Real Russian and REALLY Great! 5/21/2012

AMAZING!!! I'd just read an article in The New Yorker about ""real"" Russian cuisine and the use of a brick oven (which these guys have). We asked our adorable (and truly Russian) server a lot of questions and took all of his suggestions. Everything was EXTRAORDINARY. Five stars because there isn't a single thing to criticize or change. Here's what we had (and LOVED): more

Great food and SO much fun 1/24/2012

Sorta difficult to describe Onegin in words...it's one of those places you definitely have to experience in order to ""get"". Nonetheless, the food is quite good. The service can be a bit slow at times, but you usually don't notice because so much else is going on ha. more

This isn't just a restaurant, it's an entire experience. From the extremely ornate decor to the music they play to the food they serve, everything about Onegin is unique. It's one of those places you go and almost forget you went there to eat in the first place...you just wanna party! more

So beautiful! 11/14/2011

What a beautiful restaurant! From the moment I stepped in I was blown away by how luxurious it all was. The photos do not do it justice. I also didn't realize they would feed you so much! Just a warning-prepare to a eat of rich and delicious food. Had I know, I probably would have skipped lunch. A fun place with awesome bartenders and good servers. more

great food, service & decor 11/7/2011

started off with the chopped farm salad--amazing, followed by the salmon with a side of whipped potatoes. both were perfect, and the potatoes were so light and fluffy. topped off the meal with the warm apple strudel. everything about this meal was great and the awesome service and ambience only made it that much better. more

Russian perfection! 11/2/2011

I've gotta give it to Onegin, they know how to make a guy feel like a king..or I guess I should say czar! The place is just pure class. The food is unique and delicious. The service, far better than most in NY. They're still prepping for their grand opening so it isn't too crowded when you go, but I know once theyre officially open it'll be packed. Get in now while you can. more

breaks the mold 10/27/2011

it's on limited menu right now but my friends and i had to give it a try before it becomes too crowded and hard to get a reservation. it is so elegant! i couldn't get over how awesome the decor was. really interesting food too, very different from anything else in manhattan. more

Unique and classy 10/24/2011

A very different approach to dining. Definitely a new pro to the NY night scene. I've been in NY for almost ten years and never have I ate at a place like Onegin. Love to see places trying new things and bringing something to the table. And yeah, if you're a fellow vodka lover this is definitely your place more

  • Onegin is where you'll go when your usual palace just isn't luxurious enough. You'll find smoked sturgeon paired with house-infused honey-pepper vodka, served from a bar made of 200-year-old Ukrainian birch. Our renowned borscht will be delivered to your throne by butler-jacket-wearing waiters. Whether you head left or right, all roads lead to vodka. Famous Russian vodka is available in a carafe, cocktail or spiked fisherman's soup (next-level comfort food).
The menu comes courtesy of the city's only operational Russian pechka, a wood-burning furnace replica that would have once been used to heat a czar's castle. While you wait between courses, you'll have the opportunity to read Pushkin. His sketches and passages from secret journals are etched around the restaurant in goose feather quill, the perfect marriage of Russian fusion cuisine and erudite pleasure.
