Took out a quart of "chicken soup" the other day - was looking forward to good old fashioned "Jewish penicillin". How they could call this "homemade soup" is beyond me. It was absolutely NOT real soup- tasted like the terrible "chicken" bullion cubes you buy in the bottle. There were supposed to be vegetables in the soup - there were two or three tiny pieces of carrot and even they looked canned. What a disappointment and waste of over $6.00!!!! more

In a word, terrible. Ordered a rachel sandwich, which includes their namesake meat, pastrami , matzo ball soup, and side of potatoes salad. Service was slow, and unfriendly. Pastrami was "national brand," sliced from a deli package (so much for real corned beef or pastrami hot from the steam table). Portion of meat was small, particularly for the price. Chicken soup stock seems to be a packaged variety, with a few carrots thrown in to make it appear homemade. Potato salad was clearly of the industrial kind and not made on or any where near the premises (appears all their salads are bought in bulk and not made there). Pickle was good though. \r \r Not even close to a true Jewish Deli, more like an unfriendly Publix deli counter at twice the price. more

My lunch started out with a comp sour pickle. It was crunchy, not to sour, saltly and good. You could tell it was homemade. Next I had a bowl of the soup of the day which was Mushroom and Barley (see pic). It was a nice balance of mushrooms and barley in a thick broth. I then had the Turkey Melt with Fries (see pic). It was piled high with turkey and served with thick steak fries. I enjoyed it too.\r \r The service was good for me, but I could tell that some of the other tables were not happy because their server kept disappearing and their food was taking a long time to come out. My experience was good and here's why, I was waiting for my sandwich to come out and a guy, who I later found out was the owner, came over and asked if I needed anything. I replied no thank you and he went about his business. Maybe about 5 minutes later ( which seems like forever when you are eating alone) I was still waiting for my sandwich and the owner looked over and immediatlely yelled from the cash register, in that New York Deli way, to kitchen and asked where my order was and that he needed it yesterday. The owner winked at me and I nodded and smiled back in approval. Within a minute my food was delivered. Thanks Ray (the owner) he doesn't know me at all, but his attention to detail/service was excellent.\r \r This place has extensive menu and it's a typical New York/Jewish Deli. The one word that came to my mind about this place was, character. It's got great character, good food and I love people watching in places like this. Remember to tell them Dan sent you for the free sour pickle:) and Stay Hungry! more

Food was ok. Service was pretty subpar. The things I put up with for pastrami. Probably won't be coming back. The sun sentinel review was totally off about the waitstaff. more

Great place for NYC style deli 3/14/2009

Outstanding service, food and slaw. But pricy for sandiches ($10 avg). Stuffed pepper looked good\r I had the Pastrami, it was very lean (don't need to pay the extra $1 for extra lean). Icetea was homemade. Pros: Quality of food, free slaw, pickle Cons: Price more

TAKE IT FROM A REGULAR - THE FOOD IS GOOD! 12/14/2008

I frequent this restaurant at least 2x a month. I enjoy the deli favorites here. While its not New York, it is as close as we get down here in south florida! The matzoh ball soup is tasty- now its not moms but it tastes like its from chicken stock or bullion. The sandwiches are served on the small side, so if you like a hearty sandwich order the medium or the large and you will be glad you did! The dinners are good for the money, although they appear to be preparred early and served during the day. Stick with the Deli meats (corned beef, pastrami, tongue, turkey, etc.....) oh.... the chicken salad sandwich is really good too! Generally friendly wait staff, although sometimes they get busy there and are hurried around. If you want a good sandwich, its worth the trip. more

I had one of the best corned beef sandwiches that I ever ate, there. The matza ball soup was good too. My waitress was horrible. She was miserable and made me feel like it was an imposition that I was there. She didn't even "ask" me what I wanted. She never said a word, just stood in front of me, staring at me waiting for me to tell her what I wanted. She took my order and disappeared in the back. I sat and stared at my sandwich on the counter for at least 10 min. It was not busy, only 6-7 people in the restaurant. Finally ANOTHER waitress saw my sandwich sitting there, and brought it over to me. My waitress never asked me if I wanted anything else and kind of threw my bill on the table without saying a word and left. more
