Editorial review from Citysearch 2/26/2013

I had a HORRIBLE experience here: they gave me a nail fungus! Do not go here. And on top of it they do not care about customer service...\r When I called to tell them what happened, the manager, Helen (?) practically hung up on me. She did not offer a refund or even an apology. \r I will never go back! more

MORE THAN ONE BAD EXPERIENCE - DONE! 3/18/2012

VERRRRRRY OVERPRICED!!!! RUDE RECEPTIONIST & OWNER, & INEXPERIENCED MANICURIST(S). Tried a couple times and initial experience was confirmed. Don't bother wasting your time and don't spend your money. Much better and more reasonable places to go, without the rudeness. Didn't even get a good manicure. When paying those prices and withstanding the rudeness, at least would expect experienced/nice manicure. NOT GOOD !!! more

RUDE Receptionist and OLD Polish 2/17/2012

Let me start by saying that I have been going to Nail Garden for the last 5 years. I used to only go to the Studio City location but stopped once the Fashion Square one opened. I decided to go grab a quick manicure during lunch today. What should have been a 30 minute experience took almost an hour and a half (FOR A BASIC manicure). I had to pick out 3 different polishes because each bottle that I chose was so gunky and old that the polish would not go on evenly. Once I finally got a bottle that was not super old, the manicurist applied the top coat. In the top coat little pieces of silver glitter came out all over my done nails. At this point, I had to go as I was on a lunch HOUR and had already been at the salon for an hour and a half. When I went to pay I told the receptionist that they should update their polishes because I had to go through 3 different colors. She said they do and always throw away old ones. Well honey, obviously you dont! Because there were 3 siting on the nail station that I just left. Then I showed her the silver glitter streaks covering my red polish and she said oh it shouldnt be like that. We can fix it now for you. Yeah you are right, it shouldnt be like that. I told her I didnt have time and instead of doing the right thing and not charging me for the crappy manicure she said well I guess I can give you 10 percent off. Hate to break it to you dear receptionist, but I already get 10 percent off with my Universal discount. Thanks for the favor though. Needless to say, I will NEVER go back to Nail Garden. more

WORST MANICURE EVER 5/22/2011

Took a friend here who needed to get a manicure for a wedding she was attending the next day. I had never been but thought it would work fine for what she needed. I decided to join her. The place was extremely crowded - felt like a nail and foot conveyor belt. My manicurist was rude, accusatory about a nail that was shorter and split, was done in about 7 minutes (4 coats of polish back to back), there was no drying time, no drying spray, she looked perturbed when I said I had not been there before and didn't know what type of manicure I wanted. She just up and left at the end and then I saw her come out from the back with her lunch/dinner to go each outside. By the time I got home, 4 of my nails were ruined. For $17? And I just couldn't bring myself to give a tip - and I""m not like that. I wIll never go again. more

Nice and Charismatic Manicurist !!! 12/10/2010

First of all, I am a very picky person. I want my nail the way I like it. Not the way you or anyone might like or suggested. The reception was great because they found me the manicurist that I've been looking for. He's very charming and did exactly what I wanted on my nails. The first manicurist that did not try to talked me out of what I wanted, I was very surprised !!! Tony was informative and exceeds my expectation. He's a very charismatic person with a very fun personality, we had a very fun conversation the whole time, I'm not just staring at the wall. He actually talked to me and I had a Great time. Thanks Tony !!! more

Finally, a nail salon we love! 7/22/2010

My daughters and I finally found a nail salon that we love! We've looked all around and couldn't find a place that offered what we wanted...good service, a nice atmosphere, sanitized utensils, walk-in availability and lots of colors to choose from. Now we are so thrilled. My daughter first found the one in Studio City and that was great, but when we learned they also had a location at Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks we just couldn't believe it. We usually don't make an appointment and get in very quickly. Every person working there has been pleasant. They offer lots of colors and the end result is always beautiful. They have a lot of special treatments for your hands and feet, in various packages to choose from. Check out their menu when you arrive. They also have wonderful massage chairs, so the whole experience is very relaxing. Their prices aren't cheap, but not bad, especially since we leave feeling so great. They're located right off the parking lot, so it's an easy trip to the car in those disposable flipflops, just in case you forget your own. I highly recommend this place...a real treat! Pros: Great ambiance and wonderful manicures and pedicures more

Lousy service 6/13/2010

Ive been here more than a few times .... something always done wrong. Never ever have your eyebrows waxed ... they will remove half your brows .. do NOT know what they are doing. bad experices with mani and pedi's also .... sloppy work ... and get snooty when you try to tell them to fix it. And for the 10% off coupons ... if you go in and have a pedicure with the french, than your 10 percent isn't off the WHOLE service .... the service ONLY counts for the price of a REGULAR pedicure ... the extra $5 doesn't count in the 10% off .... even though the extra is still part of the service ..... very MISLEADING to say the least. Had the french mani yesterday and woke up today with the white chipped off 3 nails ... went back today to get fixed .... very rude about doing it, but did it. They are all about the quantity of people versus the quality .. they hurry you up t get to there next customer. I have now decided to go across the street where you can get better service with less the cost .... A friend also has had very bad experiences over there, half her eyebrow was also taken off with a eyebrow wax, the girl colored it in with a pencil .... that is a joke! I was in there one day when a celebrity cam in with all the paps outside, they were ALL distracted by it and barley paid attention to doing there jobs ... the girl messed up twice on my pedicure and had to start over becasue she wasn't focused on me ..... too much hype for your buck ... very overpriced for the lousy service you get. First time ever I didn't tip .... always regretted my tip in past, but this time and didn't bother. Pros: close by Cons: rude front desk- unskilled service etc etc ... more

Finally! 6/7/2010

I've tried numerous nail spots in LA, SFV and Beverly Hills. I have left each feeling slightly unhappy with my hands, perhaps because they are naturally awkward. It was during my last mushroom experience when I really focused on my hands and realized that the fat bulk of acrylics was unsightly and bothersome. I chose Nail Garden because it was close to home and provided the nail gel service I was looking for to replace the gargantuan acrylics I'd been struggling with for years. Initially, the girl at the front desk what somewhat rude and not quite sure how to answer my questions, but once I got my nail tech, Katie, she knew exactly what to do and answered all of the my questions with a smile. She consulted me what would be best for my hands with the work I do, suggested a cheaper alternative to that which I had originally planned for, took her time to make my hands absolutely perfect, and the result was flawless. I was impressed with the glimmering floors, the European chairs, the chords hidden by vines, the electric shades and the plethora of colors and service choices they had. No hassle, no problems, sweet people and a relatively convenient location. I couldn't be happier with my nails. Definitely worth the money you spend. I would recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Friendly, knowledgable staff; excellent products; clean Cons: Front desk rudeness, mall environment more

Regular Client, and I'll tell you why. 2 of 2 4/9/2010

2. Most of us who come here are looking to relax, or evaporate the stress of the day, I have to talk all day long, I'm conversationed out when I come, talking to co- workers is not a crime. If you are worried about it, get to know your tech. They do like to talk to you, and if not they are happy to leave you be. 3. Don't go in with the attitude that everything is taken care of via mind reading. Tell your tech what you want up front. See if it can be done, just because one salon does something, it might not be available here. 4. Be polite, we are all people. For some reason, we have this culture clash. I have witnessed people come here and walk in front of the sofa 'checking out"" the techs and pointing to someone. This is not a brothel. I have witnessed rudeness to the extreme in nail salons by spoiled people of every race. And, I have seen it here. Again, be polite, sure it's your money, but how would you feel if someone treated you like a servant. 1A. Counter Staff: Ok, so not many people liked Tanya, so she is gone. She always treated me well, maybe because I asked her name, and developed a working relationship with her. Some of the counter staff are young, and learning. Youngsters learn by example, immigrants learn by example. Are we following? If there is a problem, ask politely for the owner's name and number, if you can't work out the situation. 1B. Pricing is high here. Location, staff numbers, good chairs, autoclave, awesome OPI selection, etc. The techs don't set prices, they work on commission plus tips. Upselling sucks, but hey! It's part of sales. I don't think nail salons are charities, I keep missing the big ""Come here and get your nails done for free!"" sign outside. I would love to see specials on slow days, specials for regular customers, specials for new customers that are intending to form relationships. These are what makes clients happy. 1C. Who goes here? I do, and some of my celeb friends do too. I get compliments on my hands and nails all the time. I put my nails through hell on a daily basis, but they always look great. People who appreciate a touch better then regular cookie cutter service should come here, and form a relationship. 1D. Again, I will rave about the staff. My tech, Linh, is awesome. She takes great care of me, my hands and toes look and feel great, I'm treated special here. When I have had services by other techs, they are all great. Linh knows my needs, and if for some reason she left, I would follow her to wherever she went. If I couldn't I would have no problem adopting another tech from NG. I have been to other places before NG. I have left with nailbeds burning, bleeding, feet in buckets, and staff that couldn't stay away from the free wine. No so here. I don't drink, so I don't know about the free stuff here, (Really? who ever thought that serving alcohol in a salon was a good idea anyway? Is that not what a bar or your home is for? I wish this trend would stop.) I have no time, and most others don't for fake reviews, and vengeance postings. This is a real post and review. I don't have time to Facebook or twitter, but I have taken an hour out of my day to write this. Give them a try, book a consult, and meet with a tech before your appointment to discuss what you want, put in the time and you will get what you put in. DT- Eagle Rock Pros: Clean, Excellent work, caring, you get what you put in. Cons: * See below* more

CHATTY EMPLOYEES 4/3/2010

So I've been going to this place for years now and I usually go there after work to get my mind off of work and stress. However, there are these 2 employees who CANNOT keep their mouth shut. They talk in a loud obnoxious manner about other people. There have been several instances where this has occurred. I believe that one of the girl names is LINH and the other one is LUCY. So next time when you go there to relax, make sure those two girls are not working that day. more

WOW 12/1/2009

The best part of it was that they have the massage chairs for the pedicure and I had two estheticians at once. Let me just say I almost fell asleep in the chair the service was so relaxing. I never had to leave the chair. They even provided me with a neck pillow. Only thing was that it was pricey, but I would say it was well worth it. Pros: best nail salon in town! more

Best Mani Pedi 11/3/2009

When i first went to nail garden i was a little worried only because i am known to complain about every detail on my nails and i warn the manicurist ahead of time about my disease! i was actually surprised and very impressed with how the manicurist was attentive to my needs which was a plus off the bat for me. She asked me if i wanted a callus remover and i told her i was too sensitive for that so she willingly worked extra on my calluses because they were a mess. I was very thrilled with my experience there and i will definitely be returning! Pros: Clean , Coffee and Tea! more
