Best

I am never disappointed in the food that I get here. The food is always fresh and delcious. (1) WONTON SOUP:..

Worst

Yes, the surroundings are pretty but the service can be pushy -- hurry up and order cuz we're busy. The food is often coated in sweet sauces, probably to hide the fact they use po...

Not so authentic..but pretty tasty 7/18/2005

My apologies go out to food snobs everywhere, but I really enjoyed my experience at PF Chang's. Yeah, it's a chain, maybe it's Americanized, but the food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun. In comparison with other Chinese food establishments in town it's a little pricey, but Chang's is pretty economical when considered alongside some of Austin's other ""upscale"" establishments. If you haven't been to PF Chang's, check them out...you'll like them, but I definitely recommend making a reservation! Pros: Atmosphere, Tasty Dishes, Price Cons: Parking, Waiting more

nothing to brag about 7/6/2005

i agree w/ some of the reviewers on here that pf chang is overrated. i wouldn't say they're food is gross but there's nothing superb about it. the only thing i had a problem was when i got my food it looked like it was sitting under a heat lamp for an hour oh and if your going to order the mango chicken i suggest not to. the chicken had no taste and they used canned mango and poured the syrup all over the chicken so all you tasted was the mango syrup...and that entree alone cost about 12 bucks...not worth it...but i did like their asparagus....and if your going to go there i suggest you order some veggies because the entrees doesn't really have any and if there's a long wait the best thing to do is leave because there's no point in waiting 2 hrs for mediocre food Pros: nice decor Cons: food not fresh, long wait, VERY expensive more

Worth it. 1/25/2004

I love P.F. Changs! Once I ate there, there was no turning back. In austin I used to eat at wanfu's but once I had the food at P.F Changs it doesn't compare . It is a little more pricy than other places but the few extra dollars are so worth it! You have to get the lettuce wraps (their specialty) and I love their shanghai street dumplings! It has nice mood lighting for a romantic dinner out - and every waiter I have had there has been great! Pros: great food, price, atmosphere Cons: parking more

OVERATED 12/16/2003

cROWDED, food was not that good. Definitely not the traditional cuisine however may suit a trendier palate. more

Why is this #1? 10/9/2003

All I'd like to say is that I'm never going back again. The place is way overpriced and the portions are tiny. As a chinese person I can honestly say that the food there is not really chinese food, and my 9 year old little brother can mix sauces better than that. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: price, food more

Overrated and Expensive 8/6/2003

PF Chang's is one of the most overrated restaurant chains in the country. Please, if you want westernized Chinese food, stop by the chinese restaurant tucked in whatever shopping plaza is nearest you rather than coming to this overpriced, loud, and very crowded travesty of a restaurant . The food will taste the same, if not better, and you will save so much money and time. Every weekend this place is crawling with people clamoring to get in to consume ""chinese"" food that is not only disappointing, but offensive to the moniker. For me, this place is infamous for its mediocrity. If you want to experience wonderful chinese food, go to Din Ho Barbecue. It will redefine what chinese food should taste like and the place is constantly brimming over with a predominantly Asian clientele that keeps coming back for chinese food as it was meant to taste, unbastardized. Pros: none, none, none Cons: Expensive, Crowded, Food is mediocre more

Great food, But Be Ready to Wait 5/14/2003

P.F. Chang's is a chain, but in spite of that, it's well worth a visit. The food is superb, and they have numerous outstanding dishes that you probably won't find at a standard Chinese restaurant. The waitstaff is helpful and knowledgeable- you'd do well to ask them for some recommendations that you might not normally try. The downsides? It's always crowded, and they don't take reservations, so you're liable to wait a long time for a table. It's also very noisy, not the kind of place to have a conversation or a romantic dinner. And, frankly, it's on the expensive side if you're dining with just 1 or 2 other people. On the other hand, if you eat with a large party, it works out quite economically. Pros: Excellent food, interestting variety, knowledgeable waitsta Cons: Noisy, Expensive more

Nice Place 5/9/2003

We went back to Chang's for the first time in quite a while, this time to the downtown location. Food was good, service was very helpfull, and halfway through the meal my wife said ""the prices are pretty good for this type of place"". That's all. Pros: hot and sour soup, nice, big booths, decent wine list Cons: noise level more

Not as authentic 4/16/2003

This place might be little overrated. Hot and Sour soup was too sour, Fish of the day was tasteless (though I should've known not to order steamed mahi-mahi). Shirmp dumpling was decent, but could do little more work on the skin. Kung-pao chicken were alright as well. Service was good, but I still think it was over priced. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Price more

WOW, what can I say 2/20/2003

AMAZINGLY tasteless. Even the flagrant Orientalism I could overlook if the food were somehow 'good'. They always come up and ask you, 'Have you been here before?' No, is there an initiation rite? 'How hot would you like your sauce?' What? For what? I haven't even ordered...Umm, hot, I guess. And they proceed ever so exactly and professionally to mix mustard with chili paste. Right in front of you. Like it's a show. And so it is. And those who are so inclined may pour their Idiot Sauce right over the endless buckets of rice they serve you. In other words, go to Tienhong or Dinho if you want 'more authentic' Chinese. Oh, and they mischarged us $40 something for a meal that was $20 something. more

Not Chinese 2/18/2003

This is NOT chinese food! I cannot believe that this has been voted the best chinese food in Austin! Not even close! This place is terrible and overpriced! I have eaten 2 times and have been dissappointed both times by both the food and the service. more

Excellent Service! 1/23/2003

I had a complaint once about this restaurant...so I wrote an email to their corporate email address. The CEO, area manager and general manager wrote me back and worked with me on my complaint. Everything worked out great. Quality Service Pros: Tasty food, Great Atmosphere, Great service Cons: portions could be, a bit larger more

Kung Pao Wow! 1/16/2003

Best, I've ever had. Never had a dud experience yet... more

not impressed 1/14/2003

I have been to P.F. Changs a couple of times and each time I was not impressed. There was very little food offered for the price you paid. You were paying for the atmosphere than the food. I wouldn't say it was the worst, but I have had much better! more

There's No PLace Like Home 1/4/2003

Asian food is my specialty. No, maybe Changs is not right on but the food is flawless. I have been many times to both Austin locations. When I have a new business collegue in town, that's where I take them because I can always depend on the quality of food & service and keep my management happy as far as my expense account goes. Its fun, friendly and I would encourage anyone who hasn't been to go. Pros: GREAT Food, Excellent wait staff, inexpensive Cons: Long wait time more

You Want Mushu - U Hungree? 11/24/2002

The best there is. Even if you don't like Asian food. Pros: Taste, Portions Cons: Price more

Overrated 11/17/2002

Too trendy, too expensive, and not that good. We have been there several times and find that the atmosphere is too upbeat and does not provide a feeling that you are in a Chinese resturant. more

Pretty outside but... 11/13/2002

Pretty good setting, business casual... The bistro attempted to look high class chinese but end up kind of fake. The food is good if you enjoy americanized chinese food. If you wish to enjoy authentic chinese food, I recommand DinhHo or Mandarin House. Be sure to dress accordingly or the wait-staffs might give you ""the look"". Pros: Good parking, good setting Cons: could be friendlier, kind of expensive more

Damn Good China 11/9/2002

P.F.Chang's is one of the best restaurants that offers both a great place for family dining and a delicious menu of original and authentic Chines food. This restaurant is located smack dab in the middle of beautiful downtown Austin. I go to P.F. Chang's at least 3 times a month. It has a beautiful setting and delicious food. Pros: ok parking more

white mans chines 11/9/2002

yes, it is good and consistant, but exciting or authentic.......NO Pros: consistant, affordable Cons: not exciting more
