Well built by a company that stands behing it's products 8/18/2012

I bought a comfort cruiser in April of 2012. I needed a bike that met all the requirements for riding on bike trails in Orange County California so that I could use it to commute the 14.2 miles (one way) that I must to work. After accumulating 2000 miles on this great electric bike I can do nothing but recommend it strongly. There was about a month long period at the beginning where I needed to constantly tighten loosening spokes on the rear wheel as it "settled in" to the tremendous stress of my 195 lb weight and the torque that the 500 watt electric motor delivers to the rear wheel. Eventually one of the spokes broke. Now, 4 months later the rear wheel spokes never need any adjustment. Nothing else and I do mean nothing on this bike has broken or been a problem yet. The battery seems to keep it's charge just as long as when it was new even after 2000 miles and the bike continues to run strong every day to work and back. This is a simple, fast, reliable bike and the folks at Pedego (I use the Huntington Beach Store) are fantastic. Great customer service is always available by their friendly, knowledgable staff. Buy a PEDEGO ..... you will love it. more

One of the best purchases my husband and I have ever made. 8/7/2012

My husband and I purchased our first Pedego Comfort Cruisers about 3 years ago. Since then we have upgraded to the Interceptors (my husband in April and me a month ago) and now my husband has put in his order for the new City Commuter. We love these bikes so much. This year I decided to finally do something about losing some weight. With a change in my diet and riding my Pedego I have lost 90 lbs. Many people accuse me of "cheating" by having an electric bike. In my opinion, I am not cheating. I pedal the entire time I am riding. I use the electric power to assist me in strong headwinds and up hills. We recommend Pedego to everyone. The company's customer service is excellent- always available if you have any questions. Keep up the great work Pedego! My only suggestion is that you have a program if a family buys 5 bikes they get the 6th one for free. Ha! I can dream, can't I? Hope to one day get to Irvine to visit their offices and take a tour of their facilities. Rhonda and Chuck Martin more

The best electric you can buy... 8/6/2012

After retiring over two years ago, I bought a gas scooter from Dave in Huntington Beach. I love it and still have it, but he had these cool electric bikes.... A month later I took a test ride and was hooked. In 2 years, I've ridden over 2,000 miles and my Pedego is as good as it was when it was new. I love to spend my afternoons riding on the beach from Newport To Sunset. I have tried to flatten the battery riding 20-25 miles plus, but I can't do it...bullet proof. The only problem I've had is with my wife, she rode mine and then we went back to see Dave and order her Pedego. Now we ride together, it saved the marriage. I can't say enough about the dealers and the Corp staff, Don, Terry, and Ashley. Their customer service is impeccable. Thanks Pedego. more

Great choice if you want a quality electric bike. 7/30/2012

What a blast! Took me all of 5 minutes to assemble which only meant attaching the handle bars and pedals...and they included the tools. We didn't have a dealer in Alabama so I had to call the factory in California after reading an article about it in the Wall Street Journal. Most comfortable bike I have rode in years and it goes surprisingly fast. Much better then a scooter because it looks like a normal bike, you can pedal when you want, and it goes very fast. It came charged and 99.9 assembled. Beautiful bike. I bought the navy blue with gray tires. I am no longer left in the dust when my family goes on bike rides...and I love the little bell. Well worth the money and excellent customer service. more

Top Notch 7/27/2012

I never had an electric bike but heard many horror stories. This Pedego Electric is very superior to almost anything out there..more than I thought I'd spend but after 600 miles or so, many recharges and never a failure I love it. Keep up the good work folks. more

man I dig these bikes 7/18/2012

Bought two bikes without a test ride based solely on the pedego presentation and reviews I saw. The chap Stan I purchased them from was very prompt with all communication regarding the sale, almost like buying from a favorite uncle. We live in Seattle and have steep hills, on my second day I took it up a 21 grade and darn it if the bike did make it! I had to peddle hard but it got up with my 57 year old legs. This is a hill I need to walk my uber expensive mountain bike up. I had a scratch on the frame (my fault) a call to pedego and they sent paint for both bikes no charge. Cant wait for pedego accessories to come to market. My wife and I are bonding and seeing the neighborhood like never before. I like it when a product exceeds my expectations, get the 15ah battery if you expect hills. we have signed up for a MS ride. Can't wait to blow by the road bikes ringing my cool handlebar bell "on your left" more

Replacement Part Service 7/14/2012

We no more than got our new Pedego bike home and as carefully as possible, removing it out of our RAV4, did we pop off the front reflector. I e-mailed the company on Saturday, knowing I would probably hear back on Monday. Not only did we hear back on the same weekend day, but also was informed that the part was on its way! I call that excellent service. Thank you Pedego Electric Bikes!!! more

High Quality, Economical and So Much Fun! 7/13/2012

My total experience with Pedego has been beyond excellent. I'm a 66 yr. old man and bought my Pedego 2 years ago to get some exercise and save some money on gas. It's become my second car. Whenever possible I ride it rather than drive. I love it most because it's so cool and so much fun to ride! I lost 40 lbs. since buying this high quality bike just riding it every day. Customer Service is fantastic. They bend over backwards to help you. I would recommend Pedego to anyone who wants a high quality, economical electric bicycle. more

Best bike ever! 7/13/2012

Bought my Pedego two months ago and use it as a daily commuter in the south bay where I live. My office isn't too far from home, but there are some big hills in between. No problem with my Pedego! it's so convenient not to worry about finding parking and feeding the meter wherever I go. My car is a hybrid and I can't remember the last time I had to fill the tank. Commuting via Pedego is fun and fast. I have taken it twice from Manhattan Beach to Santa Monica (and back) to visit friends on lovely summer days. Each time, I've cruised the bike path and avoided the summer traffic snarl. Love this bike. So glad I bought it! And, when I thought I had a mechanical problem, Pedego's staff (Terry) helped me out immediately so I was back riding within minutes. Last benefit worth mentioning, since I am riding every day, I am getting more exercise, looking and feeling stronger, healthier and slimmer. Love it! more

We are having a blast with our Pedego Bikes! 7/11/2012

What fun we have had with the two bikes we bought from Pedego. I have a beautiful yellow bike and my husband has a black one. Everywhere we go people stop us to ask about our bikes. I find myself getting out more and riding since I have the electric back up. It really helps when I am coming back from the store with all my groceries! Thank you Pedego for making such a great quality product and providing us so much fun. more

Pedego Interceptor: just about perfect 6/22/2012

At seven oclock yesterday I pulled my gloves on, buckled my helmet, climbed on my Pedego Interceptor on Main Street in Santa Monica and headed north. I took off for the Sepulveda Pass. The tunnel, the apex of the ride was 1,000 feet up and ten miles away. When I got to the top of the hill 30 minutes later, I kept going. I had half my battery left, at least. I knew I could go down into the San Fernando Valley, turn around, climb back up the hill, and still make home before dark. I did not buy lights. I'm cruising up on 57 and teach in a Valley high school. I've ridden bicycles all my life, on and off, even built a commuter. If I had the time, the tools, and the space (apartment dweller, no garage) I would have built this thing myself. It has purpose. You can tell that by looking at it. Riding it only cements that first impression. I needed a bike to take me over the pass and back almost every day. I needed the exercise. My regular touring bike, good is, takes two and a half hours to get from home to school, and you get there wrecked. Today, within 24 hours of twisting my first throttle, I made the trip over the hill in an hour, pedaled as much as I wanted to, got to work and felt great. The more you ride, the stronger you get, the more you can pedal assist, and the farther you can go). I looked at other bikes. There was gas. Messy, expensive and now you need a motorcycle mechanic or a lawnmower repair guy. Some were cool, looking like refugees from a 1912 motorbike ad. Others just looked as flimsy as they had to feel. Cheap motors on cheap bikes. Besides, it has to go up the stairs and into the apartment. No garage, remember. Looked at motorcycles. Some were cute, things from the sixties and seventies and 100 or 150 ccs. Of course then you could go in the highway if you went up to 250ccs. Four grand out the door, and no place to keep them. They tend to weigh 300lbs or better. With 2 strokes you mix fuel? With 4 strokes you go to the pump. They started at four grand, and come needing a vehicle license every year and a new drivers license you need to get. Scooters? Sorry, just too sedate for me. I looked at other ebikes. Lordy there are plenty, and most from guys you never heard of. There were major players, the big bicycle companies. Their bikes were sedate, mild, maybe reliable, They had weak motors mounted on cruisers, on mountain bikes, on road bikes. I couldnt see any of them taking the pass. One had to be operated by a keyboard, while you rode, and in traffic. They cost a mint. There were new guys, by that I mean guys who never made anything but ebikes. Some are out to save the planet, even if you never get anywhere. Some make factory floor cruiser trikes, and a bike or two with two wheels and a motor. Some are gonzo. One reportedly took the most powerful motor he could find and stuck it on the cheapest bike he could get, and the motor ripped the bike to shreds. One makes every kind of imaginable bike, and with all kinds of motors, but didnt have the endurance. Then I came across the Pedego Interceptor. The bike is not brand new. What I read in the older reviews, and saw in the older pictures was the same bike. Its solid, as much that 1912 motorcycle with a 2012 propulsion system as you can get. It has purpose. You get big fat tires. You get a springer seat post and a springer sadle that is softer than a hotel bed. You get cushy grips. You dont get four pistons in the frame and four more in the fork. It rides on the boulevards and side streets and country roads effortlessly, or you can pedal some, get your moderate cardio in and still cruise past those poor folks stuck on sunset boulevard getting mad at the world. It has a THROTTLE. You turn the grip and you get a little help from the motor, or you can stop pedaling and get a lot. Do what you want. Youre sittin on the thing, pedaling along at your target heart rate, getting exactly what you came for. Thats on the flats or climbing a mountain pass. All the while, youre fairly sure youll never run out of power. If you get tired, or close to work and want to cool down, you stop pedaling and let the throttle do the work. It has locks, yknow, those things with little metal keys. The battery has a lock that shuts off the battery in one position, and unlocks it from the mount so you can carry it off in another. I needed that. Theres another little lock at the rear of the drum brake mechanism. That locks the rear wheel. And nobodys gonna swipe your electronic combination from your remote. Some of the twentieth century is worth keeping. Im still using my trusty U-lock. Heck, I could even get one of those 20lb chains. Its not like I have to haul the thing around with pedal power alone. As I said, I have bikes . . . and bags, and lights, and a helmet, and gloves. Good news: all that stuff works. Its sturdy, but its still a bike, and Im putting my 15 dollar cateye cycle computer on it, as soon as I get to the drug store to get the cheapo watch battery it runs on. Threw on my handlebar bag. Sweet. Mounted my little rearview mirror on my glasses. You want to see behind you at 20 miles per. I hoisted the bike up on my shoulder and carried it down the stairs. All that bulky aluminum is really pretty light, especially if you leave the battery behind for a second trip, or just carry it in the other hand. I emailed the company last night, had a technical question. I usually send my emails at eight or so in the evening and expect an answer in a month. One of the owners reads my email and responds at 10:39 PM! By the way, you can drape saddlebags over the battery, no sweat. Don said so, and he would know. It may not be exactly the same, but it felt like calling apple and getting Steve Jobs on the line in 1983. I know what you might be thinking: Sure, its Christmas afternoon and the kid is still in love with his toy and having wide awake visions of sugar plums. Except Im cruising up on 57. And wonder ain't as easy to come by as it used to be. Ive been working over this get some exercise, get away from the pump, do it with a little style and have some fun thing for . . . four years now. Ive seen and ridden good, and this is it. I have a frugal colleague. Nice man. Smart, careful, never wasteful or foolish. He rode it, looking for all the world like a kid havin' the time of his life. He asked me what it ran, out the door. I said 26. He stroked his jaw, looked at it, looked off, probably calculated the gas, figured the exercise and the maintenance, and said Thats really good. Now Im going to unplug my charger from the wall socket, toss it in the handlebar bag and head for home, over the pass, or who knows, maybe Shoot Topanga Canyon. . . thats after another colleague gets a turn or two around the parking lot. I think he wants one. more

So far a very good experience! 6/20/2012

Ive had my Comfort Cruiser for less than a week, but I ride it every day. Ive had experience with one other electric bike, and that probably just makes the Cruiser feel even better. Its solid and comfortable, and with the full balloon tire package must have a definite sedan feel. The motor handles hills and headwinds well, and gives you good power for quick starts in traffic. I havent had any problems with the bike, but customer service has found ways to be amazing already. This started with being helpful before I made my choice. So far a very good experience! more

Fantastic bikes and customers service. 6/12/2012

We have had our 2 bikes for about a month now and have enjoyed riding them almost everyday. We like that these bikes are as easy to petal as non electric bikes, and they have the elecrical power to climb the hills in our subdivision. The Pedego bikes feel solid when riding and we look forward to be riding them for many years. As for customer service, my charger stopped working and I called them and they shipped me a new one next day air, at no charge, because we were going on vacation in 2 days. You can' ask for better service than that. more

Love it!! 6/11/2012

The bikes are great. (We own two) My husband had his knee replaced 2/12 and this is the very best physical therapy for him. No need to worry about his knee getting tired with the battery assist. It is also possible to pull a trailer for kids with them. I highly recommend the bikes. The Pedego people are very kind and helpful if we have any questions or concerns about the bikes. more

Best Electric Bike I Have Ever Owned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 6/1/2012

Over the past seven years I have owned and ridden many electric bike brands and models, but my Pedego Interceptor is by far and away, the best electric bike I have ever had the pleasure of riding. It is a quality product that is reliable, comfortable, powerful, and also has an outstanding retro cruiser look. Pedego has outstanding Customer Service and has answered all of the questions I had about their electric bikes. I would highly recommend Pedego to anyone who is looking to discover or rediscover the joy of bike riding with the added assist of an electric motor to enhance their bicycling experience. more

Outstanding bike - I recommend it without reservation! 5/27/2012

I bought a Pedego Step-Thru Interceptor Model which I've had for about 2 months now. It is truly outstanding and I'd like to list some specifics that I've found: 1. Weight and bulk - this bike is more or less equivalent to driving a GMC Yukon. It lacks the agility of a light mountain bike, but is quite stable and comfortable to ride. There is a learning curve re controlling it but in a week, the owner will master it and be quite confident and proficient. 2. Comments on the electric motor assist (I find this to be invaluable for the following reasons): a. Stamina enhancer - I am 73 and, although I'm in pretty good shape physically, I don't have the sheer stamina that I used to; it is very nice when I've gone a long distance, i.e., 15-20 miles without assist, to know that I have the electric assist in reserve for the return trip, especially the twist throttle that allows me to ride without pedaling. b. Acceleration: due to the bike's weight and bulk, it is sometimes difficult to get going from a stop, especially on an incline - in these situations, I find that the motor will give a much appreciated boost to get me up to speed when it would be very difficult without the assist. c. Motor can keep you out of trouble in "bunch-up" situations: I do most of my riding on a bike path on Cape Cod - in the summer, it is very congested and people have a habit of riding in packs, occupying most of width of the bike path, which can be very harrowing if you encounter them. In these situations, I simply engage the motor, sound the bell and glide past most of them in less than a minute, accompanied by looks of amazement and envy on their part. d. Ease of top speed adjustment: I found that my insurance carrier would not issue me liability insurance for the e-bike unless its top speed was 15 mph. As shipped from the factory, it has a nominal top speed of 20 mph. I found, when I called the factory, that the folks there were extremely helpful and told me how to access a potentiometer in the rear of the bike (extremely easy to do) and adjust its speed by turning a screw on the potentiometer. This was extremely important to me because I felt that the danger of liability if I happened to injure someone was imply too great to act as a self-insurer! This alone makes the e-bike the one of choice as far as I'm concerned. e. Battery charge longevity: I've never driven 30 miles on battery alone, but after 3-5 miles of assist, I've found that the charge still registers "full." I think the Lithium ion battery is superb and am extremely happy with its capacity (I have the 48 ampere battery, which is standard with the Interceptor). As far as I'm concerned, the Pedigo is the best on the market and fairly priced. Their dealer network is expanding and I am confident that once the public "catches on" that we will see many more of them. more

LOVE my Pedego 5/11/2012

I have owned two previous electric bikes and have tried many. None have come close to the Pedego experience. It is comfortable, well-made, and FUN to ride, in addition to being beautiful. (People do stop me on the street to tell me how great looking the bike is and to ask about it.) Electric bikes have really evolved over the years -- I bought my first lead-acid battery behemoth over 10 years ago, and on the evolutionary scale, that one was a primate! This Pedego cruiser is elegant. I've had this bike for a year now, and I still enjoy it every bit as much as I did in the beginning. more

Life Changing Product 5/10/2012

The pedego cruiser has been amazing. I have cut my commute time dramatically and enjoy my smooth and comfortable ride to work. I have saved money on fuel and parking while helping the environment. The attention to style and function remind me a lot of Apple products. more

The best bike I've ever owned. 4/5/2012

I just wanted to send you a personal thanks, for selling such an amazing bike. On Monday night, while doing my usual commute home from work, I hit a pothole that I didn't see at all (no streetlights, and even with a very bright headlight, it was not visible at that angle). I took a tumble, and in part because I used to mountain bike for a number of years, I put the bike down under me to minimize my impact with the asphalt. The Pedego came up like a champ- I'm gonna need to find some touch up paint for the handlebars, and the left handbrake got twisted around (already got that straightened out)- but the frame and all other components came out just fine. Once I did a quick check over that I wasn't broken (or missing any components), I was even able to ride the next couple of blocks home. Thank you again, because I'm convinced, if I would have picked a lesser bike, the outcome might not have been so fortunate. more
