Quality of food is good, price is unacceptably high. Kids' meals are just heated frozen meals from the grocery store (in fact, the Chicken nuggets are Tyson Dinosaur fun shaped nuggets http://www.tyson.com/recipes/Product/ViewProduct.aspx?id=314). Price per kids meal was $2.99 (with a 25 cent bag of Lays chips and a soda out of a can). Soda not included in cost. Soda cost = $1.25 each.
I have been there twice and both times been disappointed with the service size per $. Today (3 Jan 09) I had a special of $2 per nagiri serving (down from regular of $5 per serving). Serving size is...1 piece. So, with a 60% off coupon, I got about one regular size serving for $8. Compare with other sushi bars where you get 4 pieces of nagiri for about $9 regular priced (this place would be $20 regular priced). I was still hungry so I ordered a Kai Roll (very good). That was both a good meal, and an acceptable portion size (6 big pieces) for $11.25. My wife also ordered a chicken brocoli bowl for $6.49 (again, drink not included), and it was very small and didn't fill her up.
Recommendation: there is a new sushi bar at the HEB Plus across the street...likely the source of the sushi quality fish Nakamura uses...just buy sushi there unless you want a fancy roll, and go elsewhere for the non-sushi meals. Use take-out for the fancy rolls, and get your drinks at home.
Compare with Lim's buffet sushi and China Garden, which both have mediocre sushi, this is better, but costly. Ichiban is comparable, but a MUCH fancier dining experience, with superior customer service and a bigger menu.
