There seems to be a lot of tailors on the lower east side of Manhattan, perhaps a hold over from the time that the neighborhood was filled with garment businesses. Nelson was recommended by a Brooklyn boutique owner - I bought a 50s type dress for a performance my daughter was involved in, but the dress needed to be taken in. Nelson did a fabulous job. It turned out to be a fairly complicated job, but when he was finished, you never would have known that he had altered the dress so radically. A big bonus was his price - maybe $18!! The downside is that he is far from the subway - a long walk down Rivington and you'll pass other tailors!! Maybe some of them are good, but I do trust Nelson.
