Its the best i've ever eaten. The prices are great and the food is home cooked daily. The service is super for a working person needing a quick lunch because any entree is typacially served in 5 minutes, sometimes less. Great job Nates!!! more

Nates RULES! Best hummus and shishtawok! Mmmmmm! 1/13/2008

I moved from Cleveland to Tampa two and a half years ago- and I miss Nates! We dont have anything that compares to it in Tampa. Everytime I go back home to Cleveland, Nates is one of the first places I have to go. I love, love, love the food, service and relaxed atmosphere. Very highly recommended! more

Mediterranean food 2/25/2007

Nate's has the best Greek salad, hummus, and falafel. Not only does it have the best mediterranean food, it is also cheap and served quickly. Great place for lunch! more

Yummm. 2/15/2003

Best hummous in town, without question. And it's not just the hummous, but the delicious warm pita they serve it with. No one else does falafel like this, either, with plenty of tomatoes & tahini on top. My Lebanese friend says this is the real deal and not an Arabic Chi-Chi's like some other places (you know who you are). What do I know from Arabic food -- but I can tell you that Nate's is delicious, and perfect after shopping at the Market. Pros: Best hummous, Good service, Good prices Cons: Crowded, Sometimes noisy more

Editorial
  • The Scene
To get the quickest sense of what makes this city tick, spend a day at Nate's. This little luncheonette combines blue collars and white noise, then adds a scoop of hummus. Sitting here is like reading a novel by Balzac or Joyce: You watch the infinite variety of social gradations in all their complexity. Plus, it's a fun place to hang out.

    The Food
Noon brings the blue suits to sample chickpea paste and olive oil dip. Order a tabouleh salad full of tomatoes and wheat and watch the neighborhood--released from a day in the sweatshops--take home marinated chicken cubes and beef strips in sesame. Nate's can take you pretty much wherever you want to go in this town without ever leaving the counter.
