I was doing research to locate unique venues for our patrons. I work in an upscale hotel downtown. After reading the comments regarding "discrimination" I know I certainly woul...

RACISTS 12/21/2007

I have been to O bar twice and NEVER Have i felt so disrespected [ANYWHERE!]. Basically the bouncer made us wait in line for 15 minutes while he let OTHER people in [WHITE PEOPLE]. and didnt say ANYTHING to us. if you are going to be racists, then please let me know so i dont waste my time. this world is never going to get better because of places like O BAR and it's workers. more

Great Underground Lounge 12/2/2007

This place rocks. Not only is it underground but the place is super cool. The music was right on, the place is non-smoking (there is a covered patio which allows smoking) and the staff is the best I have seen in Dallas. We had a table with bottle service and had one of the best times. We have been to Suite and Ghostbar and they have nothing on this place. Pros: Great Music and Lounge Cons: None more

NY basement style...watch out!!! 8/23/2007

Nice atmoshpere, NY style. A little dimmer than what I am comfortable with. watch out for the post in the middle of the floor, they are painted in a dark color (hard to see). I went for happy hour, no one to wait and serve us, only bar service. requested for the candles to be lit since it was dark, the bartender said no, not until 9:00 p.m. the patio looks really cool, it was raining so that was out...The happy hour drink prices were a joke. $3.00 off of a $12.00 cosmo (well drink). There is always a 1st time. I think I will pass on the next invite here. Pros: Chill mode Cons: drink prices more

Expensive Drinks 6/29/2007

I thought the atmosphere at the OBar was great. I loved the lounging area and the patio. What I didn't like was the expensive drinks. For Example, Bud Light 12oz Bottle - $5.00, Cosmo Martini (well-version) - $9.00. To me, that's just way too outrageous, and I will probably not go back because of the drink prices. But if I was just looking to hang out and not drink, then I would go back just for the atmosphere. more

phonies everywhere! 6/20/2007

was looking for someplace fun to go tonight with a few girlfriends. Came accross your place. thanks for the comments written descibing your bar, saved me a trip. the crowd is materialstic and pretentious. i was completely disgusted but enlightened. sounds like there isnt a real adult in the place! more

Fun, upscale bar and CUTE girls 5/24/2007

Went here for the first time last night and had a great time. VERY cute girls were there and were talkative and outgoing. The doormen and patrons are both very selective, but it's a great scene. Typical patron: young, SMU students and early to mid 20's; high class; drive a 7series BMW or Maseratti; adorned in Gucci, DG, Louis Vuitton, etc and trendy; VERY attractive; a large amount of disposable income; hitting very upscale clubs 5 nights a week wouldn't faze most of the people there. We had a great time and chatted with quite a few girls who ranged from sober and outgoing to one who was smoking hot, wasted (at midnight no less) and grinding on guys against the bar and touching herself (let your imagination run). The reviews here seem a bit off in that the bartenders were nothing to write home about, but they were very nice and pleasant. The waitstaff (all girls) was very attractive, chatty, and VERY attentive - watching the level of drinks quite well and offering refills without being intrusive. We will definitely head back. The only downside was the high bill: 2 mojitos, 1 bud light, 6 royalfucks and 1 glass johnnie walker blue label came to over $160. Also, there was a very creepy transvestite who arrived alone around 1:00am and remined until close to 2:00am when the doormen finally realized the crowd's repulsion at him/her/it and kicked him/her/it out. The staff jokingly offered that him/her/it comes about twice a week and sometimes does bring unsuspecting guys back with the him-being-a-her. Disgusting. But it was obvious and out of the ordinary, so don't let this weird experience keep you from going. This basement bar is by far one of the classier, fun establishments. more

You have got to go..... 5/18/2007

Alright you all, I have probably been to a hundred clubs in Dallas but I have to give it up to the people at Obar. From the decor to the servers, everything just flowed. My friends and I were taken care of by an extremely hot bartender, I forgot his name but you will know what I am talking about when you walk in. Just as a recommendation, order a grape shot, those things put me on my a**. And if you are a non-smoker like me, you will love not being surrounded by a puff of smoke. I am heading back on Thursday to check out their guest DJ and plus I hear they are having an open bar from 10-11, ya can't beat that!!! Pros: Ambience more

Great VIP Club 2/19/2007

So I came down from Colorado to celebrate my friends bachelor party. I was in charge of planning the party and had never been to Dallas before. I made a reservation for a table about a week in advance and then thought that we should go somewhere else. I emailed the host at Obar to express my concerns and he called me back immediately. We ended up taking a limo to the Obar and got there saturday night at around midnight. We were greated at the door by the vip guy and he took us straight to our table. There were 8 of us (all guys) and we had made reservations to buy 2 bottles (ive never done this before). We were introduced to our waitress (laura i think) and she was extremely hot. The host came over to make sure we were ok and actually made us shots right at the table. By 1 am he had brought over several groups of some of the hottest girls to keep us company. We ended up buying more bottles to keep the girls happy. The bar was packed.... mostly women and we had a blast. I wont go to another club any where without a table ever again. Thank you for making the bachelor party such a success. Highly reccomended!!!!!!!!!!! I havent had this much fun in a club since we went to Ra in Vegas several years ago. Pros: The vip guy rocks. Waitresses are hot Cons: no dance floor more

They got nothing on Houston 2/15/2007

So me and my friend went to Obar last friday (2-9-07) and it was horrible. We were told that they had great drinks, good dance music a dance floor and hott waiters. Well they were all lies. There was no dance floor uless it was hidden somewhere. The waiters were okay, but not like Tyson Beckford or anything. And the drinks, well all i have to say about that is that i've had better drinks in Greenville (at an irsish pub). The crowd was nothing but thirty and up. So we decided to leave and the doorman told us to come back on Thursday, that it was better and they played better music. Well we went and it was even more horrible than the first time. We got there at 12 and no one was there, there was propbably twenty people there including my friends and I, the bartenders, the doorman and the valet. I decided to give there drinks another chance, but that too was a bad move on my part. I ordered a cosmo, and i could have saved ten dollars and went home and made it myself. It's like they make drinks for people with no taste buds. Anyways, don't go!!!!!!!! Pros: The ambience was good Cons: But everything else was horrible more

A little disappointed....but willing to give it another try 2/1/2007

I moved here from Atlanta and so I am new to the Dallas area and everytime I go out the places just don't live up to the hype. Obar has potential and I think a Friday night would be better. I went to Obar on a Thursday for the Martinis and Manicures and stayed to watch Grey's Anatomy. It was my first time at Obar and the club's atmosphere and decor was as luxurious as the website and my co-workers boasted. It was pretty early in the evening after work so there weren't many people there but it was relaxing. The drinks are delicious and worth the $12. The bartender, however, was a little rude and semed more interested in his laptop (that he had setup at the end of the bar) and seemed a little perturbed that he actually had to stop what he was doing to uh... work. Besides the bartender that had male PMS it is worth a another try Pros: Ambience, Music,Good Drinks Cons: Rude Bartender more

Basement bar 11/15/2006

It was a Friday night when we went so the bar was incredibly busy. The first time I ordered a drink it took over 10 minutes. After that it was better, though the drinks are pricey. Overall a decent place to hang out. But I wasn't overly impressed. I didn't like the basement vibe...too claustrophobic for me at times because it was so packed. more

Tops for seniors!! 11/15/2006

I'm in here every evening I can make it. I'm 70 years old, but you wouldn't guess it, cause the oBar sure loosens you up. If you live in White Rock or Lake Highlands area, it's convenient, and the girls sure are friendly to us old guys. Try it, you'll like it. Just ask for Gerry and you'll find me real quick. Pros: Great for meeting girls. Cons: Drinks are high. more

obar 9/22/2006

This place is so cool, it's great to have a place to go five nights a week. Great Staff, Great Drinks, Great Music. Doesn't get any better, oh by the way it's non-smoking indoors (very cool). The patio is the best in Dallas. We watched Grey's Anamony after getting our nails done last Thursday and that Dr. McDreamy Cocktail what a great idea. Pros: The best Underground Place I've seen since Amsterdam. Cons: Why are you closed on Sunday & Monday? more

Best Bar in Dallas 9/21/2006

Most beautiful bar in the city, and one of the best I've seen in the country. Martini Manicure Thursday is great. Susan does a fantastic job and the Obar is known for their Martini's. The bartenders are cool. Good people. As is the manager and most of the regulars and DJs. It get's crazy packed late but is chill for an after work place. The music is always good and the patio is beautiful. They usually have some kind of promotion going on too. This bar has style and personality! more

Hottest Nightspot 9/20/2006

great drinks and fun, hip music. I was blown away by the crowd. H O T. This was the first time I ever messed around with a guy, I dont remeber his name, but he was easily the wildest bartender there! I will never look at a bathroom stall the same way again! long live Dallas and that frisky tender'!! more

Oh, Oh, Oh, O-Bar! 9/18/2006

I live to see and be seen. The bartenders are hot and the martinis flow like rivers of Capestrano. I really enjoy going alone and sitting in one of the dark corners to watch the dancers after work. And yes I am a woman. i will always wait in line to get into O bar. more

Best single scene 9/15/2006

This place rocks! There are so many good looking and classy woman its hard not to become a regular. The atmosphere was a great surprise. Get there early or you will stand in line. Pros: Attractive crowd Cons: Only valet. Only open till 2. more

Thursday nights are great!!! 9/15/2006

I absolutely loved my first experience at the Obar. On Thursday nights, they do a martini and manicure for $20 from 5pm-9pm. Usually the bar isn't busy at that time, so unwinding in the chic space and conversations with the bartender and other customers is fun! After that, get another drink and take it to the patio! I love the serene feel before it gets too busy. Before you know it, the place is packed with beautiful people and you are hooked! Dress to impress here, it's too much fun! The DJ was great!! Pros: the bartenders, beautiful people, chic decor Cons: can't think of one! more

Best night out ever! 9/15/2006

I loved the atmosphere it was relaxing and aesthetically pleasing. The girl/guy ratio is like 2 to 1. I cant believe i am just now discovering this place. I will definitly be back and bringing all of my people. If you are in Downtown you owe to yourself to stop in and check this place out. Pros: Best bartneders hand down Cons: Long line more
