My consultation and subsequent pre-surgery appointment with Dr. Ousterhout was as fascinating as it was reassuring. I felt comfortable talking to him; he is honest, frank, and wise when it comes to his field of expertise. The latter observation may seem like a no-brainer to some but knowledge is not synonymous with wisdom. He also has a sense of humor and an easygoing nature - very positive attributes that only add to the experience. Dr. Ousterhout was the first person I remember seeing and conversing with (however briefly, for obvious reasons) after my surgery and again, his lovely bedside manner is something I will keep with me for a lifetime. more

Overall, the experience was something of an adventure for me. Like any call to adventure, I was quite nervous going in; there seemed to be so many uncertainties about it, but I pressed on none the less. All of my fears proved to be unfounded however. Dr. Ousterhout and friends gave me something more than just a pretty face (yes - he did an amazing job); they gave me the experience of a lifetime. more

This guy made me look worst after having surgery with him. I was considered to be good looking for a male to female, but after I had surgery with him I had areas that stuck out like he did not shave down or reshape my chin or jaw right. I had weird dents and bumps two weeks after surgery. I spoke with mira about it and she told me they would even out after three months. It has been seven months without the dents or bumps going away and I can feel where he did shave down the chin or jaw smooth. My jaw and chin feel like a bumpy road. I called and Mira at the office to ask to have it fixed with her getting very nasty with me yelling into the phone that he is the best in the world and good luck trying to find another doctor to take my case being a transsexual. I have cried about all this for months now. I am so lucky my parents helping me they have found another surgeon to fix my face and make me look normal again. From one transsexual to others please please I beg consider other surgeons for this surgery before him. He does not seem like he is all there. I was informed that he is 80 years old and that his insurance company is going to to drop him becuase of the problems he is causing. more

I assume that anyone contemplating this type of major surgery does a great deal of research when finding a surgeon. Each person, of course, has their own criteria in deciding with whom to work with. In my case, I had spent numerous hours on the internet, various blog sites, and talked to several people whom had gone through this proceedure. Additionally, I had one on one consults with a total of five US-based surgeons whom I evaluated prior to deciding on Dr. Ousterhout. Therefore I felt very comfortable that I had done the needed research and in my decision to work with Dr. O, I would be both happy and have the knowlegde that I did everything I could to make a reasonable and well-informed decision. more

I spent the price of a house in some states with Dr. Ousterhout. I found him lacking in skill or well being. I had the works with him and when I had uneven chin and dents from him cutting it out putting it back with plates and screws. I was advised by him and Mira to take a hike when I ask if they would fix the problems. Don't waste your money with this guy. Karen more

The before and after photos in this book are the most stunning I have ever seen. For many of the transsexual patients in this book Dr. Ousterhout's surgery transforms them from someone who would not pass as a woman to someone whom you would never know was not born a natal female. more

I had $46 K in surgery with Dr. Douglas Ousterhout to have gaps in my forehead, one eyebrow is lower then the other. One side of my chin is larger then the other side. When I went to the office for my first consult with him. Mira told me that Dr. O was retiring in 8 months in Jan. 2010 and I would have to put a deposit down to get a surgery date set before he retired. Three weeks later I had surgery with him with nothing but one problem after the other. Every time I asked to have something touched I was told it would get better after time. Nothing has gotten better and it has been a year now. DO NOT TRUST THE PEOPLE AT THIS DOCTORS OFFICE THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AFTER. THE DOCTOR WILL NOT FIX PROBLEMS FROM THE SURGERIES HE DOES. Look out for the con job that you have to book now before becuase he is retiring soon. It is a con to get you prat with your money faster without looking into the facts. Get on the web and look up Trinity Rose transsexual. Dr. O made a huge mess out of he face without fixing it either. Look up Anne Lawrence, she has a story about a transsexual that was burned on her face by Dr. O during surgery without fixing it either. more

I definitely and without hesitation recommend Dr. Ousterhout for anyone contemplating Facial Feminization Surgery. If your experience with him and Mira are only half what I experience, you will be fully satisfied. more

I had FFS with him and he left the front of my head uneven, he took out too much bone from left side of my jaw leaving it uneven to. Spoke with Mira about it and she was very rude to me. Asked to have the problems fixed they refused. Had to go to another dr to fix it for another $16K. A shane after spending $47K with Dr. Douglas Ousterhout. Look out they tell you what you want to hear and leave you in the cold. I fee stupid for trusting him and Mira. more

His results aren't the same as those other docs. They are better. more

This guy is like a used car sale man that will try to sell on results he can't deliver. I had my whole face done with him with nothing but problems that had to be corrected by other doctors. He made my chin bigger on one side than the other and my type 3 he did on my head turned out with dents in it and off center. Please be very careful when taken advice about this doctor online for the reason that office manager Mira posts good reviews about him all over the web and tries to remove the negative information. Many people have learned of this by her posts in surgery message groups. If you take a look at cityscape you will also see that alot of the reviews here are copy and pasted from there from this same doctor. What are the chances that everyone from here or cityscape would copy and paste the same storie reviews in these two spots and not be the same person. more

This doctor and Mirra back stabbers. I had problems with my browline and the bone in my head being off center after surgery. I waited six months for it go down like they said, but it did not. After six moths they told it was not their problem unless I would give them 18k more after already sending 40k with them. Run away from these people. more

Honestly, I could not possibly imagine a better experience with the Doctor, his staff, or the office. more

I had a total of 3 operations with Dr. Ousterhout: Type 3 forehead, rhinoplasty, and genioplasty (aesthetic chin surgery). I am very pleased with the forehead and chin surgery outcomes more

I think it will be a huge loss when he retires. It would be nice if he would train someone to take his place. His results aren't the same as those other docs. more

Dr.Ousterhout does amazing work. I wish he had an office in New York more
