Passage to India we experience is great! 1/13/2009

I was a little concerned reading the other reviews and that is why I'm writing my experience to add to the mix. My husband and I have enjoyed Passage to India restaurant for several years. My office has gone there with a large group on occasion and our family has gone often enough to appreciate it as well. What we have experienced is a quick seating, friendly waiters, and prompt refilling of items on the buffet as they get low. We aren't experts but our tastebuds enjoy what we eat. My husband thoroughly loves tandoori chicken and I like the chicken tekka masala, but I also enjoy their naan, and the veggie curries--potato, cauliflower, pea mix; the spinach and homemade cheese; the spicy potato mix, and their curry chicken. I do not eat the Chinese foods just because it isn't what I came for but walking around the tables and picking out a few plus the basmati rice and naan and my tastebuds are in heaven. I also like finishing up the meal with the mango sorbet. So I'm not sophisticated...it is always a good experience when we go. Pros: Variety, naan, spicy or mild Cons: On a cold night the wind coming in the doorway is brutal more

Avoid at all times 8/10/2008

Fast food stall for paav bhaji, dosa, chana-bhutara looked stale and for number of people eating there, it seemed as if restaurant was not keen on filing it and keeping it fresh. Pros: parking Cons: stale food, poor service, too much food color more

Nice Place for Indian - Desi Chinese Food 5/15/2006

Do you like South Indian Food? DO you Like North Indian Food? Do you Like Desi Chinese Food? Do you like Indian Baked Goods? Then you should check out Amber. They do get packed, but they try to accomidate. Also visit their bakery, truct me they have some of the greatest cakes I've had. Try their Choclate cake or Mango cake. They also have Eggless cakes also. Pros: Desi Chinese, Bakery, Nice Place Cons: Service Some times more

Worst Service 1/17/2006

Food is ok. But the customer service is worst. Everytime we have to wait a long time to get someone pay attention to you. And also the management is very arrogant, they behave like 'I dont care'. Even though the food and ambience are ok, we dont feel like going there any more because of the rude behaviour of the management. One of the worst Indian restaurants I have ever been to. Cons: dont care attitude Cons: Arrogant management, careless attitude, rude behaviour more

Best Indian buffet in this area 7/9/2005

I've been to so many Indian buffets around Mountain View and this is the best one so far. The lunch buffet selection is great, and the flavors are even better! Finally, an Indian buffet in Mountain View that doesn't have watered down curries! I have not had bad customer service as some of the other reviewers have had - but then again I've only visited this restaurant with a small group of people. Pros: Good lunch buffet, Flavorful, Parking more

""PTI"" is fine! 5/29/2005

I have frequented Passage To India for the past three years. Never had any major issues. 'Passage To India' has a great buffet for lunch weekdays, and during dinner hours on weekends. With an impressive all vegetarian buffet on Tuesday nights. The price averages $14 per person. At any noted Indian Restaurant, ordering items separately can get costly.. but their Buffet is definitely a great value. If you are not familiar with Indian Food- this choice is a good way to find out what you like and what you do not! They also make all their own desserts, cakes/pastries. Which are eggless to meet the vegan dietary needs am guessing. Wonderful light and fluffy! The Owners/staff are always cordial, attentive, friendly. Yes that place can get slamming busy at times with a line out the door. But even then.. we are taken care of! more

Worst customer service 11/10/2004

This place has the worst customer service and I cannot beleive people wait in line to eat here. The food is not great, the management is rude, but they dont care, they can be rude since they have people waiting outside to come in. One of the worst Indian restaurants I have ever been to. Cons: , dont care attitude more

Never again! 11/10/2004

Had a going away luncheon for boss and reserved for 20, 3 more joined the luncheon and the manager there was extremely rude, would not accomodate the 3 saying we only made a reservation for 20. The remaining 3 Including boss did not eat since they were so angry of the rude service and some of the people were also angry because this was a special event, all stopped eating and left. We told the manager we were upset with how we were being treated and would consider not returning-his response""Okay."" upon leaving there were a lot of people waiting to sit down, which gives Passage to India the excuse to not accomodate anyone since they have others waiting. When eating, people could not get water, naan bread, or their plates cleaned out since there is no service there. we will never go again. Pros: parking Cons: , Don't care, crowded more
