They need to take a deep breathe 1/18/2011

First, this place has been one of my favorites for years. Especially the citrus/jalapeno calamari. However, my last visit I was disappointed. They appear to have changed the recipe on the calamari and I'm not sure why. I was just whelmed. Overall they felt a bit tired. They were still good, just not great anymore. I have faith they can bring it back though more

Chic Atmosphere & Great Food Make for a Wonderful Experience 6/8/2010

Located close to the Franklin Street Medical District, Parallel Seventeen is a great place to have brunch, lunch, dinner and even late night fare. I love their Saturday & Sunday Brunch, the blueberry stuffed french toast is scrumptious, as are the kobe beef sliders + pommes frites. Did I mention they have BOTTOMLESS COCKTAILS as part of the brunch menu?! I love sitting on the quaint patio with a never-ending supply of guava mimosas, lychee bellinis and red & white sangria, savoring the food while watching the world go by! In addition to their amazing lunch and dinner menus (which also offer many gluten-free & vegetarian-friendly options) they have a NEW happy hour menu, featuring $3, $4, & $5 food + drink specials. Parallel Seventeen eases Mondays with their all-night happy hour. It's a steal for $3 tuna tacos, $4 veggie spring rolls & $5 wines, all house infusions & red + white sangrias--what more could a girl ask for?! Overall, dining at Parallel Seventeen is a very affordable indulgence! Their Duck Four Ways, Beef Short Ribs & Tuna Taro Tacos keep me coming back for more! I love the generous portions--I always have food leftover for lunch the next day! The bright atmosphere, knowledgable staff & expansive menus (both food & wine lists) always provide something new to enjoy. Highly recommended. Pros: Attentive, knowledgable staff; innovative Vietnamese fusion Cons: Smaller restaurant (more of a pro to me) more

Hidden Gem Thy Name is Parallel Seventeen 2/28/2010

Authentic Vietnamese with a contemporary twist. We went for Denver Restaurant Week and what a surprise! This place was fantastic! The crepes and spring rools are great with the lettuce wraps, veggies and fish sauce, the salad was refreshing and filling, the curry was perfectly balanced. The bacon was a unique and delicious dish. We will definitely go here again. Pros: Great service, unique and delicious food, great value Cons: Small dining room more

SO GOOD! 12/20/2009

I went to Parallel 17 earlier this month, seriously the short rib is one of the best meals ive ever eaten!\r \r My wife was so into this place i thought she was going to divorce me for it. \r I spend most of the spare change in my pocket going out to eat around Denver, this place is a definite gem. A must for anyone that likes to treat their wife, or friends, or even themselves to a nice meal. I will be back for sure! Pros: Everything consumable! Service, atmosphere Cons: I dont live closer! more

Great Pho! 12/15/2009

After reading an article about the Chef, I decided to go in and check out their happy hour. The place was busy so we ended up having to wait about 15 mintues. The bartender took good care of us though. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and steered us in the right direction. The food was fabulous. We had tempura fried green beans and the calamari. Couldn't get enough of it. We finished off the meal with the Pho. Have never had better Pho! Highly recommend! Pros: Pho and small plates Cons: restaurant small so have a reso! more

YUMMY~! 12/10/2009

I went to Parallel 17 for the first time with a few girlfriends and we ended up hitting the tail end of happy hour! We shared tons of great apps and some specials that the server told us about then tried some of the apps on the main menu! Their portions are huge!!! We had the best experience in this great relaxed, fun atmosphere!! I highly recommend this wonderful little find!!! Definitely try the Rabbit Wonton and the pork buns!!! Pros: Great Atmosphere - Great Service more

PHO SURE! 11/16/2009

my wife and I went to Parallel Seventeen this past thursday and will be back for more!\r \r We were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar where James was able to take care of us. James explained the menu and the focus. \r \r Parallel 17 is not looking to compete with ""Federal Pho"" as he put it but acknowledge the French influence that came from almost 150 years of occupation. He walked us through the menu and opened our eyes....from the pork spring rolls(which I've been eating wrong for most of my life...you make tasty little lettuce wraps!) to the Duck Three Ways and Pho(I had to have some!) James didn't steer us wrong. We will be back soon to check out what else Chef Mary Nguyen is serving. We can't wait! Pros: Happy Hour, Pho...too many things to mention Cons: parking more

Disappointing 5/29/2009

I've heard a lot of great things about this restaurant so I was anticipating great things. I ordered two tofu dishes and the tofu was fried beyond oblivion; I'm not sure it was tofu really, but more just fried batter in cube form. Both dishes were really salty. I think the concept of the menu is great, but the execution was lackluster. Pros: Decor Cons: Salty food, pricey more

Great food 5/2/2009

I cannot do justice to the food at P17. Its not cheap, but its incredible. The service has always been fantastic as well, BUT one time when we were in there we were helped by the owner. She should stay out of her own restraunt. I won't get into specifics, and it wasn't quite bad enough that I won't be back, but if I walked in and she was there I would turn around and walk right back out. Pros: Great food, great food, great food Cons: The owner is crazy and kinda rude more

Decent, but overpriced 12/18/2008

I really enjoyed this place when it first opened 3 years ago but I don't know...it seems to have lost its edge a bit. The drinks are REALLY good and the food is, too, but the portions are small and overpriced. I feel like they should offer more for my buck. Anyway, I agree it's a sophisticated, interesting environment with capable staff, but I haven't been back in about a year because there are other, more interesting places in Denver to try these days... Pros: Great drinks Cons: Overpriced, not that exciting more

Surly service 12/14/2008

Service not reliable - some days friendly - some days surly. Prices too high for being ignored.\r Food good. Sometimes feels like you are getting the ""cold shoulder"". Too many other places. <((>-- Pros: Nice location Cons: Never can tell what you'll get for your money - food or service more

Clean high quality 4 stars 11/30/2008

I'm guessing the peers below are incognito business competitors antagonizing P17\r this place is amazingly awesome. Wonderful service, delicious food, great prices, and cool atmosphere. Check it out... highly recommended especially is you want to take your friends from out of town out to eat. Pros: service food drinks Cons: small music too loud more

Congrats, you lost another customer! 10/25/2008

I've eaten at P17's since it first opened and I must say that my experience gets progressively worse with each visit. On the last occasion, we came in to find only two other tables being occupied (hardly what you would expect on a busy Friday night when places like D Bar across the street are at maximum capacity). Without going into details, I will say that our server was extremely rude! I can?t see myself going there ever again, there are simply far too many other places nearby with better prices, food, and service. Pros: Pretty Cons: Service, Prices more

Rudest service we have ever seen!!!! 8/17/2008

6 of us had a reservation. Showed up at the restaurant 10 minutes early. They had seating at the bar, but the bartender told us they were taken in a very rude, disrespectful way. What an as!!! 30 minutes later no table because they oversold their reservations (bunch of bs, just to sell more drinks at the bar probably) we left. Ended up next door at Limon, Peruvian restaurant. They were very very accommodating and treated us great. Thanks to them it saved our evening and the food and service was awesome. Needless to say, we will never go back to this restaurant. It's the service that really matters, and P17 has none!! Cons: Rudest service bar none!!! We will never be back!!! more

Terrible food, service!!! 8/12/2008

What happened to this restaurant? This is the first review for me but I felt compelled to write it. Over the last year we've gone here for good food, cool atmosphere. Last week, we tried their new menu. What a joke!!! Way over priced and terrible, terrible food. We sent back several items just to get something else that was practically inedible. Our waitress said they have a new chef, whatever that means. She didn't care at all and was very rude about it. Nothing was comped eventhough we had hardly touched our food. The drinks were crazy priced! $10 for a Margarita with some funky concoction and twist to it. Then the bartender just kept staring at us and we can see the staff just being very unproffesional. I have never seen such attitude. You would think that making a customer was the important part. Save your money. Way too many good restaurants up and down 17th ave. Pros: None, will never be back!!! Cons: Awful food and beyond terrible, rude service. more

Wow!!! 6/21/2008

Some friends and I stopped in here on a whim last night and I cannot say enough good things about this place. Being a food snob raised in San Francisco I have been generally unimpressed with the Denver food scene, but this place blew me away. Great atmosphere, great service and amazing food. The signature cocktails were so good and really complimented the food. I had a cucmber basil martini and it was refreshing with a great flavor combination. All the dishes we had were innovative, extremely fresh, full of complex complimentary flavors and absolutely mouth watering. When you're too stuffed to eat dessert you have the option of ordering a half a portion of anything on the dessert menu....fantastic idea!!! Everything was very reasonably priced and despite showing up in a tank top and baseball hat, we were treated with the same respect and level of service as one would expect if dressed to the nines. My only regret is that I didn't stop in sooner as I live just a couple of blocks away. We will be returning to eat here very soon! more

Avoid 6/2/2008

This place sux! You should do more review if you land on citysearch, go search at other review sites because i didn't do any search on this place until after that bad experience I got. Food is horrible and overpriced. It sure looks nice and all but food is totally bad. Its only a nice place to go chill at the bar and have a drink. Though I've never been back a second time. Pros: - Cons: worst food ever more

Love this place! 3/5/2008

I absolutely love this place! I have been several times and get more impressed with each time I eat here. The atmosphere is so quaint and charming. The servers know the food and I have never gone wrong with their recommendations. My favorites include the calamari, tempura fried green beans, the saigon crepe, and the coffee braished short rib (this is truly amazing and you must try!!). There are so many options and I love going and sharing the plates, so I can sample a lot of the plates. I can't wait for spring and summer when I can sit outside. My brother lives out of town and now insists on coming back to Parallel Seventeen everytime he visits, which is pretty often. He raves about the margaritas. You must try this restaurant!! Pros: Food is great and great ambiance Cons: some tables are a little close to each other more

Don't trust reservations here.... 3/2/2008

We love the food here, however after last night probably not going back. My father-in-law was in town and we made a reservation for 5 for 8:00. When we arrived, the two large tables had just been given away to parties of 3. The host said we would have a wait and blamed the wait on parties ""camping out"". When we complained that the two tables shouldn't have been given away to non-reserved parties, the host got very defensive and was quite rude. \r \r We love this place but don't plan on going back. There are so many other places in town that focus on good food AND customer service. Pros: Great Food Cons: Staff needs to focus on customer service. more

simply great 10/23/2007
