Best

I went here for dinner with my friend and it was a great experience. Our waitress was friendly and gave us...

Worst

came for sunday brunch and left hugely disappointed. i've been here a few times for drinks, but thought i would give brunch a try. what a huge mistake! the water glasses and car...

i'm never going back 7/16/2004

All my husband and I wanted to do was go to the bar and order drinks but the girl in front is so snooty and she said there's no room inside for us to even STAND by the bar. Finally after waiting ouside in the cold or 20 minutes, the very kind bouncer told us she shouldn't make us wait this long, so he let us in. She was full of crap saying there was no room. In any case, our 4 friends were meeting up with us and when they arrived, she wouldn't let them in either. So I came outside and told her they were with us and she was just so rude and I hate her. This girl thinks she's better than everybody else and that's a joke cuz why would anybody think that way working as a doorperson at a restaurant/lounge. I'm never going back. Pros: ambience Cons: , service, service!!!! more

Subtlety goes a long way.. 7/15/2004

.. Just be subtle when you gaze at all the beautiful people here! The place is crawling with them. The food was excellent & I'd highly reccommend it. Just make sure you get a few dishes and share (as well as make a reservation to secure a table). One dish will not be enough.. unless you're one of the many uber-thin models who frequent One. Great atmosphere in a chic neighborhood. After dinner, stay for drinks or head over to nearby places like PM or Lotus. Pros: great food, beautiful people, great neighborhood Cons: , crowded tables more

Fabulous Place 7/15/2004

What a great place this is. I loved how the food was served. The portions may be small... but theyre full of flavor. The service was excellent. My overall experience at ONE was incredible. Not many restaurant/lounge have made me feel so welcomed. I recommend making a reservation 2-3 weeks in advance. If youre a large party, you should definitely preselect your food. That way, you dont have to worry about it once youre seated. You can then enjoy the ambience and your company. more

ONE more thing.. 7/13/2004

All my friends have been asking me to have my birthday party at ONE... and although I prefer the quiet intimate house party, i did have it at one and it was the perfect evening. My girlfriend and I, with 4 other couples, had dinner which was exceptional, and very affordable too... and we stayed all night thru, as the night got louder and later we enjoyed the cocktails and music and the loungy scene. more

Horrible Service 6/1/2004

I decided to throw a party for my boyfriend and made reservations for 20 on Memorial Weekend Sunday. We arrived at 9 and ordered up enough food and drinks to make them very happy. Unfortunately for them, we would have ordered twice as many drinks if we didn't have to wait half an hour for the waitress between every drink. She probably felt she didn't have to work for a tip, since there's a 20% gratuity that is forced upon groups. To make matters worse, they decided to close at midnight. On a holiday weekend!! Mind you that this website says that they're open until 4am on Sundays!! Wouldn't it have been decent to warn someone throwing a party that they would close at 12? This place obviously isn't concerned with making money or making a good impression. Pros: Good food Cons: , Bad Service, Closes early more

Recommended 5/31/2004

One little 12th is a great place to meet after work, smart suits fill the place. The ambiance is classy as the watrises are in they're Versace dresses. As far as scenes go it really upscale and chic. The drinks are good, although kinda pricy. Music is a smooth groove ot top 40. All in all very attractive peoply including the bartenders. Don't go on the weekend though, very B&T not a good crowd Pros: Attractive people, good drinks, friendly staff more

Highly recommended to everyone! 5/27/2004

One has great music that makes everyone dance, gorgeous decor, and very professional owners who have been extremely polite to every guest I have brought in...much easier to take clients and expect to have a great time than many other trendy places in the meatpacking. Cannot wait to take advantage of the outdoor seating this summer! Pros: outdoor seating, great music, great bartenders more

What you should really expect... 5/17/2004

My wife and I invited our friends to a late dinner and were having drinks afterwards when the manager instructed the waitress not to serve us any more drinks as it was bottle service. This was after we had spent close to $700 on food and drinks. After I had complained to a bouncer (the manager would not see me) a waiter was sent over and did get us our drinks. Soon after, the hostess came over and told us to leave the table . . . it was reserved for someone who was buying a bottle. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THE ENTIRE PLACE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTYwe were the only table occupied. My party was greatly inconvenienced, and I was embarrassed and insulted. This is not Lotus, and no one should have to put up with this nonsense in a restaurant while spending considerable money. more

cool spot 5/1/2004

I liked ONE a lot. Aside from the service being slow, the place was packed w/ a good crowd and music was amazing. The food was good too. If you can get past the door, its worth a trip just to see the legs on the hostess as you walk in..... Pros: good crowd, good vibe more

Wonderful Experience 4/28/2004

I just had the best squid salad and boston black cod dish ever. what a great spot in the meatpacking district. Love the Mango martini! Can't wait to go back for the sunday Brunch! more

Friendly Space 4/27/2004

I live in the neighborhood, and am always welcomed when i come. i like to have dinner there during the week when it is more intimate and less crazy. I like to stop by for a drink over the weekend... a couple of weeks ago we were a large group, got a table in the center lounge... a great time made up of music that made us move, people that made us feel good, and our cute waitress that added the finishing touch. One suggestion - Don't get there too late. more

Funny Enough 4/21/2004

I came to this website to actually say how great this place is, and funny enough, how the door preson is a breath of fresh air compared to what i am used to in NYC. it is a lounge not a club. it provides great music fun, and yes!! bottle service!! the bar is a little too small and fills up quick... the girl in front lets everyone in, and will chat with you while you wait... she assured us we wont wait too long, and we didnt... it is what it is... some people need to lighten up, those bad reviews really surprised me. more

the One 3/22/2004

Great scene if you can get in the door- come early- stay late. Drinks are 12 for the specialties, 8 for a vodka tonic. The place is packed and is a great mix of friendly locals and ""scenesters"". Attentive and attractive bartenders mean eye candy for the women as well. Didn't eat but everything that went by looked delicious and the prices were reasonable for the area- which means expensive but not exorbitantly so. If we can get back through the door- we'll be back! Pros: service, location, space/decor more

Great Scene 2/23/2004

Great place for a birthday party. The downstairs room is private, yet open, so you don't feel isolated. Not ideal for a full scale meal, though the food is pretty good. More of a tapas feel to the menu. Great for a lite meal and then drinking. Very good looking crowd, so I'd think twice about bringing a date here. Don't go late without a reservation on a Fri/Sat night or else you'll be waiting. The service is severely lacking, so beware. Pros: Good food, Great atmosphere, Strong drinks Cons: , Wait to get in, Crowded more

Birthday Dinner 2/16/2004

I had my traditional birthday blow out...and it was so much fun during dinner, that we ended up staying all night..instead of going to a bar/club. Bottle Service was great, and everyone loved the transition from restaurant to lounge. Pros: music, food Cons: parking more

pleasantly surprised 2/15/2004

found this place because another restaurant in the area made a mistake with our reservation...our disappointment was quickly reversed after being greeted by a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. the food was delicious... more

What a waste of cash! 1/26/2004

There is no service at this bar, which means no drinks or food -- ultimately leading to a very frustrating night out, and you end up kicking yourself for not leaving an hour earlier. Pros: alternatives nearby Cons: the establishment more

One will become the loneliest number... 1/24/2004

One is the 'new kid on the block'; trying to impress by keeping some out, others in and appealing to the masses through their 'best of the best' word of mouth campaign. Went to this 'swank' hideout for the 'in' and was met with service that was disasterous, from the doorman to the servers. At one point, a waitress for our table wouldn't serve us. Truth be known, there was no reason for her 'attitude and pretentious aire'. The last time I checked One was a bar, but the proprieters must only want to keep up their che-che image. I wish them well, but would recommend any of the other lounges in the Meat Packing district before One, which I found to unpleasantly misrepresent it's name. I propose a name change from One to One Hundred, but then they'd have to relocate. Pros: a nice lounge, people watching Cons: the service, the service, the service more

Awful 1/12/2004

Went last saturday night due to the reviews listed here. Those must all be written by friends and staff because this is the worst restaurant I've been to in a long time. Food was okay but the portions were tiny and the service was so bad it was laughable. The place is nice looking but there are a lot of nice looking places in the city that know what good service means. Go elsewhere unless you like rude waitresses and long waits for tiny tiny portions of overpriced food. Pros: Hopping neighborhood Cons: Bad service, tiny portions, rude staff more

Dating in the City 12/29/2003

It's a great place to bring a date. It has a taste of romance and lots of class... but nowhere near cheesy. Your woman, or even man, will be impressed with this new hot spot. The menu offers a unique experience of sharing, tasting and exploring... all great things we want on a date!! But be careful with wondering eyes, the crowd is an eye pleaser!! more

  • Formerly occupied by the restaurant ONE, this Meatpacking District space has been transformed from a typical club into a junkyard chic restaurant and bar. The owners enlisted help from the designers at ICRAVE, who scoured eBay, Etsy and Craigslist to create an eclectic room decorated entirely with recycled pieces of art; for example, a flock of seagulls made out of license plates hangs over the main bar area and is meant to symbolize that birds have no boundaries. The menu is just as colorful, with highlights that include truffled deviled eggs, blue cheese tater tots, chicken ‘n’ waffles with maple gravy, veal and ricotta meatballs and Hong Kong ribs.
