Quality product a bit pricey but well worth it.

there a joke 7/20/2010

All the 5 * are all done by the company they pay some one to do that all day that way all the bad stuff goes down the screen more

Enough is enough 7/20/2010

Well, I've been sitting on the sidelines for awhile now and feel it's time to throw out my opinion. I am the West Coast representative of Great Lakes Window who is the company that manufactures the window for Penguin and have for about 10 years. Quite honestly, I don't understand all the negative reviews. In the time I've been associated with Penguin all I've seen is a commitment to customer service never before witnessed. In fact, before Penguin started selling our product, they were selling a window from a manufacturer in Eastern Washington. Unfortunately, that company went out of business a few years back. Today, if a Penguin customer calls with a warranty of that product, Penguin buys a new window from us and installs it in the customers house at no charge (self warranty beyond the manufacturer). Many dealers would (understandably) direct the homeowner to whatever organization holds the warranty and let them fend for themselves. It seems when a customer signs up with Penguin, they are taken care of for life, not bad I'd say. In fact, they have helped make us a better manufacturer due to their high expectations . Regarding the sales tactics, I have been fortunate to sit in and witness their training classes. They are tough and the sales staff is required to know a lot. I've seen them instructed to not mislead, apply undue pressure or fabricate information. Pricing, are they expensive? Probably but that's what happens when the window you buy is the most expensive made, and worth every penny. Couple that with an install team that is directed to take their time to insure the product performs as well 30+ years from now as the day it was installed and add a warranty that covers everything for as long as the customer resides in their home. Finally, we have made every effort possible to create a product that will save energy, last a long time, add beauty to the home and increase security. Why would we risk the best product made in America on a company that wasn't World Class? Steve 619-292-1285 more

What an absolute joke. 7/17/2010

Penguin is a scam. Period. Anyone willing to pay 2000$ per unit is insane. They are windows that cost penguin 200-300 per copy. Call any general contractor for a second opinion. They will beat pelicans price by a mile. Only idiots don't send in their notice of cancellation. more

New Windows and Door 7/16/2010

A few months ago I had a garden window and a new slider patio door replaced. the window and slider faced full west and the old door frame had warped and was leaking. The house was only 5 years old! Milgard would do nothing about the "melted" doorframe and because I lived in the Puget Sound area -- but more than two miles from the sea -- they still would not do anything and quoted the one year warranty. The seals had broken and the glass was all scratched from the previous owner's dogs. I had priced out replacements and was looking at 4-6K but most products from the local home improvement stores only came with a 2 year warranty. I had the Penguin reps come in and yes they spent quite some time going over the product with me. The price was higher than I had originally thought it would be, but here are the pros for me: 1) the triple panes would cut the glare and i wouldn't have to have blinds to cut out the full west sun's heat and light. 2) I live on a road at the back and 3 panes might cut the noise. 3) it is hot in the summer and cold in the winter in my family room. All three pro's were realized. the noise from the street is abated, the sun and light shines fully in but the heat does not, the glare from the windows which block my TV is gone. I don't have to have ugly blinds to cover up the beautiful windows. the door is now straight and I can have a screen again. I had the door etched with square grids and they are beautiful. The products are solid and I think worth every penny. I had three windows/doors on the back of my house where the sun is. Initially I just replaced the door and garden window. A couple of months later I had the third one done and I'm already saving to do another window. The sales reps are great and have worked with me to do one at a time as I can afford. I will eventually replace all the windows. As I've seen in other comments, you get what you pay for. For me, the three panes of glass adds so much more. The installations crews are excellent; I'd do it all again more

Comfort, AT LAST!!! 7/13/2010

Good: I purchased Penguin Windows for the energy savings and the resale value, and the funny thing is...the comfort is the part I never thought I cared about, but it is amazing what a difference they made.. Bad: I realized how horrible my old windows were, wish I would have taken care of them sooner. Improvements: I wish they could've made them faster to get them in my home. Other: These guys go above and beyond taking care of their customers...I had a few concerns going into it about having someone in my home, but the two salesmen that came to the door were ready with business cards and ID badges, not to mention they were very courteous of our time. My wife is skeptical of letting people into our home, and if they can gain her trust, I would personally recommend them to anyone looking into windows. more

Windows: through the looking glass 7/13/2010

We have 13 windows and 3 sliding glass doors at our home - all are Penguin Windows products. The investment in windows/doors was the single best home improvement we've done to our home without question! The energy savings, safety factor and comfort (level) were the major reason(s) we moved forward with the window system for our home. The aluminum windows had served their purpose and it was time to update. The generous size of our window openings made it a big priority because the winter months were a smidge drafty next to the windows - what a "pane" that was? (smile.) The bonus was: we had a 5 foot sliding glass door removed and put in a 9 foot sliding glass door in its place - the den is now our single favorite place to be in the whole house. Throughout the entire process we were treated personally and professionally by their staff and installation crew. Over the three and one-half days of installation we became aware of how much tedious care they take to do it right the first time(!) and back up their craftsmanship with a lifetime warranty that gives us peace of mind. Another bonus: when/if we relocate the Penguin Window warranty stays with the home and transfers to the next homeowner. We recommended Penguin Windows to our friends and they now have them too. We would recommend them without reservation because all our experiences have been very postitive. Warm regards.... more

We LOVE the windows and the customer service, funny how the major bashers of the company are EX employees. Why are we such a society that we don't take responsibility of ourselves, yet blame the company for being fired, hum.... more

So professional 7/13/2010

We love our windows!!! We love the company too. We have worked with them twice now. The last set of windows we bought from them to finish our house turned out as wonderful and the first time. We highly recommend this company. Don't go with the cheap crappy windows out there. You will waste your time and money! Speaking from experience we will always choose quality for all our home projects from this point forward. Thank you Penguin! more

Love this company! 7/13/2010

Its hard to find a great solid company who stands behind their product. We are so happy with our new windows. The install was so professional and done in a timely manner! Penguin windows are worth every penny! Our home now has an added value thanks to their energy efficient and gorgeous looking windows. I'm in the construction business so I know what is quality and what is just plain old cheap! more

Be careful with Penguin 5/25/2010

Penguin Windows has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau and over 50 complaints as of May-- Also Penguin recently settled a suit with the Attorney Generals office over misrepresentation and false claims: See http://www.komonews.com/news/consumer/86025767.html or google "Penguin Windows Attorney General" more

We are so pleased 5/22/2010

We love our new windows. They have made a huge difference in both the look of our home and the way we live. The whole process was a delight from beginning to end. Our salesman was very professional - he took the time to ask questions and guide us to the right choice for us. The installation crew was fantastic - they showed up on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and left our home cleaner than it was before. more

"We Love Them" 5/19/2010

I just had to write to tell you about the two large bay window conversions we had installed yesterday. The team of Kevin, Wayne, and Scott arrived exactly when they said that they would. They immediately put covers over all of my furniture and placed drop cloths on the floor so that the rug wouldn't get ruined. Mind you the rug came with the house and is about 5 years past its better days. They were personable and completely professional. The windows are georgeous! We used to have two large bay windows that we converted to two large flat windows. We can already notice the difference in the family room. It used to be very drafty and chilly in the morning and now I don't have to wear a sweatshirt when I get up. We live on a main road and we can't even hear the cars going by anymore. After the install was complete (and I took pictures of every aspect), Kevin took me through the operation of the windows. Kevin, Scott, and Wayne cleaned the windows, vacumed, and even swept the deck which was less of a mess after they left than before. If it weren't for the fact that I have new windows, no one would ever have known that anyone was there. From the first day we met Rosemary (our salesperson) to the install, we couldn't be happier!! When it's time, we will definately use Penguin Windows for our future replacements. If possible, We are going to request Kevin, Wayne and Scott from the Danvers, MA team to do the install. I saw some of the other reviews on this site and I can assure you that I am a very satisfied customer and not a person who works for them and was given an "incentive" to write this review. We couldn't have made a better choice! Glenn and Christine, Raynham, MA more

Review/ Kevin, Wayne, Scott 5/12/2010

We would like to let people know how pleased we are with our new Penguin Windows - and also, the terrific workmanship done by the installation team (Kevin, Wayne, and Scott from the Danvers office). We replaced windows on our second floor last summer (2009) and were so impressed that we went on ahead and did the first floor just this week. These windows are truly unbelievable...what a big difference we noticed during this past winter!!! The second floor was so much warmer and, yes, even quieter!! Our sales person, Mike (also from the Danvers branch) was so professional, and he made some terrific suggestions about having wood-grain frames put on kitchen and living room windows....we are so glad that we took his advice. The installation crew, Kevin, Wayne, and Scott did an amazing job - they also had to install a bay window assembly unit (it was huge) and everything went so smoothly. They worked so well together and we could tell, they really knew what they were doing. Their communication with us was great - and they both encouraged and answered all our questions. When they finished their work, they cleaned everything up "spotlessly" - we couldn't believe how neat they were both inside and outside our house. Finally, before they left, they gave us a great demonstration of how these windows open, lock, and clean. We were shown how to get the screens in and out without having to ask. These windows are a great product - worth "every penney". The crew did an excellent job and hey are truly professionals!! A great investment on our part with a life-time guarantee!!! Our Experience 4/28/2010

There really are satisfied customers out here that have gone with Penguin Windows, and I am one of them. Sorry to those who have had anything but a pleasant experience. If I had listened to the garbage being spewed here and on other sites, I would have made a terrible mistake. I am completely satisfied with everything from start to finish!!! more

Penguin incentivized their employees to write good reviews. 4/21/2010

It's total bs. Every good review on here is written by an employee of penguin. They are a total rip off. They treat their employees and customers like total trash. more

Penguin "all the way"! 4/19/2010

Over the past year we had all our windows replaced, plus a copper roof, slider, and a garden window. The quality of these windows are really great, the service was indeed a pleasure. No hassle the guys who did the job were very neat and were perfectionists Kevin and Scott. All in all you get what you pay for, warranty is good for your life time, or who ever buys your house it's continued. These are three pane windows and look beautiful! We love them, we won't be getting any windows in our life time! more

Tar and Feather 4/11/2010

best for thermal efficency by far 3/15/2010

I haggled with price with 3 different window companies for about 3 months before going with Penguin. It payed off when I got my windows 40% cheaper than the 1st price I was quoted. I dealt with the window salesman of the 3 companies in the same manner as purchasing a new car. I TALKED THEM DOWN ALOT over 3 months. Andersen windows were the biggest pieces of junk and the most expensive of the 3 companies. All they have is name recognition. They wanted extra $ for stuff that Penguin included for free(exterior cladding, int. trim etc.) The Penguin installation guys out of Danvers MA were courteous and professional. My house was cleaner when they finished than it was before they started. I think their names were Evan and Dwayne. I have saved over 50% on my heating bills since and love my Penguin windows.I recomend them to everyone. Bill B. more

integrity and honesty 3/10/2010

I first felt the price was a joke, but then realized that you get what you pay for. Why would I spend $24750. For windows when I can spend 9700 to get it done. Well I had to think would I hire some one from craigslist to do major work on my 80 thousand dollar mercedes. Heck no, I gonna make sure its the best. Merceds specialist to town to touch my car. My house is three times that plus I did buy my house to invest in it. I invest in stock and so on. I will never in my life purchase or have a worry about a window again. I also checked the reality of donations penguin. gives and it is way. Above and. beyond. what they take credit for, I researched what they trully do. I am trully honored to say my house is full of windows. People here are crying cause it took a few hours, well how many times have u bought a car and spent 6 hours haggling looking driving. Be thank ful it doesn't take days, months, years. And most the complaints from people are non owners of the service product company. Thank you more
