I'm a recently widowed mother of 3, and I came to this lawyer to help me file for bankrupcy after the death of my loving husband and all the medical bills which followed. Also, he was the sole supporter of the family, and I was forced to go out into the workplace in this terrible ecomony and seek a job after 19 years as a homemaker. The bills simply overwhelmed myself and my family. $8 an hour doesnt go very far. Anyway, this dishonest lawyer talked me into going into a Chapter 13 bankrupcy. He frightened me into believing that I was going to loose my 2001 Toyota Corola if I filed for Chapter 7, which I later found out was a TOTAL LIE!! He deceived me into filing for Chapter 13 so he could make more than $3,000 on his attorney fee, where Chapter 7 would have cost me less than half! When I learned of what he did I went to a totally honest lawyer who changed my case to a Chatper 7, which I should have been told to do right from the beginning. I am preparing to file a Bar compliant against this lawyer right now. He is ABOLUTELY the most under-handed and distrustful lawyer that there could ever be!!! He relies on his good looks and trusting smile to RIP YOU OFF!!! I cannot believe that lawyers like this are being allowed to practice!! He knows what he is doing, and hopes you do not. I had already given him my deposit and he had me headed down the path of Chapter 13 bankruptcy. After the $1500 deposit and all of the payments I made, it would have cost me about $6000-$7000 over the 5 years of payments that he set up. After his deposit, he also gets a portion of your monthly payment until you are settled. The explanation his staff gave me on why I was doing a 13 was untrue. They told me the bills I had acquired happened too recently for me to qualify for a 7. After I researched both chapter 13 and 7 on my own, and contacted 2 other lawyers, I realized I made a very poor decision on hiring Drake. Watch out for this con-man of a lawyer. He's got his con down real good. First off, he's got his smiling mug plastered all over WPB... you've seen all the billboards and bus benchs. Anyway, his deal is this: once he's suckered you in for the free consultation, he has one of his trained henchmen sit you down and describe (or better yet, manipulate) your situation so they can essentially squeeze the most money out of the deal... and you. For example, and this happened to me, if you're struggling with your house payments, one of the trained puppets will tell you point blank to stop paying your mortgage payments. This way they can get the ""foreclosure defense"" part of the con game started. So then, after bilking you for however many thousands of dollars (in my case it wound up costing me over $6,000) at a rate of $300-500 per month, to keep your foreclosure going.... yep, that's right, the foreclosure against you that he started when one of his pitbulls advised you to stop paying your mortgage.... And now here comes the bankruptcy phase of the con. And this my friends is his real forte. He tells you that now that they have exhausted all the options in the foreclosure defense part of the game, now bankruptcy is the only way you can go. But not just any bankruptcy... Chapter 13 bankruptcy. That's the one where you spend the next five years of your life paying virtually all of your earnings to a court so that they can pay all of your creditors. This of course now includes your mortage company, but not just the regular payments, get this.... now you've got to start paying back all that money that you werent paying because Ozment's boys told you to stop paying it way back when so they could do their foreclsoure defense part of the scam.... and of course so you could afford to pay them!!! OMG!!! FYI, Ozment is presently under investigation for a multitude of severe and continued violations of countless ethical violations. Many of his present and former clients have come forth to describe the details of how they were scammed by this guy. So, needless to say, it would be in your best interests to avoid this lawyer and his office of con-men like the plague!!! I wish you all luck. more
