Great Night at ONE - Good food, drinks and bar scene 3/25/2007

Went with a group of friends for dinner. The food and service were very good as was the ambiance. We decided to stay for drinks after dinner and the vibe was really nice, very cool scene. All in all, a great night at ONE. We'll go back! Pros: Food, Drinks, Bar Scene more

food is pretty good, the mushroom ravioli is fabulous, the chicken is also pretty good. the burgers are kinda weird. my drink was bad, and had to be sent back, and then it came back and was still bad, but i guess at least they tried? a cute trendy place, but not amazing. more

this place is a bust. it used to be a really cool place until the staff started treating customers like dirt. It's like the staff doesnt wanna be there but the money's good.\r \r Recently, this place has become a haven for kids. Being 31 at this place makes me feel like old.\r \r And yes, if you don't order a bottle/table service, you're screwed standing in a crowded room holding a drink looking like a succker.\r \r Gotta love the fake lines this place creates outside to make people in the street think this is a hot place still. Great DJ and fun on a cold night! 2/7/2007

I had a friday night reservation at One last week.All my girlfriends and I got dressed up even though the cold weather made us want to stay in.After some calls we decided the cold would not destoy our plans. We had a quick dinner,just some apps;Lobster quesadilla,chicken dumplings and tomato pizza.The DJ was awsome and some cute guys invited us to join them at their table.We danced and partied until we all finished the two bottles of vodka. We left and continued on with the guys we met for one more drink down the block.I'm happy we had the reservation at One because it got us out of our apts and we had a great night! Robbed at ONE 2/5/2007

I went to ONE the other night for a group dinner. Although the atmosphere was fun, the table was uncomfortable and the service was one of the worst I have ever experienced in NYC. The waiter was rude and incompetent. He carded every member of the group and accused one of us for having a fake id- even though everyone at the table was over 30. The food was ok, drinks were awful and it took over an hour for our dessert to come out. To make matters worse- the waiter overcharged my debit card by $200! Lucky I saved my signed receipt for $59 because when I brought this up with the manager the next day he also was unaccommodating. He offered no explanation for the charge and told me I would have to sit it out for ten days to wait to get my money back. This restaurant needs to re-evaluate their customer service. If you have ever used a credit or debit card at ONE I would double check that they didn't ""accidentally"" charge your card too. \r \r \r more

My husband proposed here after researching a million places in the area. The staff was wonderful and had out roses and rose petals. Free champagne to celebrate and a provate area. The setting was completely romantic and the service spectacular. Perfect for a special date. more

interesting food, nice service, come early! 1/15/2007

I showed up at One Little West 12th early on a Friday night. My boyfriend and I were seated without a reservation. We both really enjoyed our food and thought it as inventive and different. I would definatly come back here and recomend it to my friends, just show up early (around 6 or so) so they wont be bust yet. Our waiter was very attentive as well. more

Rude and Rushed... 12/18/2006

I have a set of friends who I dine with once a month and we all rotate on choosing the restaurant. Well, this was my month and I usually choose trendy spots so I did a little research and made reservations at One. Once we were seated and started on our drinks, the waiter told us that the table was reserved in about an hour and a half for another party and that we should order soon. I thought that was a bit rude since it wasn't like we were sitting around drinking air... we were drinking their over priced cocktails... so we were rushed through appetizers, dinner and dessert with the waiter standing over our table and trying to take away our plates before some of us were done...(he literally hovered by us and as soon as anyone put down their fork he was trying to clear their plate) we could barely have a conversation because he kept interrupting us to move on to the next course or to give us the check... I eat out a few times a week and I've never had such rude service. We ended up giving him EXACTLY 15% for a tip (even though he didn't deserve it) and as he was looking at the signed receipt he kind of made a gasping sound as if he couldn't believe how little his tip was... more

Nice place. 12/14/2006

I absolutely loved this place. My friends and I had dinner reservations for one of my friend's birthday. The hostess was very nice. We were seated promptly, and our waitress was amazing. She was very cheerful and friendly. The place has a really nice atmosphere, although I found the lighting to be a bit too dark for me. The food was good, as were the drinks. We arrived there around 9:30pm, and by 10:30pm the place was packed. I would definitely go back again. Pros: Extremely friendly service, good food, great atmosphere. Cons: Can get a little too crowded for my tastes. more

Just had dinner and drinks with a friend at One... the decor is nice although the seating arrangement was slightly too cram for us. The tables were barely 10cm apart and beside us were two beefcakes who looked like they were in kiddies' land. I think they left immediately after dinner for fear of developing the economy class syndrome... The food was average and the waiter got our orders wrong, even after repeating twice. The cocktails were not mixed well at all, tasting rather like cough syrup... and the dessert looked and tasted rather cheap.\r \r If you had to choose just one restaurant to go to for a nice dinner, this is Not the One... Wonderful Day 10/14/2006

I had brunch on a sunday afternoon at One. It was a beautiful fall day. The hostess that welcomed me was warm and inviting. The menu was very tantalizing. My waiter was a great help with his knowledge of the food and recommendations on entrees that i should try. I enjoyed the cuisine and the champagne drinks. The atmosphere is great, and I love the trendy people and decor of the One restaurant. I look forward to my next visit which will be very soon. If you havent gone there yet make a resvervation and enjoy! Pros: The service, food and the decor Cons: nothing more

Great place 10/14/2006

It's funny that the people who have written positive reviews can actually spell and form coherent sentences. I count myself in that category. Rudeness should never be acceptable, but in my experience, those who have found the employees rude or the crowd cheesy are cheesy themselves. I have been here many times, with my girlfriend, my sister, and in large groups of friends. The food is excellent. The service is great. Drinks are good. Good scene, good vibe-whether you're looking for an intimate evening or looking for a fun lounge to go to with friends. more

I have been here in the past and it was great. this time had a table and the hostess was so sweet to all of use but it seemed like the greasy haired manager was giving her trouble and then was completly rude to our table. this really made our experence terrible if i could get my money i would. i watched him the rest of the night like he was P Oed being there and was to busy yelling at his staff to be friendly to people spending good money there. i normally wont write a bad review i would just call the place to tell them but i want everyone to know. Avoid the Negative Reviews 9/2/2006

I disagree immensely with the negative reviews below. In fact the guys at the door were extremely pleasant, professional and friendly. We had to wait a little bit, but it is to be expected on a weekend night at such a popular place. This was like the 3rd or 4th time I have been here and the experience has always been great fun. This time around was for drinks. Once we got to the bar the bartenders were great. The service was quick and friendly.\r \r The other times I went for dinner. We were seated five minutes after our reservation, again the service was great as well as the food. \r \r Take the time and check it out, you will not be disappointed, but definitely make a reservation for dinner or show up on the earlier side if you are going for drinks. \r Pros: The staff, The food more

Never been treated so poorly in me life 8/29/2006

let me start by saying we had reservations and waited about an hour for a table. The hostesses were nice enough to offer us drinks while we waited but there male manager was rude to us and the service was soo slow it was like they wanted us to leave. The food was good and the drinks were great but our experince was second to third class i have never been so rudly treated by a manager in my life time but there was a really nice server there named heather i think that was so sweet to us they are lucky they have someone like that there to smooth the road. New York Vibe 7/22/2006

There are very few places in the meat packing district that continue to provide a New York Vibe worthy of us TRUE New Yorkers. It seems the area is becoming oversaturated with the likes of tourists and commuters. However, one exception to this is ONE LITTLE WEST 12Th ST. Located directly across from Pastis. \r \r My Girlfriend and I went back to One (after having not have been there in over a year) the other night to celebrate out anniversary. Immediately we noticed a new Vibe in the place. It was much more like a real dining room as opposed to a nightclub that served food. We both ordered 2 excellent cocktails off the specialty cocktail list. I had the new Old Fashion and she had Pretty in Pink, a drink made with a new Vodka called PINK that is infused with Caffine and Guarana.\r \r For dinner we decided to take our servers advice and order several items to share. Some of the things we ordered were The Duck Spring Rolls, Lobster and Goat Cheese Quesadillas, Wild Mushroom Ravioli and the concluded dinner with a steak special that was out of this world. \r \r I highly recommend ONE to everyone. The service is awesome very chill and relaxed, but efficient. The Food was extremely tasty. And even if you have been there before, I encourage you to revisit it. It Rocks! Okay we admit where gold digging girls we are hot and we know it and girls ssome of your groups know what i am talkin about not the fat pigs the fat pigs who eat there before so they can get in but we do have our femine side. but the guys who hang her a cheesy. The servers where nice and cute. There was no vibe but i love the dj(Willie) he is so cute. he played that music i have heard from a kid till neame thanks willie.   • Formerly occupied by the restaurant ONE, this Meatpacking District space has been transformed from a typical club into a junkyard chic restaurant and bar. The owners enlisted help from the designers at ICRAVE, who scoured eBay, Etsy and Craigslist to create an eclectic room decorated entirely with recycled pieces of art; for example, a flock of seagulls made out of license plates hangs over the main bar area and is meant to symbolize that birds have no boundaries. The menu is just as colorful, with highlights that include truffled deviled eggs, blue cheese tater tots, chicken ‘n’ waffles with maple gravy, veal and ricotta meatballs and Hong Kong ribs.
