Editorial review from eat24hours.com 7/24/2011

The delivery speed was very decent and the delivery guy was really nice, but the food is pretty bad. Decent samosas, though a little undercooked (not crispy at all). Chicken curry had a strata of red grease on top of it, and the chicken pieces were primarily bone, fat and gristle. What meat there was left had been boiled to the point of paste. Lamb tikka masala was less greasy and had a decent flavor, but the meat again was mostly fat, gristle, and giant chunks of jagged bone. Since this isn't a meal you're supposed to be picking apart with your hands as you eat it, having to hork up big wads of sharp bones and unchewable connective tissue every couple minutes sort of put a damper on my meal. The naan was perfectly good naan. The mango lassi was real bad. Syrupy, almost, with no detectable mango presence whatsoever. At the end of the "meal", my friend turned to me and said "Let's remember what this place was called so we can never order food here again." Sorry Naan n' Curry, you just don't hold up. more

I cannot deny the food... hot, spicy, generous, my top 3 requirements. But the people are rude, a bit on the ignorant side, and the place could use a little cleaning.... Vic's and others are much better, but also more upscale. Separate reviews for them. more

Amazing & Authentic Indian! 11/2/2008

I'm no expert on Indian food but I went with a whole bunch of my Indian friends, who all said it was pretty authentic. The people working there are very friendly and although the place looks a bit rundown, the Indian music makes it all better. Once you step in, there's a warm, welcoming scent of yummy Indian food! The price is really good. Naan for a dollar! and it's a really good size. In the east bay, you can't find naan like that. They're all really small and at least $1.50. I ordered the chicken tandoori and it was awesome. The flavors are amazing. Adding splashes of lemon juice helped it a lot too. eating it with the naan was wonderful. Just plain naan was satisfactory as the chicken was really flavorful. The spiciness level was amazing too. It had spice but not too much; not so much that i need water after every bite but enough to feel the heat. The samosas were really good too, but they didn't come with sauce. They were a bit spicier than the chicken but it was all good. The lamb shish kebab was more of a sausage and was also spicier like the samosas but it was still amazing. I love Naan N Curry! It's so cute and delicious. I would go back to Berkeley just for naan n curry. :) Pros: fast service, good prices, yummy food! nom nom nom Cons: nothing :) more

Although the food is cheap the taste of the food is lousy. 7/13/2008

Being an indian and knowing the real taste of indian food Naan and Curry is very mediocre. The Naan is good, but the food is gross. What I ordered was the Tikka Chicken Masala. The Chicken was NOT marinated and grilled plain just like what you can find on typlical salads and seemed to be just thrown in the premade tikka curry once you order the dish cauing no tastiness to the chicken. There was absolutly no flavor. I will Never Go Here Again Especially the Berkley location. more

Addicting 4/24/2008

I have never tried anything here that I haven't loved. The Naan is always perfect, never too crispy and their chicken Masala is a staple. I love that they have free chai tea that you can refill whenever you need to-it goes great with anything spicy. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Pros: delicious food, free chai, inexpensive, quick service Cons: none in Los Angeles= lame more

Great food, easy seating, no atmosphere 10/19/2007

I am not an expert in Indian food, but what I got there was really nice and tasty. When you enter the restaurant, you would not believe it is so delicious as there is an atmosphere like in a waiting hall. The cost-benefit relatio is very good, though. No place for romantic dinners, but good with friends. more

Absolutely great food! 9/3/2006

This place has the best indian food I've had. I highly recommend the Chicken Tikka Massala. It's good to know that there are still a few restaurants that have great food, and don't cost a fortune. I just wish they had a Naan N Curry in the South Bay! Pros: GREAT food, GREAT prices Cons: No restaurants in the South Bay (San Jose). more
