A Portland Favorite 10/8/2005

Oba serves delicious (and creative) food, a vast array of drinks in their stylish bar, and can accomodate you for a small dinner with friends or for a larger group function or celebration. I have been to the restaurant a number of times, and I have always been impressed with the food. Their menu is packed with delicious items, and there seems to be something for everyone's taste buds. If you don't feel like a ful meal, but instead want to grab a drink, Oba's bar (which is split off from the restaurant section) is well-stocked and sophisticated. more

Great happy hour 9/8/2005

Their $3 margaritas at happy hour not only taste great but it's also a great deal. I usually sit out on the sidewalk and have their marionberry margaritas but the other ones (prickly pear, mango, guava, for example) are also yummy. The food is creative and they also have a 'tapas' portion so you can order and share with friends. The entrees are a bit expensive but the portions are also huge. The happy hour food is very delicious too but I think most of the stuff is fried (deep too, I think). I think the only other options are salad and tacos (both good). Service is pretty good but can be slow. Overall, I like to go their mostly tjust for drinks and then get dinner elsewhere. more

Great Bar! 8/30/2005

This is a great afterwork or weekend bar! The also have some sidewalk seating during the summer. Get a margarita, they are the best. I hear that they have a bartender that specializes in them and makes them from scratch...no mix! I will say, some waitresses in the bar have attitude so don't be afraid to tip low! The restaurant is good, but I've only been there once so I'm not too qualified to go into detail. Great menu, interesting food. more

Best margaritas in town! 8/11/2005

If you are visiting the Portland area, or you happen to live here, then you owe it to yourself to check out Oba Restaraunt! Happy hour in the evenings and all day Sundays. $3 will get you one of the best Margaritas in town. They have cool brass covered tables that are marked with all the water stains from cups that have been put there. They really have a great atmosphere and friendly faces. Check it out! more

Creative, flavorful tapas served with style 6/29/2005

Oba serves good food in a stylish, beautiful atmosphere in Portland's Pearl District. This is a great place to go with friends for a drink and fun dinner before hitting the clubs. The bar serves tapas, which is my favorite, and the regular restaurant has regular latin-inspired entrees. The wait staff is friendly and well-trained on the restaurant side, but rather harried on the bar side. Go during happy hour for great bargains and a good crowd (bar only). Oba has true vegetarian options (not just, "order the salad") and even wheat-free and dairy-free selections. more

O- OBA! 6/23/2005

I cannot stress enough how absolutely glorious happy hour is. I am glad the folks at trendy OBA know how to keep a good thing going. The atmosphere is clean, chic, and sophisticated. The drinks run at about 3 dollars and are unforgivably adorable. I had a blood orange Magherita and a dazzling cosmopolitan- both served by a waitress that was more blur than human being. The place was brimming with only one cocktail waitress to satisfy the quiet crowd – yet my table was able to place two drink orders in the last half hour of happy hour. This woman certainly knew the way to our hearts. more
