Osteria 7/20/2008

A great restaurant! My nephew was hooked after our first time there. He couldn't stop talking about the veal piccata. The desserts are fabulous as well. Highly recommended. more

The Best. Period. 10/14/2006

I simply love this restaurant. The food is so fresh and wonderful and the staff are down to earth and friendly. I could go on and on, but it is best summed up by saying - I've never had better Italian food and I've been all over. I take all my friends and visitors here and they are now addicted, too. I almost don't want to write this so it doesn't get overcrowded or change! more

Excellent Choice 10/6/2006

Great restaurant, FANTASTIC service, great food! We ordered the special (noodles w/ sundried tomatoes and cream sauce) and tortellini stuffed with meat. Both were excellent! more

Amazing small local gem! 7/27/2006

I have been to Osteria many times, and have yet to be disappointed. Everything I have tasted has been absolutely phenominal, and the specials never cease to amaze! Also, the wine list is quite reasonable...I had a great wine one night, found it in the store the next day and it was marked up $2 from the in store price...Great Italian for reasonable prices, far removed from the overrated North Beach touristy fare. Pros: Intimate environment, wonderful food, perfect for getting to know someone! Cons: A bit quiet, so not a perfect first date setting, but definitely 2nd or 3rd.... more

A little known gem 4/14/2006

I've been here many times, in fact it's the only place I go for Italian food. Never disapointed, actually, I meet my girlfriend there. Great food, warm atmosphere, it must be love. . . of the food! Pros: Wine list, Friendly, Can get food to go Cons: Parking, Wish it were bigger more

Quality in all aspects 2/5/2006

Neighborhood Favorite 6/20/2005

Drawing a slightly conservative yet loyal evening dinner crowd, Osteria is a consistent successful neighborhood restaurant. Food is consistently good, the atmosphere is appropriate for an evening with friends or family, and overall you cannot loose. more

LOVE these guys! 4/10/2005

I don't normally write reviews but have to say that this is one of my SF faves. The owner is gracious and unassuming. The food is fantastic - always. I've never had better gnocchi and yet somehow you can always get a seat. All of this plus an elegant, white tablecloth, neighborhood appeal. You can't beat it! more

My favorite restaurant in San Francisco 4/3/2004

The Chef is amazing. The food is always fresh, carefully selected, and the flavors of each dish fuse perfectly. This has been my favorite restaurant for 6 years and once you try it, you'll be hooked too. Pros: Food, Service, White linens more

Best Gnocchi in the City 11/1/2003

Osteria is the perfect neighborhood restaurant. The staff warmly greets each guest who comes in the door - not necessarily the typical response in Pacific Heights. The food is consistently delicious - great for the prices. The gnocchi, however, is the best part - its PERFECT consistency makes you wonder why it's so hard to make! Try the spinach salad, too - crushed peanuts, yum! Pros: Good Value, Friendly Staff more

Go! You will have a nice time 4/21/2003

I live in the neighborhood and recently went here with a good friend who has an infant. The welcome and food were terrific. FRESH pasta, great salads-- and staff is lovely. They add to the experience. They had no problem with us bringing in a stroller. more

Best kept secret! 12/23/2002

This is some of the best Italian I have ever had! The pastas are wonderful and the ambiance is wonderful-a very cozy and warm restaurant. Service was wonderful, very prompt and helpful. Prices are very good! Great place for dinner-weekday or weekend! Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance Cons: Parking more
