pricing. more

I Love Love this place. I'm usually famished bye the time I arrive and they put my favorite soup in front of me in about 3 minutes. Lotsa beef and lotsa noodle. This place works! Pros: Lots of beef noodle soup and free parking. more

When it first opened this was an OK pho place. The pho broth was a bit heavy on the anise but relatively flavorful. The beef was lean and the rest of the soup acceptable. The last two times (and they will be my last two times) I've been here the pho has been awful. Tonight the broth tasted of little but anise. The ""beef"" (supposedly round and lean brisket) was mostly fat, connective tissue and bl**d vessels. I spent about ten minutes picking pieces of ""meat"" out of the soup, tearing the bits of actual meat out of the nasty stuff and piling up the nasty stuff on the basil and bean sprouts plate. I managed to get down about 1/3 of the soup before I gave up. The server never came by to ask how the food was - she must have known since after taking the order her next appearance was to silently deliver the bill. The place has changed over the past year. Used to be the generous portions made up for the restaurant's ""humble"" decor. It's still tasty, but the portions, of meat in particular, have become ridiculously meager. I literally counted four small pieces of round steak in my LARGE order of Pho Tai. My wife was similarly disappointed with the stingy amount of lemon grass chicken apportioned to her entree. Used to be our favorite casual Vietnamese restaurant, but we'll go elsewhere from now on. We need to pass a city ordinance against pho and pad thai for at least a year and force people to learn about some of the wonderful things these resturants offer in addition. Just because Pho is in the name, doesn't mean you have to eat that. Pros: unfortunate decor Cons: food, value, service more

ive been to pho dalat several times and i cant get enough of the pho there. the broth alone is amazing but the generous portions of beef and heaps of assorted greens make this hands down the best pho in portland. other things worth ordering are the super fragrant and delicious jasmine tea, and the jackfruit shake. the only thing that could be improved is the atmosphere, its kind of cafeteria-like. At Pho DaLat you can get a small bowl of beef noodle soup for $5.50 and a large bowl for $6.50. I can just barely finish a small bowl. I ordered the special combination beef noodle soup, which costs 50 cents more. Although the soup was very delicious, what's lacking here is a good description of menu items. The only description of this item was ""special combination beef noodle soup"". Does it have tripe in it? brisket? Does it come with jalapenos and basil? It turned out to be very good - and it did come with jalapenos and basil. It's just that they have a very extensive menu and it's difficult to know what you are ordering or to be able to differentiate one item from another. I will continue to go here because the food is good and the service is very gracious, but I hope some day they work on their menu.
