Great Time at the Lodge 1/11/2006

My family and I just recently returned from a weekend at the lodge and it was great. The eagles were in the trees down by the water and it was thrilling to see them. The lodge itself is very clean and the staff is friendly. We truly enjoyed the meals in the restaurant and found the local staff to be helpful in our eagle watching endeavours. Great place to stay and EAT! more

Need Restaurant Management help 12/2/2005

Went to Lodge on my daughters 16th birthday. Told us wait was 1 hour. Two hours later, I asked them for an honest estimate. They started to shout at me; they were under tremendous pressure to seat people. They finally sat us at a table and refused to wait on us. About as unprofessional place as I have ever dealt with. The place looks great and looks to have a lot of history. I have eaten there before and the food was average to better than average. I think they need some professional restaurant management consulting to help them. The manager was as rude as I have ever experienced. I have eaten at restaurants all over the world. Pros: Good Food Selection, Food OK Cons: Poor Service, Rude Management, Rude Waiters more

Frontier River Lodge 10/8/2002

It is almost like stepping back in time when you visit Pere Marguette Lodge. Nestled above the Illinois River with wide vistas of the river and the Missouri and Illinois sides of the river throughout the park it makes one feel like an explorer. Well worth a visit any time of year but especially in the Fall when the leaves change. The drive to Grafton or Alton, Illinois along the River Road with the white bluffs is beautiful. Pros: Fall colors are great, Great fireplace, Romantic setting Cons: No restaurants close, No nightlife, To far to commute more
