Great Selection, we went today and bought about 20 big plants

Worst

Went there w/ sis-in-law to find 2 specific plants --- sago palms and red yucca. Had 2 red yuccas & they looked half-dead (can't remember the price) and the sago palms were $140 ...

Great Selection 8/8/2011

Great Selection, we went today and bought about 20 big plants more

so happy 7/21/2011

I know nothing about plants and when I walked into Red Barn I was so happy with the way they help me find the right tools I needed for planting and explained what I needed to do. more

Such a great place! 7/19/2011

The staff are highly knowledgeable, helpful, and excellent at describing different options. more

real nice guy 7/7/2011

A real nice guy helped us out by diagnosing the disease (a virus I think) and recommended an organic pesticide, since we do plan on eating everything in our garden. more

very professional 6/15/2011

My husband and I have had our trees done by Red Barn Garden twice. I am very happy with their work every time. I think that the workers are very professional and know what they are doing. more

Thumbs up 6/6/2011

The good thing about the red barn is not only are you getting great plants, but the staff is phenomenal in helping you make your selections. more

Friendly and Helpful 5/25/2011

I am a landscape designer, so every penny counts. I do not shop here very often because their prices are so much higher. I have good luck with Hill Country Landscape at the other end of pond springs. If they do not have it in stock they are usually able to order for me. They are real friendly and helpful more

Awesome selection 5/10/2011

I'm new to the area and I stopped by Red Barn to see what I could find start my new garden. I found more plants than I new what to do with, but the staff was very informative when it came to answering my questions. I found just what I was looking for (organic fertilizers, compost, and mulch, plus my favorite herbs), and a fancy new plant that I had never heard of. I'm glad I found Red Barn, and I'll be going back. more

First class garden center 5/5/2011

Need to know what will grow in and around Austin? Check in with this first class garden center. If it grows here, they got it or get it. Wonder when to plant, ask - they know. Was more fun to visit before the city grew out to them, and made getting in and out such a mess, but still worth the effort. more

Our go to place for plants and herbs 5/3/2011

Red Barn is our go to place for plants and herbs. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. Plus, you get to pull a little red wagon around full of your plant needs. I like this part since my husband does the pulling and I do the selecting. (Record scratch!) Okay...we select as a team. The Mister knows more about the care of plants but I can fake it as a pretty good landscaper. Several of our butterfly garden plants were purchased here and are still thriving. The passion flower vine has grown to tremendous lengths and a species of beautiful bright orange butterflies (Agraulis vanillae--thanks Hoa N!) love it. They cruise through daily looking for one of the purple flowers. Unfortunately, the blooms last only about 48 hours. Red Barn has a list of deer proof plants and possibly a list of deer friendly plants if you have pet deer. One night several weeks ago, I went to the front door to let the cat in and a doe was standing next to her. In the morning there was strong evidence that doe had nibbled on the Katy Petunias. (Did the cat point these out to her?) These are on the deer proof list but times are tough for everyone including the deer. more

Easy to get to 4/29/2011

It is easy to reach Red Barn from 183. They have a good selection of herbs and veggies. more

Great deals 4/28/2011

Definitely worth a trip. Oh, and great sales if you go in the off season. As long as you can keep the plant alive for a couple of months before you can plant it, you can get some great deals! more

Amazing variety 4/26/2011

you cannot find the variety of plants at Home Depot or the amount of native plants that you can find at Red Barn. I always walk away from this place with at least 3 plants in hand. That's a lot when you count me in for visiting once per week in planting season! more

Staff is great 4/22/2011

The staff here is very friendly and willing to help. I always feel like I have the most specific ridiculous questions: "I need a part-shade plant that will grow to be 4-6 feet tall but only 1-2 feet wide." But they always find what I need. (Sky Pencil Japanese Holly in that case.) more

Red Barn has the greatest selection 4/20/2011

Whether you're a landscaper or individual home owner Red Barn has by far the greatest selection of yard plant I've seen in one place. We bought 2 crepe myrtle's a few years ago and they're still very healthy and going strong. They're more helpful and can really educate you on plant care and we acted on some suggestions they had and our yard is lush and one of the healthiest in the neighborhood. more

The best garden center 4/18/2011

I've tried vegetables and plants from everywhere, Lowe's, Home Depot, Shedd's in Clarksville, but Red Barn is the best. It's a bit of a drive from central austin but is worth it. I have more cantaloupe, basil, red peppers, chives, sage, and jalapenos than I know what to do with. This has been my best growing season ever since I switched to Red Barn exclusively. more

Good variety 4/15/2011

Red Barn has such a good variety of things for sale. The staff is very helpful and willing to answer any questions that you may have. more

High quality plants 4/13/2011

This is by far the best place to find all your flowers, shrubs and plants. I can spend hours looking at their inventory. If you have a question, the staff will know the answer. Everything is priced reasonably and the plants are of the highest quality. more

Love this store 4/11/2011

I love this garden store. It has every thing I need. I can even buy the lady bug organic John Dromgoole products without having to drive all the way south. The staff is knowledgeable of native and adapted plants which I've been trying to use at my house to save water. Plus it is an independently owned business so I know my money is going back into the local economy. more

it's worth it 4/7/2011

I went on Saturday and she let me know she would be with me shortly. Chris was great. I didn't know what I wanted, all I could tell her was full shade, a little bit of color and easy maintence. She gave me 7 or 8 different choices for the planter out in front. She even came back and found me later to show me another plant that she found that would work. They may be a little more expensive, but it's worth it to me for the help that I received. more
