Celebrate St. Patty's Day in North Beach 3/2/2010

It might be in a neighborhood known for Italian restaurants, but this is one Irish pub you won't want to miss on St. Patty's Day. Yes it will be crowded and crazy, but isn't that the reason we go out? The good news is that the crowd spills outside so you won't be stuck in a dark bar, and there are plenty of other options closeby if you want to do a pub crawl! Pros: 20 beers on tap Cons: Your beer might be green more

Very Irish 12/30/2008

In the heart of North Beach. Dark atmosphere, but good times. Nice place to meet people and have a nice\r cold beer. Watch out for the pirate in the corner. Pros: Location more

Unique Irish Pub - a must visit 7/7/2008

I worked there as a student over 10 years ago. Best Summer experience ever. Dying to visit the pub and city again. Myles O'Reilly is passionate about welcoming punters and making them feel comfortable. I hope the Fionn the dog is still around too. This is a true Irish pub, always made locals and people travelling through feel homely. They had great traditional Irish meals and a good range of beers and spirits, not to mention the vast amount of duke box tunes.\r \r I'll be back... Pros: Original, friendly, real. Cons: Closes about 2am!! more

Great Food vs. C..........s 1/2/2007

Good menu and good food, but.... \r \r But I haven't eaten there since we were sitting at the bar having a beer and saw 15-20 c...........s running all over the place. Would hate to see the what was behind the walls. more

Tried this place out at North beach, after walking a few miles in the city. Its really dark inside but cool. The bartender was a female who could not stop playing with her hair. It nearly drove me batty. The food sucks, avoid at all costs. They do pour a good beer, and the music is good. Ended up enjoying my stay due to the pictures on the wall and the sound system, but avoid the Oysters O'Reilly very skimpy. If you're after a beer try it out but not for dinner. more

Great Irish food 10/2/2005

The first time I saw the bar, it looked so depressing - just a couple of barflys drinking silently. But that was before dinner time. After then, it starts to liven up. The beer (Guinness of course) is very good, the Irish food is even better. The hearty, many-grain bread they served me with it was one of the best I've ever eaten. I wouldn't go if I was in a hurry, because the service can be kind of spotty, but if you have the time, make an evening of it! Pros: Irish food, Beer Cons: Inattentive service more

Cost-cutting in the kitchen 9/4/2005

We've eaten here loads of times over the years. Our food took 45 minutes to arrive as people who walked in after us finish their meals. Our teacups were empty the whole time and our server ignored us (the place was half full). Raspberry pancakes with strawberries were two pancakes with a squiggle of jam and a tiny halved strawberry. I had to go ask for butter and syrup. We ordered two more pots of tea but only hot water arrived--we were told (loudly and sternly) to reuse our old tea bags. Food was average, expensive, and the servers were inattentive and rude. We're not going back. Pros: location, beer selection Cons: rude, poor service, poor value, average food more

best irish bar 7/21/2005

I stumbled in here hungover as heck for breakfast and a little hair of the dog. Even the breakfast is good, I knew the beers and evening crowd was great... Pros: irish food, beers, bartenders Cons: parking more

My husband and I went to O'Reillys for after dinner drinks. We had a great time the bartender (Josh) was great. The atmosphere was good. Our overall idea was that this was a typical irish pub. We will definately stop in next time we are in town. more

WHAT A GREAT PUB!! 3/15/2003

I've visited nearly every, so called ""Irish Pub"" in San Francisco, but I feel, O' REILLY'S is the only TRUE IRISH PUB!! The ambiance was warm and traditional, and the wait staff were professional, and IRISH!! The GUINESS was COLD, & perfectly poured, and the variety of beers on tap, and various IRISH WHISKEYS, was overwhelming! The traditional IRISH BREAKFAST was very delicious, and reasonably priced. I was impressed by the owner (Myles O' Reilly) being on the premises, acting as the congenial host, and assuring that things ran smoothly. This is definately ""The Place"" for the True Irish Atmosphere, and it certainly must be the place to be for traditional St. Paddy's Day Festivities!! There's was even a ""huge"" Irish Wolfhound, mascot, ""patrolling"" the area! Happy Hour was just starting, but unfortunately we had to leave, and miss the ""fun times"" that we're sure followed!.......Cheers' Pros: "True" Irish Pub, Reasonably Priced, Convienent Location Cons: Very Crowded more

Another pint, mate! 1/23/2003

good beers 11/11/2002

o'reilly's staff are nice and friendly. good place to meet up with friends. pretty close to a real irish pub, except you can't smoke (wish you could to give it more of a true european feel). good beers on tap. the crowd can get a little frat boy sometimes, but a lot of the times, just great irish folk! Pros: staff, beer selection Cons: frat boy crowd, no smoking allowed more

nothing says holiday like irish coffee 10/29/2002

Stopped by here with a group of friends last holiday season -- really pleasant pubby atmosphere and the best Irish coffee i've ever had. the beautiful christmas tree and fireplace make it great place to stop with out of town guests. more

Help Needed Within... 9/13/2002

Horrible service. We went on a Monday night, and they were badly understaffed. 45 minutes passed from the time we asked for our check until it was paid, and only after I delivered the check to the waitress station. Owner was present that night too, but he was catering to a table of friends and cared nothing about the other patrons. Pros: Guinness Cons: Horrible Service, Bad Attitudes, Food was marginal more

Good Irish food? 8/21/2002

You bet. O'Reilly's is not only a first-rate pub, but it has an excellent kitchen. Along with traditional Irish dishes, the staff serves up some pretty good comfort grub, too. And you'll look a long time before you find a more pleasing dining room. Pros: Friendly, Atmospheric Cons: Loud bar more
