Love their Lettuce Wraps, snooty help 11/6/2008

Culari Provided by Partner
Love the decor, their Lettuce Wraps are great, I love soup so I enjoyed it as well, love their Vegetable Entrees. Their staff needs closer training, the manager hmm, the place could use a good cleaning. I overheard a customer complain to the manager, who acknowledged them to be regulars, but refused to adjust the bill based on the amount of the entree that WAS consumed, imagine that. Anyway, my advice, take an antacid after your meal. Take a nice walk, then go to Starbucks for a nice Americano and a dessert, you'll need it. Pros: Ambience Cons: Service more

Love PF Changs, Just Not This Location! 12/5/2007

I love PF Changs and usually have a great time but that ended at the Santa Monica location. Sometimes you have one bad experience...whatever..it happens but when its more than that....odds arent looking too good. At one occasion, I almost slipped and broke my neck while being brought to our table. Turns out that there was a plastic straw wrapper on their highly polished floor which caused me to slip. I brought it to the host's attention (he saw me slip) which he just IGNORED! Just left me embarrassed and the straw wrapper still on ground waiting for its next victim. Umm ok thanks a lot buddy! Then our waiter not only brought us some tea we NEVER ordered but supposedly didnt hear me order the drink I was waiting for...how's that? That's okay, it happens but we were charged for a kettle of tea we never ordered and just thought was complimentary...I dont even drink tea. Anyways, the meal was good and we left. The next time we went in we ordered the NY Strip Steak which was my second time ordering and is great! Well this time around it came to the table and I was crunched for time. The steak was how you say....overcooked and dry! We're talking about a piece of meat that is supposed to be cooked medium rare according to the menu..it was beyond medium...even the girl bagging our food commented on that and suggested we speak to the Mgr. Since we were crunched for time we had to high tail it out of there but I wanted to let the manager know I was unhappy. I was met with "Hmm you should have told me sooner we could have got another for you" Umm I was there at total of 15 min or less after getting my food..there is no "sooner". He didnt offer anything to make it right it was basically a too bad so sad attitude so basically I threw out over $20 on this steak alone...right into the trash. I was very disappointed in the staff i.e. manager and host...both uncaring and could give a care less about customer service. Stick to another location like the Torrance PF Changs! Pros: NY Strip Steak Rocks, Good Pricing, Walking distance to the beach and promenade Cons: Awful customer service, homeless sprawled all over including at the front door, Terrible parking more

Delicious and dependable Americanized Chinese food 2/27/2007

PF Chang's is not exactly the place to experience authentic Chinese fare, but the food they do have is tasty and consistently good. They have a large and varied menu of vegetable, seafood, and meat dishes, and it's always fun to try new things. The chicken lettuce wrap appetizers are to-die-for and actually healthy! The portions are managable and not too big - we never leave with any extras. It can get very crowded and at peak weekend times there is often a long wait, but the shops of 3rd street are within walking distance so it's easy to pass the time. The atmosphere of these chain restaurants leaves a little to be desired, but it's still a fun place to grab a somewhat upscale Chinese meal. Pros: food, selection Cons: ambience, crowded more

RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE 12/10/2006

I have been to Several P F Changs, Elsegundo, Palo Alto..to name a couple, and enjoyed the experiance, found the Food to be good, and staff to be friendly..but NOTthe case in Santa Monica. PF Changs is really American food, but they have an Asian twist and flavour to the menu in sort of a comfortable Steak house type atmosphere with Asian decore, and overall they do a nice job, My wife is Asian, and I have been to Asia several times, so I think I have some knowledge of this. I live 2 blocks from the P F Changs in Santa Monica, one night I called for reservations, but was told I didnt need one, the wait wasnt long, just walk over when I was ready and tey would seat us, so we finished a glass of wine at home and walked over, at which point we were given a pager and told it would be aprox 30 minutes..2.5 hours later we were still waiting and people were going in in front of us who had just arrived, I asked two "hostess's" at the counter who were more busy laughing and giggling to them selves than working and in a snotty attitude was we were told "Oh, They made a reservation"...when, I explaned what the situation was they had no response.. I asked for the manager, 15 minutes later she arrived, spoke to them for a few minutes first and then appeared to have an attitude before she even spoke to me, I started to explain and she said "Did you just call me here to complain?"..I said "WEll..yes, isnt that your job?"..she said well if thats all you want please leave leave the resturant, the hostess told you the rules"....I have never been asked to leave any resturant in my life..but promise you I will NEVER return to that one again...it was the rudest treatment I have ever received, in ANY buisness establishment. more

Terrible service and food 11/17/2006

It's hard to make Chinese food bland, but this place has mastered that art. And what's with the attitude from the service? It's almost like they were instructed to be rude and snide...maybe to distract us from the yucky food? I will say the interior is very pretty, especially the entrance. And we need more upscale Chinese joints. But I am not a fan of this place. more

Awful service and mediocre food. 8/25/2006

orionchef Provided by Partner
The waiter was cold and standoffish. After we ordered he didnt visit the table once and we had to call someone else to get our bill. The food was exactly what you would get at a Panda Express without a markup for a Santa Monica location. We decided to try some curries and signature dishes on the menu but they lacked flavor and the potions were tiny. If you are looking for authentic ethnic food or just a bit of flavor, this is not the place for you. Pros: Location Cons: Overrated food, Horrible service, Over priced more

I know food snobs hate this place, but I think it's delicious---one of my favorite places to eat. My favorites are the kung pao chicken and szechuan beef. I am very happy they take reservations now---don't go without reservations or you'll wait up to an hour! Pros: food quality, service Cons: crowds, no valet more

terrific americana-chinese 9/30/2002

I've read all these reviews about PF's not being authentic - but I hate authentic chinese food. After you've had Thai food you never go back to regular chinese (it's horribly bland). PF's is americana-chinese and I love it. Why is it so popular? Because people enjoy it. more

Weak Bartenders 9/19/2002

izelmorena Provided by Partner
Hmm, when a particular restaurant features their own special martini list, and the bartender is clueless as to how to make them, then I'd consider the place to be either unorganized or the bartender is weak. The same great food can be found here, just as delicious, and with third street promenade just outside the door. But when I tried to order two different martinis that I know are on their list, and the bartender doesn't know either of them, needless to say I was disappointed. I will say this however, the waitstaff tried their best to find the recipe for the martinis by calling a couple of their restaurants in different cities. Nice try, but the drink was still weak. Pros: Good Food, Great Service Cons: Poor Bartender more
