Wanted us to pay for food we never got 2/26/2011

Here's the story: three friends and I went to the Rice Village location and ordered four pizzas. One of them came with the wrong toppings, so the waiter offered to make a new one... He said that the replacement pizza with correct toppings could come out in ten minutes, but we said to just cancel it since the three pizzas we already had were huge anyway. The food was good. At check time, they wanted to charge us for four pizzas, and even a manager insisted that we should pay for the fourth pizza we never received because they actually made it ""in the back."" We explained that not only did we ask them not to make the replacement pizza, but we also never received it, and still he insisted we pay for it. The manager threatened to call the police over this, and then turned around and just said that it would ""come out of the waiter's paycheck."" We tried to tell him that was ridiculous, but the waiter actually defended him, saying ""It was my mistake."" The whole thing was unbelievable. We paid for the three pizzas, but I wish we had just walked out. Please never go here as long as that manager is still employed. more

Forks Bend - Now called Guglianos 6/22/2009

First fork bent while cutting bread, 2nd bent in half eating spaghetti. Talk about cheap. They said all their forks are like that. Collinas was ok, Guglianos felt cheap and I felt embarrassed for having brought a friend there. more

Do Think About It!!! 1/21/2009

Linguini & spaghetti that came with tomato sauce was drenched in grease, Fettuccini was almost like drinking cream soup. We left our plates full and were not even offered a refund. The worst part was the after taste? our mouth tasted like dirty rags. The most disgusting food I?v had in my life? GO ELSE WHERE! Cons: Not Recommended more

Worst service of all time. 12/6/2008

This evening my boyfriend and I went for dinner at Collina's. As college students, Collina's is a nearby, moderately priced, and tasty place to eat- I love their pizza and some of their pasta dishes. However, the last three or four times I've been there, the service has been absolutely HORRIBLE. Tonight, the hostess tried to seat us at a dirty and poorly placed table (practically in what exists of a waiting area), and when I requested a different table, she scoffed and said ""FINE"" and sat us down. One other couple sat down nearby us around the same time. They had water, wine, and bread within a few minutes of sitting down, while we waited 15 minutes for the first sign of our waiter. After another 5 minutes of waiting for drinks, he then proceeded to bring bread and beers to an elderly couple next to us who had come in 10 minutes after us!! Still without drinks or bread, I got up and spoke to the host and asked to speak to the manager, but he reacted nonchalantly to my complaint and said he would get us the bread, without an apology or without answering my request to see the manager. The poor service continued with an epically long time for our entrees to come out. I am afraid that though the food is great, the service is simply not worth putting up with. They need to replace their entire serving staff. Before, I had thought the bad service I'd experienced there had been a fluke, but now I know that it's totally characteristic of this place. DON'T GO HERE. Pros: good pizza and pasta, good location Cons: TERRIBLE service more

AVOID COLLINA'S GREENWAY PLAZA 9/5/2008

We loved Collina's in Rice Village and have tried several times to like the one closer to our house located at Greenway Plaza. NEVER going to happen. The girls that work there are beyond rude. Once we placed a delivery order and called to check on it an hour and a half later...after giving the girl our credit card information...and they said they had no record of our order. On top of that, more rude attitude from the girl on the phone. How's that for service? Pros: Go to Rice Village location! Good food, good service. Cons: Employees at the Greenway plaza location. RUDE. more

If you can find a better pizza....BUY IT! 10/12/2007

Still the best pizza in Houston and the prices are reasonable. All menu items are very good, but the pizza can't be beat. Eggplant Parmigiana is fantastic, where you get the dinner or the Panini you can?t go wrong. BYOB (with a corkage fee?somebody has to wash the glasses) is a great option, the $2 they charge you is WELL worth the savings on a bottle or two or three of wine. A table of 4 = $8 add that to the wine store price of 20 bucks each for three bottles of wine and you get three time as much wine for less that most places charge you for one bottle of the same wine. Those complaining about ?corkage fees? are REALLY CHEAP? Did I mention the Pizza, it?s great; try the Greca it?s our favorite and if your really into toppings try the Mona Lisa a' la Lisa, a large will serve four people and still leave you a piece or two for breakfast. Service is NOT what they are know for, but GREAT food at reasonable prices IS. Not all locations are the same, Heights is the fanciest, Village most relaxed, Memorial City is more family oriented. Pros: Pizza, Prices, BYOB Cons: Service, Noise, Crowded more

Great pizza, average service 7/11/2007

I went here on the recommendation of a friend. The pizza was really great (and so was the salad and bread), but the service was merely okay. The waitress forgot to bring our bread and barely stopped by the table. The atmosphere was really loud. I'll probably still go back again, but will try the patio next time. I will absolutely order pizza to go in the future. more

Very good Pizza 11/16/2006

This place is has the best pizza around. It is a great place to people watch if you sit on the patio. Ask Pedro with help from the wine list, he is very knowledgable. You can bring your own wine to this place just pay the cork fee. Pros: Great food, service Cons: parking more

New manager is why I will not eat here again 10/18/2006

I have been a fan of Collina's for years until now. The food is the best but my last visit was my last. First of all, there was a large party that was out of control, they were so loud that people leaving the resturant were complaining that they had lost their hearing. The new manager was so rude to my husband and I. We asked for the wine list to order a bottle when my husband told the manger what we would like he looks at the menu, took his finger and went straight to the price and said to us ""no no this is no good"" taking his finger (right in front of us) he locates the most expensive one on the list and says ""this is what you should have."" My husband and I are not cheap nor are we stupid!! THEN, when we are having dinner he comes to the table and after some chatting the topic of birthdays comes up. I mention that we have had three 30th Birthday Parties here and we may have mine here in July. He says ""WHAT, you're 29?!?"" I said ""yes, why?"" ""I thought you were alot older than that!"" How rude is that?? Any man with half a brain knows you NEVER say that to any woman or anyone for that matter. I guess this is his way of getting back at me for saying that I miss Pedro and I have not been there as much since Pedro is gone . . . well TOO BAD, I do miss Pedro and I will never eat here again as long as he is the manger! Pros: Great Food Cons: New manager is RUDE! more

Never again! 9/30/2006

We live in the area and up to this point frequented or carried out Collina's food on many occasions. Well last night I got so turned off we're never coming back. I came in to pick up a take-home order. The order wasn't completely ready (which was fine since they're busy on weekend nights). I waited by the counter and happened to glance over into the kitchen area. The *waiter* who was helping me was grabbing lettuce out of a big bowl with his *bare hands* and putting it into my styro container. I was incredulous and complained to both the waiter and the manager standing at the counter. All they said fine, fine, we'll have one of the kitchen staff make another take-home salad. Well after that the waiter put the styro container that he ""prepared"" for us back into the fridge for some other unlucky customer. The finale at the end was that when I got home I realized they missed an item from my order and I had to go back once again to retrieve it. The manager was kind of apologetic and said next time we come in bla-bla ""make it up to me"". Well there won't be a next time. more

Can't count on prices 5/30/2006

I've been dining at this Collina's for several years. Last weekend we got charged $1.99 for a corkage fee per person - this has never happened before. When we brought it up to our waiter they insisted that this was the policy - and suggested that they technically were not a byob restaurant anymore. This policy is not in writing anywhere, but still they refused to reverse the charges - or even one of them. Both the server and the manager made unnecessary and ugly remarks about a former employee, Pedro, who had always been my favorite. The whole atmosphere among staff has become dry, dull, and rude. I guess I'll be eating at the Collina's on Richmond now... Pros: Food, Value Cons: Loud, Slow Service, Rude Staff more

Be Careful of Pedro 2/9/2006

I love Collina's, and I have always loved having Pedro (a fun, cool waiter) wait on our table. However, I have realized that EVERY single time he has waited on us he has overcharged our bill and added small things on our bill just to increase enough to make a difference over an evening of many tables but not enough that most tables would complain about it. It is just easier to pay it than wait another 20 minutes to get it fixed since the service is slow. It has just gotten to the point that I can guess before hand what all will be added to my bill. This is just bad business and annoying...so tables beware. more

Great Pizza in The Village 5/13/2005

You can't beat the pizza at Collina's...their other dishes are great as well. Great white cream sauces. BYOB makes have a great bottle of wine with dinner affordable. Small patio is great, but you'll have a wait. Pros: Food Quality, BYOB, Location Cons: Small, Parking, Wait more

Fun Eatery 11/12/2003

I had a great time at this little Italian eatery in the Village! The chicken caesar salad was good and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. Pros: atmosphere, good food, service Cons: noisy more

Short on quality, long on attitude! 8/27/2002

Pizzas were good -- not great -- but good. The tortellini was consistently dry, almost to the point of being crunchy. Service was mediocre to average and dispensed with a real attitude. If you think this is great food and ambience, you don't get out enough! Pros: Casual, BYOB (wine) Cons: Average food, Surly waiters more

Not that cheap!! 8/21/2002

Where do you get Cheap Eats??? It is not that cheap. Not kid friendly. Not friendly at all. Cons: Not Cheap, Not kid friendly, Not that good more

Excellent 8/18/2002

Excellent Neighborhood eatery. Great place to enjoy with friends. Bring your own bottle of wine and enjoy this Italian retaurant with a casual and elegant ambiance. more

best value for your money 7/25/2002

Cozy gem in West U 6/17/2002

Good food, cozy atmosphere and good prices. Can't wrong with this convenient spot. I loved it. The house dressing made me take notice of my salad. I would go back again. Pros: Inexpensive, ambiance, friendly wait staff more
