My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary and decided to book a stay at the Moondance Inn.\r We were thrilled with our choice of stay. EVERYTHING was 5 stars. The Inn was beautiful and well kept, the rooms were a perfect size, the price was comparable to most , the owners were visible and always willing to give us ideas on what to do in town, the food they made was FABULOUS!!\r We would highly recommend the Moon dance Inn. We know we will be back to enjoy this superb place again!! more

We found a place where we could relax, we were given the gift of time and peace. There were many cute and cosy sitting spots, we felt at home at all times, bed was super comfortable, bath tubs are outstanding... breakfast absolutely perfect and Mike was everything one can expect from a host. He even asked if we wanted to be introduced to his dogs!!! (In some places they just jump on you, here Della and Trouble are nothing but a couple of sweet babies in fur coats and you will see them only if you so request).\r In a nutshell: the perfect place with the most detailed service, excellent. more

The Moodance Inn is absolutely spectacular, it felt like we had walked back in time. Mike and Chris have poured their hearts into this project, and the attention to detail is obvious is every inch of the Inn. The food was wonderful, as was the conversation and every other aspect of our trip. more

We have had an absolutely lovely time at Moondance. Everything from the smells of morning breakfast seeping aromatically underneath our door to the incredibly relaxing whirlpool tub (beware of the jets – they’re powerful!) to the perfect little heater that kept our room toasty thorough the night added up to make our stay relaxing and comfortable. more

Chris and Mike , the owners and hosts, have done a superb job of decorating the Inn. Each room is decorated with its own theme--we stayed in the King's room with its four poster bed and suit of armor standing guard outside the door. Both Mike and Chris are wonderful hosts. They are friendly, welcoming, and great cooks. The breakfast dishes were both imaginative and tasty. And their two dogs (Pooleys) love to play. Red Wing itself was a pleasant surprise. It has a real downtown by the Mississippi that is made for walking. It has fun shops (like the Uffda store), the Redwing boot museum (a must see), and some outstanding restaurants. This was a fun trip. more

This was our first experience at a Bed and Breakfast and it will be hard to top. The house and rooms were charming and made for a special weekend. The Queen's room that we stayed in was well kept and romantic. The owners were friendly and accommodating and gave us great advice for dinner and entertainment in town. The lit Christmas tree, crackling fire place, nice music, and tasty h'orderves contributed to the inviting sitting room. What made this experience memorable was the hospitality of Mike and Chris, which included their fabulous breakfasts and fun conversions. Them and the overall charm and loveliness of the Moondance Inn will lead us to a future visit. more

This was our second trip to this unique B & B, and we took advantagae of the wonderful New Year's weekend package. Even in the cold of Winter this place is warm and welcoming. The rooms, with amazing linens on the bed, were everything that we could want to ward off the Minnesota cold. It was 20 below the morning we left! Because this was a special weekend, we had a spread of appitizers in the dining room before we went out to dinner on New Year's Eve, and the breakfasts are exceptional. No rolls and coffee here, but instead a huge hot breakfast with lots of extras.\r \r Redwing itself is a most interesting old Mississippi River town, and Moondance is part of the local history. The inn keepers have maintained the grand style that the original owners intended, and they can share many stories about the history of the town and the home.\r more

We have stayed at the Moondance many times over the last 7 or 8 years to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. It was our first B&B and it is the one that keeps drawing us back. Mike and Chris are great hosts and have done a beautiful job decorating and maintaining the Inn. You are greeted with hors d'oeuvres in the evening in the great room with a fire in the fireplace if it's cold outside. The rooms are beautiful, the whirlpools are relaxing, the ambience is perfect and breakfast is a feast. We have again made our reservations to go back next fall and will very likely find a reason to stay there another time in between. more

Awesome place to stay. The owners were very attentive to all needs. We really enjoyed Red Wing and the surrounding area. We walked to many of the attractions that we wanted to see in the town. Barn bluff, Red Wing brewery, Red Wing Shoes, the St. James Hotel, etc. more

My wife and I have been going to the Moondance Inn every year for the past 10 years. It is our favorite place to go and relax and have a great time. Whether we are sitting in the spacious living room with a nice fire or sitting on the front porch with a view of the town we enjoy every minute. The bedrooms have nice jacuzzi tubs and the beds are very comfortable.\r \r Chris and Mike (the owners) have made every visit enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent and the service was great. Every visit to the Moondance has been a great experience for us. more

We have been to the Lake Placid HoJo's many times over the years and it is always good. The fried clams are great and a HoJo's classic. Every time we have had the food bar, the food that is supposed to be hot is hot (not lukewarm!) and the cold food is cold. The French Toast on the breakfast bar is hot! That is hard to do. They seems to be constantly checking it and removing old food and bringing out new. HoJo's is also fully licensed so you can enjoy an adult beverage with dinner while the kids enjoy the ice cream desserts. more

The Moondance Inn was a quick drive from Minneapolis, but a lovely world away. Our room was tastefully decorated, with a large hot-tub and a very comfortable 4-poster King-size bed. The common room is large and open, filled with antiques, art, comfy furniture and a warm fireplace with a real fire burning. The breakfasts and evening hors'dourves were sumptuous. Best of all, Mike the host was extremely friendly and fun to talk to. He made us feel very welcome. more

We so enjoyed our stay at the Guesthouse. It was the perfect place for group to feel at home while traveling. The bedrooms are unique and lovely, and the living space is warm.\r A very pleasant walk from the town center. The 7 of us enjoyed our stay thoroughly and look forward to staying again! Our contact with the owners was pleasant and they were very accommodating. more

My hubby and I had a wonderful time. Stayed in the King room and it was beautiful. Red Wing is charming. We planned on drinking too much at dinner downtown to drive home and the B&B was close enough to walk to from the restaurant. more

My wife and celebrated out anniversary here. Our room was perfect and the breakfast was excellent. I would recommend staying here you will not be disappointed!! The Inn keepers were very nice and many great stories about the history of the house and how they came to be the owners of such a beautiful house. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/14/2013

This was our third time back to the Moondance Inn for me and my wife. We invited our friends to come and stay with us and rented out the entire Inn to ourselves. My wife and I have stayed in the King Room each time, and our friends who have returned from previous visits swapped different rooms for different experiences. We love the elegance, cleanliness, and quiet nature of the old Victorian house. Chris and Mike are gracious and affable hosts whose company is welcome, while at the same time, they know when to defer to the needs of their guests' private time and excuse themselves accordingly. The food at breakfast (and at dinner, if you want it) is delicious, and we haven't yet had the same thing twice. The portions are large enough to satisfy but small enough to give a taste without overloading. The front porch is large and the neighborhood is quiet, allowing relaxing evenings and nights with friends and good conversation. more

This was our second time back to the Moondance and each time it truly is a treat! The house is fantastic. Gorgeous and intimate, yet comfortable and casual . Chris & Mike are wonderful hosts and instantly make you feel at home. Each room has a very distinct character, with unique appointments and lots of nice little touches. Be sure to make some time to enjoy the large whirlpool tubs in each room, and then relax on the porch with a glass of wine afterwards. With great food, a stellar staff, and an atmosphere that just says ""relax"", it is a wonderful getaway, especially being so close to the Twin Cities. Highly recommended!! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 11/1/2013

I probably wouldn't enjoy staying at any B&B if it meant sharing the house and a sit-down breakfast with strangers, but our group of friends like to rent all the Moondance Inn rooms together for a night and it is one of the most fabulous experiences we have together each year. The house is amazingly beautiful and getting to spend a long evening having drinks, dinner, playing games, chatting by the fire, etc. and then also getting to retreat with your loved one to a beautiful and romantic room at the end of the night is a fantastic getaway. I strongly recommend this house as a retreat for friends (or family) who want to spend some quality time together in an amazing atmosphere. You get the added benefit of delicious food, friendly and accommodating hosts, and learning some rich history about the house and time period it is from. more
