Number One Pho is a gem, just outside of downtown at 31st and Superior. Two blocks up on Paine is Asia Plaza, so make an afternoon of it.
Superb Vietnamese food - I haven't had anything that hasn't been amazing. Highly recommended dishes: Pho Tai Soup (rare beef in an amazing beef broth with noodles and scallions - comes with a side plate of Thai basil, hot peppers and lime wedges, with hoisin and rooster chili sauce); Chicken Cabbage Salad (wonderful tart/sweet dressing), Fish in a Claypot, Chicken in a Claypot, Crispy Springrolls. If you like Bubble Tea, this is the place to try a bunch of different flavors. Full range of Asian beers too, and Thai Iced Coffee and Tea.
Beautiful space that was seemingly carved out of nothing, and a great staff. (Apple is the best!)
Some days this place is packed, and some days not so much. The lunch menu is very limited as compared to the dinner menu, so keep that in mind. The Pho Tai is available all the time though!
