This place is your typical junky-looking secondhand bookstore. Since it's only blocks away from 9th Street, why not go to Regulator bookstore instead. Well, occasionally you will...

Books books and more books! Holy printed material of all sorts, selection, location, hours supreme! 1/16/2009

Stacks and rows and stacks upon stacks ;b Love this store, love its locale near Duke, 9th St, and hub bub yet accessible, open late after my shift ends (YAY!) and LARGE parking lot! Like this Broad St store better than Hillsborough St, Raleigh (which I haven't been to in 3 years so may have improved), but both have top notch selection and variety, great prices, allowing me many reads for less cash, they do take cards, they do have an ""account"" system for crediting used books submitted by customers, they do have a fun, eclectic set-up in the Broad St store, albeit a little disorganized, but better than many other used bookstores I've been in. This ain't no Barnes and Noble folks, thank God!! Treat it well, as the lil slice of unique enjoyment that it is. more

I go there for the records. 7/25/2007

Nice Price Books of Chapel Hill is definetly the best source of used vinyl records in the Carrboro/ Chapel Hill area. I have found most of my collection there, and I highly recommend it to anyone. It has become an even better music resource with my recent purchase of a portable record player. My #1 Nice Price highlight is when I found a Link Wray: Swan Singles collection double album on Sundazed Records for $10.00, which retails new for $25! Let that be proof that they live up to their name. Pros: Fun place to be. Tidy, clean store with lots of character, very cool t-shirts offerred. Cons: The staff could be more outgoing and cheery at times. more

A great adventure! 1/4/2007

I always feel like Indiana Jones when I go into Nice Price--I'm never sure if a big stack of books is going to come cascading down on me when I stand on my tippy-toes to reach something! You have to be willing to put in some time searching here, but I always come out with an armful of great things. Pros: Selection Cons: Not for the impatient shopper! more

A classic! 11/4/2006

Nice Price Books is an incredible used bookstore which the most unique and indepth selection around. Everytime I go I find something wonderful! For any book lover around or for the bargain shopper, Nice Price is the way to go! more

Rude Dudes!!! 7/9/2006

This has to be the best place to go if you want the staff and managers to treat you like idiots.\r I have been there a few times and when inquiring about a particular type of reading material they provided me with a very sarcastic look and could not provide me with anything close to what I visited their to find. Pros: Well lit. Cons: Dumb inapprpriate staff and manager. more

good for instrument rentals 4/2/2006

This is a cute little spot that sells cheap books but also rents instruments. They have a pretty wide variety of instruments, but tend to run out once the start of school rolls around. They also give preference to returning customers, so go early and call often. They also sell a wide variety of sheet music and can special order music and music books too. The staff here is great. more

A great place to get lost 3/9/2006

Whether you're looking for a particular book - or just browsing to find something that strikes your fancy - this is the best place to go. My daughter and I love to go in and just get lost in one section or another. Too often I find much more than I went in for. Nice Price has such a comfortable atmosphere, with more books than the shelves will hold. Pros: Friendly, Comfortable, Great selection more

Great selection, love the incentive program 11/7/2005

I was distraught one day when I drove into the strip mall looking for Nice Price Books. It was gone. Some strange shop had taken its place. But I soon found the new location. Spacious, organized, and with plenty of parking, the new Nice Price Books holds more than just books. Used dvds and videos, cds, albums and games make up much of the selection. Interesting music is always playing through the speakers as I browse the generous fiction sections. Seriously, this has been the place I've had the best luck filling out series by certain authors. And my husband loves the t-shirts. Buy a certain amount in a visit, get a stamp, get enough stamps and you can get a t-shirt for free or some money back. Always fun. And their pricing structure is straightforward too! more

biggest is best 7/11/2005

This is the big mother outlet of Nice Price, where you can buy, sell and trade ( in credit) your books, CDs, DVDs, etc - good parking in older shopping center, easy to locate. Call for hours for buying books - credit available anytime but cash not always. This is a great alternative to the chain bookstores offering a great selection and bargain price. Recommended for study books, reference books, and trip reads for the compulsive-reader tourist. PROS: big, good parking CONS: more

Awesome Selection 6/8/2005

If you don't like paying chain-store prices for books, head over to Nice Price! Everything is 1/2 off the cover price. Books are almost always in near-perfect condition. Staff is really knowledgeable. They'll buy your books & cds for cash or trade, too. Solid Cd & DVD selection, also on the cheap, some rare stuff and VHS, alsoo. more

Bibliophile heaven! 10/30/2002

I've been going to NPB for years because you can usually find any book you're looking for. The owners are TERRIFIC people and they have always had great staff. The Durham store is my favorite! Pros: Inexpensive, Great resale policy, quiet more
