Yum to that! 3/27/2006

I'd been to a PF Changs resturant previously in San Diego. I thought it was the best Chinese food I had ever had. So I was doubly pleased when I heard one was opening up here in Boise. I think the excitement of the resturant has finally died down so the waits are minimal and the waitstaff is less harried. My original experience at the Boise location was unpleasant for that reason. I'd like to think they have improved in that area. I would recommend the specialty ribs they have available as an appetizer. The meat is so tender is practically melts and the sauce is a nice combination of sweet and spicy. This place will cost you a pretty penny but it's worth it to have non-greasy, flavorful Chinese fare. They also offer a full bar with all kinds of frou frou drinks. But a small pot of tea is inexpensive and just as well completes the experience. more

PF Changs 3/26/2006

PF Changs is a chain Chinese restaurant with prices that are comparable to The Olive Garden. The food is good, and my fried banana dessert was absolute heaven. I do have a problem with the place though and that was the first time we went the staff was anything but friendly. It was when it first opened and on a First Thursday night so it was very busy. My boyfriend and I went with another couple and the girl told us it would be about 35 minutes. We all got ready to sit down and wait when a man whispered in her ear and then she said how it would be more like an hour and could we just leave and come back then. We did leave, but we didn't go back. How dare they tell us to leave! They have seating for people to wait and it was far from being full. Maybe they didn’t like our appearance though we all were clean and not dressed horribly. And the worst part was, they didn’t take our name down. That's kind of a snooty attitude for a chain restaurant that like I said, is about as classy as The Olive Garden. Well after a month or 2 we decided to go back and try it and they were much more friendly and we had no problems being seated. I have no idea what their problem was the first night, but I am glad they were nice the 2nd time. I will go back to PF Changs but it’s definitely not one of my staples. more

After the long wait, Boise has finally received a Chinese Restaurant worth talking about and eating at. When you go you must try their lettuce wraps, they are phenomenal. I have not yet been disappointed in any dish that I have tried. If you love authentic Chinese in a fun atmosphere, PF Chang's is definitely for you. more
