I recently had dinner at Morton's Steakhouse with another couple. We were greeted at the door and our reservations were honored and we were seated. Our waiter greeted up promptly and advised us that there was prime rib on the menu but "it goes quickly" and to order it now. The men did. Hot onion bread and butter was served as were our drinks. My wife's appetizer of lobster cocktail was good, but considering the price, skimpy. The two shrimp cocktails were moist, meaty and big (Viet Nam shrimp we were told). My scallops wrapped in bacon was good, but again, the portion size (3) for the price was small. Up to that point everything was acceptable. Our waiter was attentive, but we were his only table. Our entrees were served. My wife's bread crumb covered shrimp was slightly overdone making it chewy, the salmon entree was good and the two prime ribs were made as ordered, one medium one well. The side of broccoli was steamed but the grilled asparagus was drowned in a balsamic sauce that ruined the taste. As we ate the restaurant became busy and noisy. Twenty minutes after we had finished our meal our waiter was busy elsewhere and never came back. Our plates remained on the table. I stopped the Maitre D and asked that the plates be removed. He nodded yes and walked away. Ten minutes later, I got out of my seat, walked over to the Maitre D to explain that I wanted the plates removed, NOW. He immediately went to our waiter and the plates were taken away. Dessert was pre-ordered, a chocolate lava cake with ice cream and 4 spoons. Coffee and tea were served and the dessert was put on the table, with four forks and NO plates. My wife wanted to call him back because eating ice cream with a fork is difficult at best, but I opted to get the check and leave. Summary: AMBIANCE - Excellent, FOOD - inconsistent, NOISE LEVEL - Can you hear me now?, SERVICE - mediocre, COST - Expensive, OVERALL - for $200 a couple I can find hundreds of restaurants in Palm Beach County to fulfill my every request. Would I go there again, NOT! more

Extremely OverRated 3/18/2008

My husband took me to Morton's the Sunday after Valentine's Day. We lived in Chicago for 2 decades and were frequent patrons of Morton's and loved the food. Expecting a great steak and side dishes I was horrified when I couldn't chew my steak and my jaw actually began to hurt. The side of hash browns was dripping in oil and all I could see was a crust without potatoes. My husband's steak was somewhat raw and had to be put back on the grill. The final straw was the cheescake which I had to send back...enough was enough. The service was fine and the decor was elegant. The food was very expensive and not worth half of what we spent. No more Morton's for us. We were told this by a great number of people who had been here but we just had to taste for ourselves. Pros: Good Service and elegant atmosphere Cons: Very expensive and over rated. Steak was not worth the money. more

Excellent Dining Experience 12/13/2003

Although oddly located in a strip shopping center, Morton's is distinquished by large wooden doors at the entrance and an elequent dining room. The service was excellent, with our waiters offering candid advise to us as first time guests. We observed the servers carefully timing the delivery of each course to match the pace of the guests; they knew how to properly serve dinner. The food was all prepared as ordered to perfection, and delicious. Portions are generous. Our total bill for two diners (non-drinkers) including 20% tip was $160. Pros: Service, Quality of Food more
