We got the chicken shawarma plate. The chicken was very dry to the point of almost inedible. They didn't even give us any tahini or tatziki sauce to balance out how dry the chicke...

Olive Mountain is Great 5/3/2006

I used to eat at this place all the time when I was in school. Evanston's Olive Mountain is a fantastic middle eastern restaurant. The food is terrific and the service is super friendly and attentive. Dining in is great but I also recommend giving them a try for take-out. more

Wonderful Middle Eastern Food 12/15/2005

The previous reviewer must have gotten this restaurant mixed up with another. Olive Mountain is NOT an Indian nor Nepalese restaurant. The service is good. We started going to Olive Mountain when it first opened at a different Evanston location a couple street over. The food (any of their kabobs is a good choice) is consistently good, fairly priced and very generous portion. more

good food 9/29/2005

Olive Mountain features both indian and nepalese food. My friend and I ordered one indian dish and one nepalese dish when we went there. I can't say that I would have known that the nepalese food wasn't indian food - the flavors were quite similar. Both dishes were really tasty. The service wasn't great though - they forgot to bring our appetizer. I guess it wouldn't have been bad if they had forgotten it since it was a lackluster veggie samosa. Overall, the food was good. I thought it was a little on the pricy side for indian food, but for downtown Evanston, the price wasn't bad. more

Superb Middle Eastern food in elegant atmosphere 8/6/2005

Olive Mountain is a lovely place to take someone who has never had Middle Eastern food and is a bit leary. The dining room is elegant yet casual and the waitstaff is very cordial. The menu is extremely varied and easy for the not so adventurous, but the traditional fare is superb. This is the kind of restaurant you can go to to celebrate a special occasion, or just run in for a quick lunch. The prices are good and the portions are nice. more
