WOW What a Meal!!! 9/30/2010

Last night was my Husband and my son's birthday so we took the family for a great dinner! I have to tell you that from the time I called to make my reservations to the very last second of us walking out the door EVERYTHING was truly wonderful. The restaurant was beautiful, The hostess was like an old friend so happy to see us and the wait staff was never ending... Just to start us off they gave us personal menu's that read along the top a special happy birthday to my husband and son with their names on them. There was 10 of us and it seemed as if we never wanted for a thing.. The second we though of something we wanted it was as if they read our minds and were handing it to us before we could ask. We started with a ton of app's. The Shrimp cocktail were huge, the crab cake was to die for literally, the bacon and scallops were perfect and most everyone loved the oyster Rockefeller ( I really rather mine cooked a little more with a little crisp to the top) And can I just mention that the bread ball they give you is something I'll crave everyday!!! The salads were enough for 2 people and every kind you could want. Most of us got the double Filet mignon (which was a bit expensive) cooked all different ways and all of them were PERFECT... hardly a stitch of fat... all Oh.. So... good... melt in your mouth beef! The potato's were about the size of a football and done perfectly, and the sides were too... We finished off with a ton of deserts... I never order any but couldn't help myself from reaching across the table to try everyone else's... mmmm Lava cake & berries with whipped cream.... I think it's only right that when you eat like that you should be able to go back the next night for seconds free!!! LOL All in All It was a pretty amazing night, The bill was a little over 1000. before the tip which they DIDN""T add in (which I really liked because I don't want anyone telling me how much to tip) so it was a bit more than I expected to pay but a ton more than I expected in the experiance... I may not go there with that many people again but I will definitally be going there again, alot!!! BRAVO more

Wonderful 10/11/2008

I may be biased because I did eat at Morton's on a gift certificate so it really wasn't a risk to go there. We had a group of 8 and each of us order entree's, sides, drinks, and desserts. Now, I am realistic. I expect that at most restaurants you might get 2 out of 4 things to be good. All of us enjoyed everything we ordered. We had everything from steak to chicken to fish - all prepared to order. The sides were tasty and well done. Even the desserts, the godiva thing mmm mmm mmm. Pros: The food Cons: Too bad it is not in my price range more

From a true carnivore: Morton's is very much over-rated 9/29/2007

My best friend took me here for my birthday. What a disappointment. I've heard so many raves about this place but it was definitely nothing special and so very much over-rated and over-priced. The steak was decent but not really any better than what I can get for half the price at other places. The giant-sized onion roll that came with the table was awful. Dry and very messy with pats of rock-hard cold butter on the side. How am I supposed to spread that? Bread is not expensive to make and should be a delight to go with yor meal. This bread was anything but. Plus, my dessert was terrible. I don't remember what it was called, but it was some chilled chocolate-type cake. Couldn't hardly taste the chocolate for the overwhelming flavor of the alcohol this thing had been drowned in when it was being made. The waitress seemed very disinterested in actually doing her job. And the atmosphere is just sad. I know what it was SUPPOSED to be, but it falls far short. There are places you can go that will make you feel much more special.\r \r For the good, however, I did adore the steak fries and the shrimp cocktail appetizer I got. My friend's baked shrimp appetizer was also very good, as was his warm chocolate cake dessert. That's about all the good I can say about Morton's. I wish we hadn't wasted so much money for what we got. I hope you don't either if you're reading this. For what this place costs, it should be out of this world. It wasn't. Try a different place for steak. I know I'm going to. Good luck! Pros: Steak fries and appetizers Cons: Service, quality, price more

Cajun Ribeye Steak 4/2/2007

This place is perfect for special occasions. When making the reservation, I let them know I was bringing my veteran fiance, there for his birthday. They sat us in nice big booth and handed us personalized menus that read ""Happy Birthday (Name)"" at the top. We started with the smoked salmon, which he was hesitant to get but then ate more than me. He ordered the filet and I the Cajun Ribeye. That was amazing! The amount of herbs and spices the chef used was perfect. I savored every bite while sharing only 2 bites with my fiance. The wine that the Assistant Manager helped us pair with our entrees was perfect too! And I'm not a fan of Red Wine, but the White Horse was light and we finished the bottle just in time for dessert. I would have never known it was the server's first night, she looked like a pro. The only negative thing I could think of was the host stand. When the table was ready for us they said we could close our tab at the bar and they'd seat us. But when I went over there, they weren't ready. They were running around as if they were short one person. Though on our way out the hostesses fetched our coats promptly and smiled at us as we lift with full bellies and left overs to look forward to. Pros: Cajun Ribeye Steak, prefect martini, service, crowd volume, romantic Cons: host stand, no windows more

tiny and touristy, good bar snacks, good wine list 2/1/2007

""Good for those who want a taste of Morton's class without dropping a ton on dinner. Great mini burgers and chicken fingers. A couple of TVs for watching the game."" more

YUM 11/3/2006

I love steak, and it took me forever to get to Mortons. The steak was well worth it. My filet was cooked to perfection. I had to restrain myself from eating the whole thing in one sitting. The space is nice, and our server was highly professional. I do think reciting the ENTIRE menu at the beginning is a bit much. A short presentation should suffice. I ordered a very nice bottle of pinot noir per the recommendation of the sommelier. I am very excited to go back.\r Pros: Steak, Wine Cons: Server Introduction more

FAB 3/28/2006

I've overlooked Morton's for too long. What was I thinking? This place is great. The food is top notch & the waiters & bartenders are fabulous & knowledgable. Every bite of my dinner was tasty & fresh. The lobster bisque is unbelieveable. Morton's has an extensive wine list. Definitely check it out. The entrance on Boylston St. makes you feel like you are entering a secret club. The downstairs location & dimly lit bar back this up. They also have private rooms for large parties / meetings. Here's a secret: they serve free sirlon burgers Mon - Fri from 5pm - 7pm @ the bar. Mmmm! Pros: menu, bar, service more

Not just for steak lovers! 10/25/2005

I had the most wonderful salmon the other night at Morton's. It was cooked to perfection and all the sides were amazing. Morton's also has a really, really nice wine selection for those with high tastes as well! Pros: Excellent Food, Exceptional Service, Romantic Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Chocolate Martini Delight! 8/25/2005

I am already a fan of chocolate martinis, but this restaurant serves the best I have ever had! After testing out many in the city, Morton's delivers a delicious treat to accompany your delectable dinner. The service was fantastic- the bartender personally came over to ask if I was enjoying the drink! I would reccommend to anyone willing to spend a few extra dollars some night and truly treat themselves! more

The Best Steakhouse in Boston-Superb! 7/1/2005

There is so many steakhouses to choose from in Boston, with that being said, Morton's is the best! Morton's has been around for almost 20 years and has kept its reputation for the best steakhouse around. I have eaten at many of the different locations around the country and found everything from the service to the food has been consistantly great everytime. I was there last for a special occassion spent with my family and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like we were the only people dining in the restaurant, which was packed at the time. I ordered the porterhouse which was cooked to perfection and the godiva chocolate cake was to die for! The winelist is also exceptional and I will be back again soon. I highly recommend Morton's! Pros: valet, outstanding service, prime beef Cons: no windows more

Top of the line 4/15/2005

Lets just say that as a steak connaisseur, I was very impressed with Mortons. I got the Porterhouse while my girlfriend got the Filet Mignon. The Porterhouse was cooked to perfection with a great split of strip steak and filet. The creamed spinach was the best in the city and the mashed potatoes were extra creamy. The service was great, although at times it was hard to here him over the groups or rowdy businessmen. If you are not afraid to loosen the wallet up a little, Mortons is a great choice and I would put it up against any steakhouse in Boston. Pros: Quality, Service, Cleanliness Cons: Expensive, No Parking, Loud more

Gourmet 3/8/2005

Morton's is unparalelled. Excellent service, delicious, top of the line fresh steak, and enormous side dishes. The martini I got was $12, and honestly, it was worth every single penny as it was the best martini I have had. Worth the big bucks, you need to make the trip. Dress up and treat yourself to a posh night out. Pros: steaks, portions, service Cons: price, can be busy, can be noisy more

Excellent Meal 2/3/2005

I really enjoyed Mortons. I loved the ambiance and the food was excellent. Our waiter was very nice and paid just enough attention to us without over doing it. It was a great night out and I would highly reccomend it. more

Great meal! 9/3/2004

From the appetizer to entree to dessert, this meal was superb. Although it is expensive, it's well worth the money. Don't leave the place without trying the Godiva chocolate cake - it's to die for! I will definitely be back to celebrate another special occassion. Pros: Food!, Atmosphere, Service more

expensive, but worth it 7/6/2003

some expensive steaks and drinks, quality is excellent, try to come on the corporate card Pros: quality, service Cons: price, atmosphere more

Ahhh....but the steak! 1/21/2003

Well.... everything was large (except the oysters) and absolutely tasteless. The hollandaise for the watery asparagus tasted like it came out of a packet and the lyonnaise potatoes were greasy and ugly looking. BUT....the meat is delicious. Aged to perfection and really cooked the way you would want it. Go there for steak, take a chance on everything else. Couldn't get a reservation for nine on a Saturday night, so made do with 7.30 ..which was interesting due to the fact that at 9.00 there were only eight tables full....sigh .....why do restaurants do this? Pros: The Steak, Attentive Wait Staff Cons: Everything else, The reservation more

Not what it used to be 1/13/2003

I have been to Morton's several times. My most recent visit was with a group of 10 of my closest friends. We had a OK dinner, nothing special and pretty good service. After desert and after dinner drinks, the staff was hovering over our table. Finally what I assume was the manager came over and said he ""really"" needed our table and he would buy us a round of drinks if we would leave the table. I found it so rude that we would spend almost $1000, and be rushed out of the place. There are too many great steak places to put up with this type of service. Pros: Potential service, Quality of food Cons: potential service, sides more

Not the most spectacular Mortons 1/3/2003

It's tough to review a chain restaurant and not make comparisons to other locations, but when you step into this strata of establishment it's inevitable. Would I recommend Morton's in general? YES. The menu is a list of classic steakhouse staples and it's virtually assured you will get the same quality no matter where you go. Why (besides the expense account friendly menu) else is this one the most popular eateries for business travelers? Would I recommend the Morton's in Boston? Not quite. The service is fairly inattentive (I found myself filling my own champagne glass), and it took an inordinate amount of time to even have our order taken. If you want to try a Morton's that's well managed, try Chicago, Denver, or Philly (especially). But if you're in Boston, head to Grill 23 instead. Pros: Consistent fare, Elegant dining, Good wine list Cons: Noisy dining room, Slow service, Inattentive staff more

A mouth pleasing experience 1/2/2003

Morton's of Chicago is the ultimate dining experience, the service is superb and the food is meant for the gods. I have dined at Morton's several times and find it to be no more expensive than going to a dinner and then taking in a show; the only difference is dinner is the show and you have your own private theater, your plate! Most people go to restaurants pay a little more than half of what Morton's would cost and come away unsatisfied; for a few dollars more you can have one great nite of dining experience and not feel the need to go to another restaurant for a few weeks. Only in America can you eat like royalty, and feel like it as well. Morton's is worth saving your pennies for!!!!!! more

Not worth it. 12/20/2002

Average tasting steaks that took close to an hour to prepare, o.k. sides and less than spectacular service turned me off. My filet was loaded with grissle and my girlfriend's had to be returned twice because it was still mooing. Capital Grille, Grille 23 and Abe & Louie's are much better alternatives for a pricey steak meal. I was very disappointed. more
