Another decent Vietnamese Sandwich 2/21/2010

Wanting to try out a different Banh Mih place, I walked into this Bakery and determined to see if Banh Mih Saigon is the best Banh Mih in the city. Got the Grilled Pork Sandwich, which costs $4. It is slightly more than Banh Mih Saigon but nonetheless still dirt cheap. Waited several minutes for their freshly made sandwiches and when I finally got it, I was a little disappointed at their size. The baguette is a lot smaller and they didn't give you a lot of meat either. However, after my first bite, I was surprised it is quite tasty and their bread is actually crispier and has a better texture. The meat is well marinated with a little spice kick to it. Hmm after consideration, Banh Mih Saigon still wins because it is bigger, juicier, and undoubtedly more bang for the buck! Pros: Good sandwiches, Green Tea Waffles & more Cons: Sandwich is small more

Went there last night 4/30/2009

loved the green tea waffles! With or with out peanut butter makes a nice snack on the go for $1! The sandwiches were tasty and the bread are fresh. you can see them baking them! Pros: fast food and service. Cons: didnt see a rest room to wash hands. more

Love. This. Place. 10/3/2008

The banh mi is perfect. Much like a classic panini, the balance of bread and ingredients in some ways depends on the sandwich not being overstuffed. Plus, the iced vietnamese coffee is always very good. The room has a nice city bustle to it and the people who work there (especially the women who make the sandwiches and the owners) are always friendly. Pros: Great banh mi in a fun, busy shop. more

Count Your Change 1/21/2008

Is it me, or am I the only one who has been shorted on the change by the wishy washy cashier? I gave her a $20 bill on an order that costs less than $7. It was the only 20 I had me, but I didn't get any money back. When I reminded her she owed me some money, she insisted she gave me back the correct total. If she did, why did I end up with no money in my pocket? \r \r Nevermind the surveillance camera looming above on the far right. Just rewind the tape & see that I didn't get any money back! Since I was deemed me a ""troublemaker"", a ""brother"" of the staff had to escort me out of the shop! \r \r Customers beware! Always have exact change if you do consider checking this place out. \r \r Adding insult to my taste buds after this ugly experience, the grilled pork baguette was greasy and had that recycled cooking oil flavor with hints of stinky armpit odor to it.\r \r If you want a good place for Banh Mi, check out the place across the street at 138 Mott. Unfortunately, they were closed for Martin Luther King day...so I made the mistake of going to Paris Sandwich. \r more

Superb Sandwiches! and delightful Green tea waffles! 12/22/2007

In the ""heart of buzzling mott street,"" this is where east meets west at its best! french bread baked daily with an ""unforgetable crunchy crust "" and pillowy center is available in various extraordinary flavors (the garlic bread is highly recommended as well). This is the best vietnamese sandwich in chinatown! its friendly staff and fast service makes your experience even more pleasurable. sandwiches are only $3.50, and the $1 Green Tea waffle is ""absolutely heavenly"" alongside a perfect cup of freshly brewed vietnamese coffee. The menu offers a large variety of vietnamese items including rice dishes, various types of rice paper rolls, bubble tea, and traditonal desserts. Perfect for quick take-out or sit down at one of their many tables for a ""mini getaway"" from the busy busy chinatown streets. A great alternative to the usual cheap chinese food! Pros: speedy service, delicious food, clean atmosphere Cons: cannot think of any more
