Best

I found clothing items to be in excellent condition and in a very orderly fashion. Prices are very reasonable. Pros: organized, inexpensive, good parking

Worst

For a consignment store, I have to say Once Upon A Child has some fairly hefty prices. A lot of their used items of clothing can be found new at places like Kohl's or Target on c...

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/3/2014

This review is for the Concord store. But I can't find it listed and I am LIVID at those people. So I will post it here, so hopefully someone will see it and will help them to decide to steer clear. Will NEVER step foot inside Once Upon a Child, in Concord, again. The people are only mildly friendly. And their shopping carts are very unstable. I thought that as soon as I got one. But as we were leaving, my almost 3 year old, daughter reached in to get her jacket, barely touching the cart. It topples over on her, full of stuff. She falls back and hits her head. This is in front of the register. Everyone (3 people, not waiting on other people) working there saw it. No one tried to help me get the stuff off her and no one even asked if she was ok. NO ONE ASKED IF SHE WAS OK. I am unbelievably upset and have no intention of going there again. I have emailed the corporate office, but I'm sure that will fall on deaf ears, as each store is individually owned and operated. So, I've decided to take to any type of social media I can. I've worked in retail, for many years in the past, and I know if someone got hurt we did all we could to help. That's just covering yourself and being a decent human being. Terrible terrible terrible place. . more

If you sell, don't expect much. 10/17/2011

what i love about this store is that they really really do have great clothing at a great price. what i do not like about this store is how little money they believe your used clothing and toys are worth. you'd be much better off just selling your clothes on Craigslist or in a yard sale and taking the cash to the store to buy new items. also look very carefully at the items you're buying to see if the original price tag is still on it. i bought a pair of jeans for $8.00 that still had a tag on them from Walmart that said $3.00. yeah, i was more than a little irritated by that one. but all in all, this is a really good place to get cute clothes, books, and other items at a pretty decent price. more

They cheated me-gave my stuff to another customer! 7/6/2011

I went in with stuff to sell-a rocawear jacket, thin black leather jacket, girls dress, 2 dolls in 2 ehite trash bags and a fisher price stroller...they gave my stuff to another customer whose stuff was in black bags and not going to do anything about it at 1st till I insisted...I got a whole $12!!! that is all I got for them giving my stuff away plus the stroller they had...and when I got home-I realized I forgot to mention the dress...they should accomadate me more-maybe they weren't going to buy-but the stuff was worth more to me!\r more

RUDE!!!!!!!!!!!! 8/13/2010

This place is rude, rude, rude! They do not hold up to any of their standards. I tried to sell 3 bags of nice, gently used newborn clothing to them. The girl told me it'd take about an hour to go through. That was ok because I was going o be driving to Union Co. for a job interview. I came back 2 hours later and they had still not gone through my things! The store was not busy when I was there to drop things off and they were not busy when I got back..\r \r The girl said my stuff was next, so I walked to the McDonalds across the parking lot. I took my time eating and came back...still not done. I walked around the store 3 times and they were finally done. This totaled 3 hours! Then, they only took a handful of my things and gave me $12! They claimed that some of my stuff was ""dirty"" and torn. NO-I had spent 90 minutes that morning buttoning and folding and sorting everything...no stains, thank you. The lady also told me in a matter of fact voice that they did not take Circo clothes from Target because they were too ""cheap."" Excuse me? I've seen some ratty things in there and you won't take things from a nice store like Target? Your toys also are dirty and have hairs stuck all over them. I would not buy these for my babies! And I would not call Target ""cheap"" by any means. I was SOOOO mad. I will NEVER EVER set foot in that store again! more

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE/MANAGER IS A DITZ!!! 7/3/2009

I received a call from Gina the manager after I had sent a resume in, for assistant manager. We determined a time-Fri.July 3, 2009 at 11:00 for an interview. I arrived at 10:55am after a hour long drive from Lancaster, SC.\r I went in and asked for Gina. She asked, ""Are you here for an interview""(DUH) and ""What is your name""(DUH). She said I will be right with you , so look around. \r 11:05, 11:10, 11:15, and still she is no where to be found. I looked around and found the larger size clothing 10 and up were in poor shape and needed to be disgarded and thrown in the garbage. It was hot, nasty, and unorganized. 11:20, 11:25. still waiting.........I left at 11:30. Gina still NO WHERE to be found. If she was that busy she could have come up to me at anytime and say, I'm sorry, I'm busy, It will be a few minutes longer, etc... But, she didn't. This is a manager?? Good customer service skills? I don't think so! By the looks and sound of the other girls, customer service wasn't their speciality either.\r I went home and called another store, because I wanted the owner to hear what I had gone through. I asked the woman who answered the phone how I could get in touch with the OWNER. She replied, ""I AM THE MANAGER"" ( I don't care). She finally gave me a number. I left a message. No return call, yet. I will keep trying, by letter, another phone call, or to David and Nancy Farmer. Pros: NOTHING!!!!!!! Cons: RUDE more

They don't know what they carry, inconsiderate workers, & they forget to give their offered discounts. 6/13/2007

I have shopped there a few times. A few weeks ago I asked a worker if they carried nursing/breastfeeding clothing and she said no, only maternity. The next time I was in I found out that they did in fact carry nursing clothing.\r \r Another time I shopped there I dropped my very nice and expensive water bottle and did not realize that I left it at the store until I arrived at home. I called the store and they said that they picked it up and would put it in the back until I came to get the bottle. I came 4 days later and they told me that they threw it away ""a long time ago."" When I told them that I was in only a few days before that, they just gave me a blank look. UGH!!!\r \r On one of my visits I picked out a very cute outfit for my little one from the 50% off rounder. The tag had one of their red or orange 50% discount stickers attached to the price tag of the item. Well, it was not until I got home that I realized that they did not take off the 50%. So, I had to drive back up there and get the transaction fixed. What an inconvenience!\r \r I will not be using their store for shopping any more. Pros: Parking & close to Chick Fil A Cons: Bad customer service, uninformed workers and rude employees more
