North 45 Pub

I know this place gets crowded sometimes. that's because it's so great. North 45 has finally come and has filled a hole in my heart. NW 21st is great for bar hopping, but if you want a place to call your own, this is the spot. it's not a smoke-filled dive bar, it isn't filled suburban escapees like the Gypsy, and it is so much better than Blue Moon it's hard to know where to start. Go to North 45. If it's busy, make a point of making friends with the staff - they want your business. I checked out North 45's happy hour last Friday and I have to say that I was pretty impressed. They had a good selection of happy hour menu items - I highly recommend the mussels. They had an eclectic cocktail and beer list. I went out on a limb and tried the white cosmo and was pleasantly surprised. Love that it's non-smoking! Will definitely be back. I went to North 45 on a Friday night and was surprised just how unique its atmosphere was. The pub has traveling theme, so there are national flags & money on the walls and such. Pretty cool! Pros: Food, drinks, atmosphere more

This place is fantastic. I have tried most of the menu and have yet to be disappointed (Try the Mussels). The liquor selection is second to none in NW, and the beer can't be beat. Get linked in to their myspace site (north45pub), and they keep you up to date on whats going on at the pub. They seem to know what Portland wants, and deliver it like nobody else...Finally, some place worth calling NW's best local pub. Pros: Ambiance, Staff, Food and Drink more

I'm not a soup guy.. but my wife and I sidled into a cozy table, the music was good, but not so loud you can't talk. The wife grabbed a cup of the chicken dumpling soup as we continued to check out the menu. Wow.. that literally was the best soup I've ever had! We've been back quite a few times, primarily for the comfortable atmosphere that seems to recharge the battery more than a typical pub would... But every time we go now we always try the soup and are always raving. Love the fish and chips, and the burger for a meal. Will be back often! Wait staff is attentive & cheerful. The usual barkeep is knowledgable and pours/mixes relative to that knowledge. Erika, the occasional bartender is.... (hope the wife doesn't read this)... gorgeous. :-) more

went in for a drink to check the place out with a friend. had just got done moving so we were not in "" Yupi"" clothes. Bartender was ok but couldnt remember 2 drinks that were the same . Thats ok. sat at a table took 10 minutes to get another round. O yea it never came. 12 people in the bar and they couldnt get me a drink . We felt like because we were not dressed up , they didnt want us there. To bad for them that the 2 of us probably make more then everyone in there combined including the owner. North 45 has a great vibe; feels like you are hanging out at a good friend's house. The world theme is a great conversation starter and the menu is excellent. The mussels are particularily good and portions are very generous. We came for drinks and ended up coming back for dinner several times. The happy hour is GREAT! Josh, Jim, Bart and Blake made us feel right at home and they went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. This place is a wonderful addition to NW 21st. more

the addition of North 45 is a huge addition to the tired 21st area. the place is packed everynight, the food is incredible because they do it well and simple with a creative edge. the 21st Neighborhood is moving up with Bartini, Urban Fondue, Bastas and Virtigo and Pisces 21st is back for the neighborhood. Pros: food service the owner is great! Cons: to busy needs to be bigger !! more

This place nails it. You know that pub or club from your past travels- the one that felt enought like home for you to let loose but exotic enough to be a whole new experience? Maybe it was your frame of mind at the time- but wasn't that place just perfection for one night? North 45 captures that spirit. It'll stir up memories of old adventure and perhaps even inspire new ones. And the mussells! So good! An solid and original addition to Portland's pub collection. Everything about North 45 is just classy. The service, menu selection and the setting all put together make it an all-around enjoyable experience. My favorite bit about the place are their drinks which are all from a different place on the globe. Their beers are another treat! I would highly recomend checking them out: definitely a good new thing! more
