Obivia Bar & Lounge

I had an event on Thursday on July 3rd promoting my wedding planning business. I had approximately 20 guests. The staff at Obivia was so attentive, passing out hors d'oeuvres, asking everyone what they wanted to drink and making sure my guests were taken care of. When I walked in, they had, already prepared champagne glasses and the champagne was chilling. That was impressive. The ambiance, the look of Obivia was chic, classic and a little bit of the old world wrapped in one. This staff was very professional, cordial and courteous. My very good friend referred this place to me for my event. She was right about EVERYTHING! I absolutely love it and highly recommend it to everybody. I would like to once again Thank Claire who was the person in charge/manager of Obivia. She is a sweet heart and made us feel right at home. My guests were so happy and totally enjoyed themselves. The food was exquisite. The DJ was on point, nothing short of great. He played everything. We were grooving, dancing, jamming and singing along with the tunes. I celebrated my 31st birthday here on Saturday and I am so very happy that I did. Upon entering Obivia you are greeted by the nicest and most pleasant hostesses. I had a table with a champagne bottle waiting for me. The waitress was very nice and so patient with everyone. She really made it a pleasure to be there. I was also greeted by Clare who helped me book a table for the party. Not only was she the nicest person on the phone, but she was just as nice in person too. All in all I have to say that the staff at Obivia is great and the drinks were good too. My party and I had a wonderful time and will most definitely do it again!! I happened upon Obivia last night and was completely blown away! It was a beautiful space, a beautiful place, and the drinks were amazing! It was a high class and swanky bar, and my experience echoed that. The people where so nice and kind and I will definitely be going back and hitting Obivia up again. It was way to much fun not too. So my friends & I went to a Obivia over the weekend and I had such a blast! I go to a lot of trendy clubs & bars and I'm pretty picky but I must say, this place met every need! I love the variety of drinks and appetizers. The mood and setting was just sultry & hot, yet it was also sophisticated. The music was great and it was socially diverse which gives you a lot of choices ladies ;)! Don't worry.. pretty hot women too boys, hell I was there! meow! The staff and managers were amazing, polite, and attentive. They have great events (as I learned) and I look forward to going out there more! Think I'll make to my regular spot! See you there! Great atmosphere and great drinks. I went there last night, and I may have stumbled upon some sort of convention, but I have never seen so many good looking people. It was like they were serving good looking potion and everyone was drinking it. So, I joined in and had a great night. Highly recommended! My friends and I wanted to find some place new, and happened to stumble across Obivia. We're glad that we found this place! Excellent specials with very friendly and entertaining employees that helped the drinks keep flowing. A fabulous atmosphere made it exciting to show off our ridiculous dance moves. After stumbling out of the place feeling amazing, we knew we had found a place to come back to often! more

What I really like about this place is that they have a great liquor list and some very creative drinks. The food is good and the atmosphere is great. There was a DJ who kept things moving. But what I really liked were all the different types of drinks available. I don't like wine or beer, I like something that doesn't taste like alcohol--but not really sweet. The bartender was able to find me several different drinks that I really enjoyed. Good Job! Great Drinks! Nice atmosphere! I was in NYC for a week on business and found this to be a great place. Staff was great here. I didn't have to wait long to get a drink, even though the place was packed. Was in NYC for the weekend at the beginning of March and went to this place on a recommendation from a friend. We really had fun! The atmosphere was very conducive to hanging out - warm lighting, good music loud enough get you moving but not too loud to talk, great drinks (loved the spicy Bloody Mary and the drink in the pink cup that glows!!!) Tried some of the tapas - the date-bacon appetizers melted in our mouths, and the guacamole was excellent! But definitely try the chocolate fondue - it comes with fruit, brownies, graham crackers and tiny marshmallows...yum! The staff was attentive and friendly. The manager was very welcoming and we had a great conversation when he discovered we were from out of town. And the movies showing on various screens were visually entertaining - period pieces from the 70's and earlier. Make sure to use the washroom downstairs - it's worth the trip through the crowd to see the giant Buddha head and sense an undercurrent of atmosphere beyond the bar scene...I'm looking forward to meeting friends there next summer when I'm back in NYC. after two martinis i thought i was brad pitt, it usually takes me at least 5 to feel like that atother places. Go there, order martinis, follow it up with a "X-rated mojito", feel phenomenal. thank me later. Pros: tremendous drinks Cons: drinks cost a little more than tallboy Bud Diesels more

I never write reviews on here, but I really have to this time. I threw my boyfriend a birthday party on Saturday night and it was fantastic. Obivia has the nicest, most accomodating staff. The place has a cool look, didn't get super crowded, played good music (and not so loud that you can't talk to ppl) and drink prices were reasonable. Everyone had a great time. We went here on a Thursday night, (also happened to be Valentine's day, not sure if this contributed to the bar being pretty empty) and the atmosphere was really cool - great decor, a little dark, the 70's softcore on tv was pretty amusing. The drinks were a definite highlight - a tiny bit pricey ($13-$16 or so, but hey this is NYC!), but worth every penny! Delicious! The pizza of the day was excellent, the chicken wings were just okay, and the tiny burgers seemed a little overdone. But man oh man were those cocktails good! Also, our waitress was EXTREMELY friendly and nice, which in my opinion is pretty rare these days. more

I'm meet a friend at this bar that looked nice when I passed by it one day and when I walk in, the decor is nice and there is a great ambiance and crowd. We get drinks at the bar and then sit at one of the couch/tables. A waitress comes by and mentions the tables are for waitress service only, but since so many tables were empty, she said we could sit and we would order the next round from her. We order another round and the waitress never brings the drinks. An hour later one of the waitresses asks if we need a round and we say it would have been nice if the drinks we ordered an hour ago ever showed up... their loss since they work for tips. We didn't order any more drinks. The main reason, however, that I would never go back to this bar was the raunchy shows displayed on the televisions. This place claims to be romantic?? I don't think so... I don't need to be in a bar surrounded by men staring at the screens w/ undressed women, women touching themselves and displaying very unclassy scenes with men and women on the screen. Let people watch this stuff at home. I was so completely turned off by the programs that were displayed on the televisions, I could not wait to get out of there. Some people might want to see this stuff displayed on tv's in a bar, but certainly not me... I thought it was disgusting. I recently held my birthday there. Michael, the manager, was fantastic. He made sure all my guests were taken care of and nobody got hassled at the door. The drinks were great--I especially loved the chocolate flavored cocktail. The food was delicious. Great chill ambiance. The only negative comment was that I wasn't too impressed with the music selection--I love dancing so this would not be my first choice for a night out of dancing. My group of ten and I got there soon after happy hour and the place had plenty of room in the front section with couches and footstools available that were nice and plushy. Our waitress was on top of her game and even gave us a happy hour priced drink a few minutes after it ended. The decor reminds me of parts of Asia specifically India. The food is okay and the portions are pretty small for the price, would suggest mainly going her for parties or drinks unless you want to shell out for a bite. Otherwise, great bar. this is a great lounge with a great vibe. the happy hour drinks and snacks were tasty. i was regretting ordering a cosmopolitan what with the drink specials, when it turned out to be one of the best i've had. the music selection was groovy and still allowed us to chat without shouting. service was so so, but i chalked that up to happy hour. more
