We called in our reservation around 2 PM, Oct. 22 there answering machine picked up and said leave your message. Which we did for diner at 5PM that evening, when we arrived we were not on the reservation list. We explained and her comment was nobody ever listens to the messages on the answering machine you need to talk to someone. OK so why don't they change there message?? They did squeeze us in for diner even though they where only a few people seated. My wife's crab cake was very good, I had the duck which was not very good. more

A Perfect Birthday Dining Experience! 2/28/2010

We were seated by a friendly and accommodating hostess who obliged us per our requests, to be seated near a window affording the view we had anxiously hoped for. Pros: Good food & great views! more

big ship-big price-no big deal 3/1/2009

Having not been to the Moshulu in quite a few years, I made a reservation this past weekend. I was pleasantly surprised at the renovation which had taken place --- clearly not recently---- but nicer than I remembered just the same. Pros: View of the waterfont Cons: Paid parking lot more

CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!!! 1/20/2009

My fiance and I do not get to go out very often do the fact of our busy schedules so when we were able to enjoy a night out we wanted to make sure it was worth it. We had heard about the Moshulu from a friend and decided to give it a try. Well from the minute I walked into the lobby and viewed the amazing replica cake of the White House done by Moshulu's own pastry chef, Ernie Rich, I knew we had picked a great place. I am very picky about having my steaks cooked correctly so I was a little hesitant in ordering the 9oz fillet, however, I gave it a try and was amazed how perfectly cooked it was. I must say that we chose the right place to enjoy our night out and I can not wait to come back in the summer say I can enjoy dining on the deck!! Pros: Service, food, view more

Best Brunch in Philadelphia 1/19/2009

I went to the Moshulu for my boyfriend's brunch with his parents. We were all so astounded by our experience! It was unique being the ship with the views of Penns Landing and the Ben Franklin Bridge, not to mention the decor inside, the beautiful buffetts that were set up, the delicious entrees prepared fresh, and the warm, attentive service we received! New Years Eve Celebration unlike any other! 1/5/2009

My sister and I decided to dine at Moshulu for New Years eve this year. I must say...WOW. What an unforgettable evening. The ship is so elegant, and the staff so accomodating. Be sure to request a window as we did. We had to wait a few extra minutes for our table but it is well worth it! On special holidays Moshulu offers a pre fixe menu with choices for each couse. The food was absolutely delicious and the service...well considering it was a holiday and I'm sure one of the busiest days of the year for this restaurant the entire staff was in such high spirits. From the time we had our car parked to the time we left the restaurant we experienced nothing but the most gracious hospitality. After dinner guests were invited up to the deck for cocktails, live entertainment and a beautiful fireworks display at midnight. My sister and I were thrilled. After two years of planning my son?s Bar Mitzvah the event was marred not only by what occurred the night of the party but by the attack on my character by a Partner . Genuinely impressed with the service 9/5/2008

I dined at Moshulu this past week and I must say the experience exceeded my every expectation. Originally I had planned to only have cocktails upstairs on deck (beautiful view by the way), but then my guest and I decided to have dinner downstairs in the main dining room. I am so glad we did. the ambiance was impeccable. The candle light and views of the river made for a very romantic setting. My guest was very pleased. The food made this experience more memorable than ever. I had the Lobster and my guest had the Ribeye, both of which were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant to any one who is looking to dine somewhere new...Get out of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet on the river! Overpriced, overhyped, rude management! 8/28/2008

I have been to the Moshulu on three different occassions, so I highly doubt my bad experiences were just flukes. Totally overpriced, portions are undersized, and I am fairly certain they re-use much of their produce. After having two miserable dining experiences, I gave up but decided to try their deck bar one Saturday evening for drinks for a going-away party for my sister. Huge mistake...bartenders aren't friendly or knowledgble; they got our orders wrong and apparently hadn't had much experience at making margaritas. (Pretty basic drink for a summer-time deck bar.) I complained at this point, but to no avial...management team belongs at McDonalds. They were too preoccupied with rushing their dinner customers out the door to make room for some trashy club event. I looked at 5 places for m y wedding, and the management and the Moshulu was unbelievably RUDE, I got a bad feeling from the managers cheap suit, but the way he acted was beyond what I have seen in any movie. SO overrated - subpar dinner, below average food at hefty prices!! 7/10/2008

I decided to try moshulu since we were looking for a new restaurant to try for a special occasion - we have gone to many of the top restaurants in Philly and I wanted a change. This place got great reviews so I was convinced. When we arrived, the inside dining area while very beautiful had a bizarre smell. Unappetizing and just strange. So we decided to go sit on the deck, outside on the water. After getting a seat that faced the parking lot, we sat down to eat. Great for a large group 6/25/2008

I go there every year for my birthday with my family. I always anticipate going. Whenever I go I always get something new that i have never tried before. The filet is great. The dessert is really worth waiting for. They gave me a banana foster which was in the shape of a ship. It was soooooo good that i didnt wan to every finished eating it. We waited about 20 minutes at the bar to be seated however it was woth it . The food was great and we will return with a larger party. Pros: Food was excellent and presentation was exquisite Cons: The wait was 20 minutes for seating and the restaurant was not crowded. more

Three Course Champagne Brunch Was Excellent! 4/26/2008

WOW! Just had brunch at the Moshulu last weekend and much to my surprise, they now have this three course champagne brunch...with UNLIMITED champagne! The food was excellent and the view of the water was amazing. They also had jazz music which was a nice touch. At $35 per person, I'd have to say this is by far the best deal in the city for brunch. Simply heaven. Can't wait to go back. Pros: The view is amazing. Excellent food and service. Great music too! more

rude waitress 1/9/2008

I went here for my sisters birthday on 12/14/07. We had a big party like 15 of us. We had a caucasian female waitress. She was very rude. Snatched menus, rolled her eyes, and didn't even take my sister order. I don't recommend this place fro anyone. Especially big parties! The wait staff gets irritated. I don't know why because the bigger the party the bigger the gratuity they should be delighted. Cons: rude waitress more

Great Office Christmas Party 11/20/2007

My office had its annual Christmas luncheon/party at the Moshulu. The food was absolutely delicious. I particularly enjoyed the salad with raspberry vinegarette and goat cheese. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection as well. The desserts were served with adorable decor. We had a private room that over looked the river, which was nice (until the ugly huge boats started docking nearby!). Still, it was a wonderful dining experience and I can't wait for an occasion special enough to return to the Moshulu. Pros: food, decor, just being on the ship!
