Oak Grove Motel

I was planning a vac. with my new g/f, and prepaid in full for 4 nights... Manager/owner (Stanley Smith) promised a room with a single bed. When we came around 7 pm, he gave us different room with 2 beds. Room smelled like cheap air-freshener mixed with food left overs. Moved to Sheraton next door. So, Oak Grove Motel is my Worth experience ever!!! Pros: Was cheaper than Sheraton Cons: Smells bad. Spiders and flies more

This is one of the best motels I have ever stayed at. I travel a lot; anywhere from NJ to TN to FL. I use to live in NJ but currently live in NC. I am 3 hours from the beach so I need a place to stay when we go. On April 5th 2008, I went to emerald isle looking for a place to stay for my wedding. The original place I went was under construction so my mom and me decided to put it in the Lords hands and drive to find a place. We stopped at a few places and seen some of the rooms, but was not too impressed with location or rooms. We were hungry so we stopped at a place to eat. We asked our waitress about the motel across the street and she said it was nice but never stayed there. After eating, we went over there to Oak Grove Motel and meet Stanley for the first time. He was very nice and the rooms were awesome. The kitchenette has a full fridge and stove, which saves a lot of money when you have a party of 13 staying for a wedding. more

I just want to say, if you are looking for a nice clean motel that feels like home, this is where you should go! I was impressed on how nice and beautiful the rooms looked! If you like nice cold air conditioning on hot sweltering summer days then I highly recommend this place! You just can't beat it for the price too! Pros: Cleanliness, air conditioning more

This motel is great. It may not be fancy, but hey, this is the beach. The owners treat you like family and most times you will see someone you know from a previous visit. It's clean, within walking distance to good restaurants, and a private boardwalk to the beach. I guess the reason why I really enjoy the Oak Grove is because it reminds me of the days I spent at our family's old place at the beach, which was in Salter Path. Salter Path is a great place with great people. Like I said, the owners are great friends, and they really make you feel at home. The rocking chairs in front of the rooms add to the charm as well as the nightly gatherings on Stanley's porch where stories are swapped and all the world's problems are solved for the moment. I recommend it highly. more
