Editorial review from Citysearch 2/27/2013

To sum up what I am about to write: AVOID THIS PLACE. I am not going to go into detail about how rude their waitstaff is but it ruined our entire meal. No matter how good their food is, I doubt you want to get yelled at by your waiter when you leave a 15% tip in front of the whole restaurant. The waitstaff is disrespectful and does the bare minimum to serve you. After leaving a 15% tip (even after horrible service), the waiter proceeded to flick me off in the restaurant before yelling at our table. The manager who was standing only 2 feet away also chose to ignore his waiter's actions and never reprimanded him or apologized to our table.\r \r You may look on their Facebook and see great reviews and think I am in the wrong. Well I had a feeling they erase any negative review they may have so I took a screenshot of my review. Sure enough, this morning my post is gone from their Facebook.\r \r I advise you to avoid this place. You will enjoy your meal but the service will ruin it. Avoid bringing friends, family or visitors from out of town because you will be embarrassed by the waiters that you chose a place like this to bring the people you love....unless you like seeing the people you love get yelled at with insults more

Excellent all the way around! 5/6/2010

I've never had a bad meal here. Everything from the warm foccacia bread served with herbed olive oil for starters to the fantastic tiramisu for dessert is a treat! By far my fave is the chicken saltimbucco (probably misspelled that), but every day the specials change and from time to time some real surprises have popped up. Another reviewer claimed they didn't appreciate the waiter's ""overly casual demenor,"" but I think they're very friendly and just rather laid back, which is done intentionally to make you feel at home. Overall, possibly the best Italian restaurant in Atlanta. Pros: great food and friendly service Cons: might be tough to find parking more

Best Ravioli (apple and sausage) 2/27/2009

My now boyfriend took me there on our second date, the restaurant is in little converted house. Very unusual and hard to find, middle of bunch of skyscraper in 14th st. business district (i would never find that place unless someone took me there). Pros: food and peeps more

Terrible service, sub par food, and clueless hostess 2/15/2009

I have friends that rave about this place. We went for V-day.. and there was a prixe fixe menu which they did not let you know about when making your reservations.. Fine, I can deal with that. The entree choices were VERY limited (a veal, a salmon, a chicken). After sitting down, it took over 15 minutes for our waiter to even come over, and his overly casual demeanor was not appreciated. The food was very bland, the tomato and mozzarella salad came out on a huge plate with two small slices of tomato and tiny bit of cheese, the salmon was under cooked, and the chocolate pie was still frozen. I know that Valentine's day is a much busier day than other days.. but you are only cooking 3 entrees the whole night!?! Don't waste your time.. there are plenty of other great restaurants to go to in Midtown. Pros: the water and parmesean cheese girls were on the ball! Cons: the service, the food, the hostess more

Friendly Staff, Creative Pasta 9/28/2008

I've been here about four times now. I really enjoy the food here and the staff is always attentive and friendly. Pros: Great food, great service, great location Cons: None! more

One of my favorite restaurants anywhere, and the best intimate Italian in Atlanta. 12/17/2007

My wife and I have been going to Pasta Pulcinella since it was a walk up on Peachtree St. next to the old Cotton Club (1994 I think is when it opened). I eat on the expense account in every major city in the US and many cities around the world, including Italy, and this place remains a true favorite. Their buckwheat tagliatelle with rapini is on my top list of dishes anywhere. more

Unique Hideaway Among Towering Buildings & Bustling City Traffic 8/12/2007

In a house original to the street, surrounded by wide leafy trees, this restaurant is an escape from the surrounding city sounds and all that goes with it. Service is genial. Offerings include unique, site-made pastas and sauces. Wines well complement. Perfect location to escape during lunch and romanticize in the evening. Quiet covered porch or indoor fireplace-enhanced tables available. more

One of Atl's best kept secrets 6/26/2007

I have been a loyal customer here for over two years now and can't believe how few people know about it. It has an intimate, romantic atmosphere, a unique menu, and friendly staff. I come in at least every other week and have yet to be disappointed. All of their dishes are wonderful, but I have literally woken up at four in the morning craving the Tortelle de Mele, which is a sausage/apple ravioli they serve. They even have a number of vegetarian dishes, which makes my girlfriend happy. I spent a summer in Italy during college and this is as close as it gets to the real thing. Pros: Unique menu. Cons: Parking. more

Worth a try 5/3/2007

Delicious bread and olive oil to start off with. Food was good but not awesome...nice portions and presentation, but the vegetables in mine were a little bitter. Very intimate environment, just like most restaurants in the area. Service was good. Pros: Good choice on menu, solid service Cons: A little hard to park more

Would be a nice place if it weren't for the food... 3/2/2007

I realy like this little building, it's cute, the staff is friendly, and it has a nice atmosphere... I would just hope they would make their food as good as it sounds... It is really done poorly . The gnocchi were mashed, the pesto tasted like grass... The salad had too much dressing and it was not Italian - a simple balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing that you can pour yourself would be so much better. The tagliatelle with rapini had too much garlic and were pretty oily. None of us finished their plate. It's overpriced for the quality they serve. The wines are nice and the bread is delicious, but that's just not enough for my taste. It's not an Italian restaurant, it's a wanna-be Italian restaurant. more

OK 11/10/2006

A whole lot better places to eat in midtown. Haven't been in a while. No need to go back. Lots more to try in midtown. more

My favorite Restaurant 7/11/2006

This is the best kept secret in Midtown. The atmosphere is wonderful in the quaint little bungalow but the best part is the amazing food. The Mele is phenominal but the raviolli with the walnut sauce has been my favorite for years. I discovered the restaurant when they were on Peachtree. The atmosphere improved with the transfer but so did the prices. A meal for three w/ salads and no alcoholic beverages will cost you about $100. I would eat here more often if I didn't break the bank everytime. You would think for the cost they would give you a little more food as well. Pros: Food Cons: Price more

Great Food - Horrible Service 10/12/2005

My girlfriend and I had dinner here last weekend. The food was really good and the wine was excellent. However, the service (if you call it service at all) sucked. We had reservations and we go seated right away, but then we waited about 10 - 15 minutes and nobody came to our table. We had to grab the hostess and she took our drink order. Then the waiter came over about 5 minutes after that and took our food order and told us the drinks were almost ready. The Caesar salad and both of our entrées were excellent. But then it came time for our check... We had to grab the hostess again for her assistance in tracking down the waiter, who we only saw about 3 times that night. Finally, after waiting about 10 more minutes, we received our check. Pros: Food, Wine Cons: Service, Service, Service more

""Near God"" Tortelli di Mele 8/4/2005

Pasta da Pulcinella is a perfect low-key Italian spot. Located on Peachtree Walk, it's a great find in a location that's slightly off the beaten path but still very much in Midtown. The menu is concise and offers a nice range of Italian dishes. However, there's one dish that stands out on the menu: in the words of my boyfriend, the Tortelli di Mele is a ""God-like"" experience. The ravioli coupled with apple, sausage, and brown butter is out of this world. This is the only spot in town that I've ever seen a table of 6-7 order the same entree. Don't miss this phenomenal dish! Pros: Tortelli di Mele, Great Atmosphere Cons: Small Menu, Pricey Wine List more

Great food 7/18/2005

This has been one of my favorite little spots in midtown. The food is really great, nice atmosphere, very romantic place. I love it. Pros: Food Cons: no parking more

cozy 2/9/2005

The food was great, and the cozy home-like dining room was relaxing. Pros: Good Pricepoint, Eclectic food flavors Cons: Parking more

Original Version Better 11/4/2004

Pasta Da Pulcinella has lost the charm and value of the original on Peachtree Street. I'm frankly surprised that it has survived in its current higher-end concept. more

Dont Bother 6/2/2003

This place has become a complete disappointment. The food is now bland and poorly presented, and the service is spotty. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Atlanta because you could always count on great food at a great value. Everything has gone downhill, except the prices. Pros: decor Cons: food, parking more

Best Caesar in town! 2/10/2003

I live in the midtown area, and it's nice to have a place you can walk to without dealing with all of the pretentiousness that midtown restaurants usually have- my 2 favorite things on the menu are the caesar (I would kill for the recipie) and the sausage stuffed ravioli with the apples, sage butter and caramel drizzle- please don't ever take it off the menu! Overall- a great place, although I wish the service was a little better (sometimes it's a little slow). Pros: great food, good value, intimate Cons: slow service more

Go for the food and the service! 8/24/2002

My girlfriend and I had no reservations on a Friday night and the hostess told us there was a 15-20 minute wait. We walked around the block for 7 minutes and when we came back the table was ready. The pulcinella salad was very good. The main course was very good as well (we ordered the gnocchi special and the pasta special with gulf shrimp). Service was excellent and the wines were good and reasonably priced. We'll go back! Atmosphere was noisy and crowded, but somehow romantic. Pros: Short wait, Excellent service, Good food Cons: Noisy, No good parking, Tables were cramped more
