Staff is fantastic 8/9/2011

I have used Dr. Hicks at Old Town Animal Hospital as my vet for several years. The staff is fantastic and Dr. Hicks has always taken time to answer all my questions. My dogs just love going to the vet now! more

Big thank you 8/5/2011

Would highly recommend him 8/3/2011

Dr. Hicks and his staff are wonderful. It is like an old time vet's office. Nothing fancy, just caring for the animals. I have called him on weekends and holidays and he always calls me back. I would highly recommend him! more

Dr Hicks has been my vet since 1985 7/28/2011

Dr Hicks has been my vet since 1985. He is the most knowledgeable, caring and compassionate vet I have ever known. I have more than 15 horses he cares for, dogs and cats. I had a dog that was allergic to everything on the planet just about and took medication his whole life (he lived to be 13) and he was a 90 lb mutt. Dr Hicks worked with us to always keep him healthy and whenever I had to leave town he stayed at the clinic and was treated like a King! He could not have been in better hands. When his time came, he was so supportive, it made it a little easier. I have had him at my place at ALL hours of the night. He has stayed with my animals all night at times. Whenever I need him, he is there. Except for my first dog, all of my animals have been rescues. I live 45 minutes from Katy and I would never consider taking them to anyone else. I live in the middle of nowhere, on a dead end (literally) and have many dumped and abused animals. One of my dogs had been so abused it took us 3 full months to touch him. When I finally did, I grabbed him and got him to Dr Hicks. He was a long haired dog and he was extremely matted. Michelle Hicks spent hours shaving him to relieve his pain and he had heart worms, no teeth and was petrified, but with the loving care he received from Dr Hicks, he lived with me for 10 years until recently developing cancer. Making the decision to end his suffering was hard, but again, he made it easier. I was able to bring my other dogs to the clinic to be with him in the end. My newest dog, Domino was found in Fulshear covered in mange, with about 60 shot pellets spread over his entire body and a 9 mm bullet in his leg. He spent approximately 2 months at the clinic and is now the picture of health and a great dog. more

Will always take my animals to Dr. Hicks 7/27/2011

When I moved from Katy to the country several years ago, I was unable to take my 10-year-old toy poodle, Pepe, with me. I had no place to keep him at the new place because of a conflict with another dog and I was really afraid he would get hurt. Dr. Hicks had been Pepe's veterinarian for many years. He saw me agonizing over what to do with Pepe. Dr. Hicks and his wife graciously took in my dog as one of their own. They kept him at the clinic during the day and took him home with them at night and on weekends. Pepe became the clinic mascot. I could tell that the staff at Old Town Animal Hospital really loved him by the way they played with him. He got lots of love and attention from the staff and customers. Staff members even took turns on weekends taking him home with them. I couldn't have asked for better treatment of my dog. About two years later, Dr. Hicks called and told me that Pepe had developed a cancerous rectal tumor. Dr. Hicks said that he did not know how long Pepe had to live. I went to Katy as often as I could to see Pepe. I was heartbroken that he was so sick. A few months later, Dr. Hicks called to say that Pepe was in a lot of pain and needed to be put to sleep. But he said he wanted me to come see him one last time. I went. I will always treasure the time I spent with Pepe that day. I will remember the way he smiled at me that day forever. That is definitely the way I want to remember him. He had been my dog ever since I was a little boy. It is terrible to lose a beloved pet, but Dr. Hicks and his staff are the most compassionate people I have ever met. God bless you Dr. Hicks, Mrs. Hicks, and the entire staff at Old Town Animal Hospital for what you did for Pepe and for me. I really mean this from the bottom of my heart. I will always take my animals to Dr. Hicks and the people at Old Town Animal Hospital. This is true even though I have to drive over 50 miles one way just to get there. There is no doubt in my mind that they really care about both the pets and the pet owners. more

Thank you all for your generous care of my baby girl, Bo Peep. more

If not the best, dunno who is 7/19/2011

Dr. Hicks is the best vet I have ever known. We had to put our dog down a couple of years ago, our dog had a stroke. So we loaded him into the back of the truck and hauled him over to O.T.A.H. Within seconds Dr. Hicks came outside and examined our dog. He said " I'm not going to move him, he's already in enough pain. I'm just going to uthinize him right here." Within days of our dogs death, Dr. Hicks staff sent us a postcard saying how sorry they were for our loss. If that's not the best vet I don't know who is. more

one of the most knowledgeable, experienced, skilled and compassionate vets ever 7/5/2011

Really!!! We've been taking four dogs to Dr. Hicks for more than five years and he is EASILY one of the most knowledgeable, experienced, skilled and compassionate vets I've encountered anywhere - and we've lived in North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania as well as Texas. In fact, we ran into a very questionable, opportunist vet in Katy some years ago - that gave us an "emergency" call when we were in vacation in Las Vegas, trying to sell us some expensive - and completely unnecessary - dental work on a 12-year-old dog. Dr. Hicks, by contrast, is highly principled and caring, and has been known to make "house calls" at night to ranches to attend to sick horses. THAT'S how caring and expert Dr. Hicks is! more

This dr loves my dogs the way I do 7/1/2011

I got both my dogs fixed at this clinic and they turned out fine. The dr gave me all the instructions I needed in order to make my babies comfortable. Dr LOVES my dogs and makes sure I am able to make the besst choice as far as certain treatments etc go. Try this office its well worth it. more

I recommend them 6/22/2011

Place was new, clean and my dog was well taken care of for the 8 days she stayed. Best of all, the price included a bath before she came home. This kennel was also the most reasonable (cost) in Katy. I recommend them. more

The best 6/17/2011

It was a sad day to have to put your dog down but the doctor and staff were the best and most caring group I have ever experienced. That is from me and my children. They love getting treats for them when they take the dog to the vet. more

Took the time 6/10/2011

I moved to Katy a few years ago and started using Old Town Animal Hospital for my 2 dogs and have been a loyal customer ever since. My first visit was on a Wednesday, when they offer 25% off vaccines. The office was very busy and there was a bit of a wait, but Dr. Hicks still took the time to treat me and my pets with care and respect. Since then, I try and schedule my appointments on days other than Wednesday because I don't mind paying a little more to not have to wait, especially since Old Town Animal Hospital has the lowest prices I have found. I am very happy with the service and care I have received over the years. more

Comforting and supportive 6/8/2011

We had to euthanize Sheba (our family dog) last Friday and I knew it was going to be a trying time for our family especially my wife, Kathy. Sheba was very special to us and I wanted you to know that your staff could not have been better to us and Sheba! They were very comforting and supportive and helped us make a very difficult decision that had to be made. Sheba lived a very long 16 years and I feel that we stretched the last 5 years out of her with your help! My two kids were very young when we got Sheba as a puppy and they grew up with her being their buddy and companion! Everyone, that ever met Sheba made a comment about what a good dog she was. I am pointing out how much we loved and cared for Sheba because with your staff being so professional, caring and loving we were able to give Sheba the dignity and comfort at the end of her life that she greatly deserved! Dr. Hicks, on behalf of our family and Sheba, please accept our sincere thanks for taking such excellent care of Sheba and please pass onto your staff our gratitude for being there last Friday and many times before. Your caring will always be remembered! more

Truly miracle workers 6/6/2011

Words can't express how thankful I am for your uncompromising efforts to save my "Baby." Without your hard work and dedication I would have lost not just my pet, but a member of my family! You are all truly miracle workers and I can't thank you enough! "Baby" is doing wonderful at home, and he has an obvious new lease on life! From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!!! more
