Our experience was good 5/26/2011

I have to echo the earlier reviewer who was mystified by the negative reviews of this place. Our experience was a good one from beginning to end. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished with a large TV, microwave, small fridge, and very comfy Sleep Number bed. The view was spectacular and, yes, there was a huge jacuzzi tub in slate-tiled bathroom. (Not all rooms have the tub -- or the view. If you want them, make sure you're booking a room that has them.) The closet was off at the back so was almost like a walk-in and held all our ski stuff easily. The one complaint I had was that the heater thermostat didn't seem to work -- it seemed to be either "off" or "on". The staff was friendly and I received emails before the stay asking if we had any questions / concerns, and after making sure everything had been OK. This is not a luxury hotel. It is a motel, but a decent one, especially for the price. I would definitely stay there again more

sparkling clean 5/25/2011

The facility is very central to Tahoe City?close walking distance to most of the restaurants and shopping. The front desk was helpful, courteous & friendly at check in and checkout. On-site parking was never a problem (even though the property was full). Our room was on the 5th floor and was clean and comfortable. We noted it to be a rather standard motel type room, with the extra touch of a larger than usual refrigerator, a small microwave, and the coffee set-up include beans that you grind yourself. The d?cor and furniture was in very good condition and there was updated flooring in the bath. There is no a/c, but we did not need it (but a portable fan is provided in the room). During our stay, we had a nice breeze through the room by opening the window in front and in the bathroom. We had no problems with noise, from either the street or other rooms. The included continental breakfast was good, but not great. Standard continental items: yogurt, cereals, sweet rolls, mini muffins, bagels (w/ toaster), toast, etc. There were also waffles that could be heated in the microwave, but we did not try them. Fresh fruit was not provided but would have been a welcome addition. The breakfast room was clean and well maintained, and service staff was constantly on duty cleaning tables and keeping everything properly stocked. We did not use the pool, but noted it is in a poor location?right next to the busy street?noisy and no privacy to relax. Seems like it is best suited only for a quick cooling dip on a hot day. However, we did note that it was sparkling clean. Overall, above average motel with all the necessities at a reasonable price. more

Amazing everything! 5/24/2011

The PTI is well maintained, in a great location, and provided a good value for the price. There are many restaurants, formal dining, casual, fast food, ice cream/coffee shops all only steps away. Not to mention the amazing view of Lake Tahoe! I couldn't get the wifi to work for me, and the person at the front desk referred me to the 800#. Luckily, being so close to the shops in the area, I was able to pick up the free wifi from that. This is great for those who are there for a pleasure trip. After spending the day in and around the lake, it was great to walk to dinner and not worry about driving. more

Most inviting 5/23/2011

Upon arrival in Tahoe City, this Inn is apparent, however not in the most charming manner. Yet there is some draw to this uncharacteristic structure. The pool is inviting with its' blue hue and sparkling waters.I found the staff to be most inviting, particularly when compared with the surrounding options. Without reservations, my options were expressed in an easily understood manner. Having lost my AAA membership card during recent travels, the Innkeeper provided the necessary support to discount the room rate accordingly. Friendly and helpful in all manner, the staff was above the grade. The renovated rooms were superior in design to most in the area. A warm, and pleasing feel of comfort welcomes the traveler upon entrance to their room. Ammenities are abundant without overwhelming the space. The continental breakfast goes beyond normal selections. A presentation of healthy, delicious foods, and beverages await consumption. The peaceful setting found on my trip was enjoyable. As my stay was on the weekend before the start of school, I feel that these conditions are likely to be found in the off-season. I would recommend a stay at this Inn, noting that like all summer/winter destinations, seasonal variations are to be expected. more

Very nice! 5/20/2011

Came here after only staying at Cal Neva Resort for only one night. The guy at the counter was very nice. The hotel is right across from the lake and a shopping mall. The beds were a little uncomfortable. This hotel was a blessing after staying at Cal Neva Resort. more

Pretty good 5/18/2011

Unlike the last review we came across on here, we booked the room through the hotels website so didn't encounter any of the problems mentioned there. We stayed for two nights and had a newly refurbished tower room with great views of the lake. The room was pretty large and had a very comfortable bed along with a fridge, microwave etc... The location is also pretty good if you are after a quiet time away from the hustle of South Tahoe. All in all, well worth the more

Very accomodating 5/12/2011

The hotel was great. This is my 3rd visit and I have stayed in the two story rooms as well as the tower rooms. This is my first time to write a review. My room was nicely decorated with warm mountain decor as well as spotless. The cool breeze at night was wonderful to sleep under. The management team was great and very accomodating to my special needs. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family! more

Great hotel, decent price, central location. The hotel was walking distance to everything in this small town. 1 block from the lake. Very clean room and the hotel is well maintained. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation. more

Superb experience 5/10/2011

Superb experience. We made a 3-day trip up, stayed friday and saturday night. We were in room 301 with the whirlpool tubs. The room was in great condition. Good amount of space for our snow gear, and a heater on a side wall panel that was convenient to dry off our snow gear overnight. Bed was one of the most comfortable we've ever slept on at a hotel. They were the ones that let you customize how firm or soft the bed is on each side. My side was broken, but the bed still felt great. It felt new. Nice and quiet, couldn't hear anybody else except when a few people stomped up and down the stairs right outside. Most people took the elevator. Great view of the city and lake tahoe. Walking distance to restaurants and a few shops. The bathroom looked newly renovated, the flooring and wall panels in the shower / tub were a beautiful rock tile. The tub whirlpool jets were a little loud, but we could still talk. It was a great way to relax our muscles after a full day up at Squaw. Downside was that the room didn't have a fan to blow moisture out, so you have to keep the window open. Not a big deal. Breakfast was great. Waffles, toast, french toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, apples, coffee, tea, apple / orange juice, pastries.. I'm sure I missed a few things. There was a lady in the room the entire time who was cleaning up the tables, making sure everything was perfectly clean and stocked for the next people to come in. 7am - 10am. Early enough so you can eat and get to the hill before the crowds. There are two parking areas. While up top is for SUV's and larger vehicles, the underground parking fits an additional 6-7 smaller passenger vehicles. They ask you to park there if you have a smaller vehicle. It snowed about a foot saturday night, and we had a hard time getting out the following morning. However by 8:20am they had the snow removed, and were salting the ramp. It still wasn't enough for us to get out even with our chains on, but they asked a person to move from his parking spot right in front of the ramp so we could get a running start, then we got out on the first try. They were very helpful though. Management was very friendly. They will give you a 10% discount with a AAA membership, but if you buy the package that gives you lift tickets they won't take the 10% off. So check to see if you can get cheaper tickets elsewhere or at least separately so you can still get the 10% off your room. Their website didn't say anything about AAA, I was a little surprised to see it when I went in to get our room keys. Oh well, now we know for our next trip. more
